Unfortunately, it does not appear to be headed in that direction. The right-wingers are being urged on by not only Trump but many in the GOP as well. The sales of firearms and ammunition is spiralling upward, the rhetoric is escalating and the incidents of right-wing and police attacks on non-violent protestors are not being challenged by Department of Justice for civil rights violations. Sooner or later some on the left will respond in kind, and if Trump is in still in power, he will inflame the situation by praising the racists. The next civil war that is pending will not be an all-out conflict as in the most recent one, but armed skirmishes within the inner cities while the police essentially stand by and even offer tacit support to the white supremacists. When the Nazis started ascending to power in Germany, the police and military supported them and did not act out of conscience at all, so we can expect much the same in the US.
