Round 3 - Game 2: Golden Knights at Jets

1718JETS029_BMTSP-VS-Graphics_525x525_VG

Monday, CBC, Sportsnet, NBCSN  at 7:00 p.m.

Tagline: "Sin City vs. River City"

Storyline: After a quick start and workmanlike performance in a Game 1 win, the Jets look to continue feeding off of the whiteout and take a 2-0 lead into T-Mobile, as the rest of the NHL and the American media start to take notice of the whiteout pandemonium and the top team still remaining in the playoffs.

Quote: “They're like a pack of wolves the way they keep coming at you" - Ken Hitchcock on the Jets

Quote #2: “Who are these guys?" - Paul Newman and Robert Redford repeatedly in "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid"

Fun facts: Marc-Andre Fleury only gave up 3 first period goals in his first 10 playoff games this year before giving up 3 against the Jets on Saturday.......the Jets playoff opponents so far had 101, 117, and 109 points in the regular season for a total of 327, the second highest total in NHL history for the first 3 rounds (LA in 2014 faced San Jose, Anaheim and Chicago and their total of 334 points....Saturday's appearance on NBC was the first time ever the Jets appeared on American network TV....the decibel meter in Bell-MTS Centre hit 112.4 on Thursday night at the viewing party as the Jets wrapped up their series against Nashville, with only about 7,000 fans in the building.....Winnipeg and Vegas are the first two rookie participants in the Western Conference Final since Anaheim and Minnesota in 2003.....with 8 years of combined residency in their respective cities, this is the youngest franchise match-up in the playoffs since Colorado (1st year) and Florida (2nd year) met in the 1996 Stanley Cup Finals....this is the first time either team has trailed in a playoff series this year.

Who else wants to beat Vegas in 4 just to shut them and their fans and the media up?

Jets reading their press clippings. Just handed the series to Vegas. Big uphill battle now.

Did Buff Stastny or Wheeler play tonight?

I think they need more toughness... If Kulikov is healthy.. I'd consider replacing Enstrom.. I like Toby but hes a little soft. Im not concerned tho.. Jets are the better team... More talent... They were just off like Game 6 vs Nashville.

I think they looked tired and will actually benefit from a couple games on the road.

Just another one of those games.  It's tough at this point and if you ain't on, you ain't winning.  I'm not worried.

Well bettman needs to make this a series to appease the owners.

Ive notice a distinct bias in reffing during the first four games of most series. Usually to keep one team running away with the series.

Do you honestly believe this is true?

I keep on telling myself, as per Wheeler, we aren't going to win every game. Paul Maurice's move for game three.

Refs really took the Jets out of the game imo.  That call on Wheeler was just brutal...

Then they show highlights of how 'hardnosed' Washington is playing... and every highlight would have been a first round suspension ha

refs didn't help, and Fleury did what Fleury does, stole another game that a lesser goalie would have let get out of hand after the first 10 minutes.  Jets didn't get that early goal and then let the air out when LV went up 2-0.  Buff was lost in space most of the game, including on the second goal, when he decided to take a leisurely stroll to the bench for a change.  Oh well, can't win every game.

Not really, but man it sure AF looks like it.

I would welcome a sane explanation.

Not tired so much as they just did not connect the dots.

Speaking of not connecting the dots...Ehlers/Lowry 0 goals.

Buff was the only one that actually saw what was going on and tried to get back into the play.... really bad change by all five guys on the ice and bruuuuutal giveaway by KC

I don't disbelieve it. I really didn't like the call on Wheeler after everything that was let go where the Knights were concerned.

That's exactly it. A few costly errors and a few bounces that didn't go the home team's way last night. It wasn't like the Jets were horrible for the entire game.

you know, last week my dad had asked how many teams we had because it feels like the jets are two different teams.

I kept telling him they are one team, they just have good games and bad games

there's one reason why we should be holding our heads high for getting this far.  Vegas has no real rookies, and so they make far fewer mistakes.  Connor and Laine are super young and are going to make mistakes, it's just part of the game.  But we have the brighter future for sure, as Connor and Laine are only going to get better.  If we can keep this core together.  I am already looking forward to the total domination we should be experiencing next year with these young guys getting all of this playoff experience.  It feels like the Oilers in 1983.
