US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

What a patriot

Outgoing Obama administration warned the incoming one, that Flynn was a ardent admirer of the Russian regime, had questionable dealings with a number of their satellite agents (like in Ukraine) and posed a ongoing security risk.
Of course, it turns out that these were exactly the qualities Trump was looking for in a NSA.

I was originally going to post this in the Covid thread... but I feel it speaks more to the politicization of the Pandemic more than the facts:

"A breath-taking moment of situational awareness on live television."

I have to say, there should be more recognition of Brian Williams' masterful shade-throwing ability.

If Biden is waiting for Turtle to come give him a pat on the back and say" good job let's get down to work" he doesn't remember what Turtle did to Obama. If Biden wants to make a difference and get things done he needs both Senate seats in Georgia and McConnell out as majority leader.

and maybe enforce term limits in the senate?

That would change nothing as the same fools who elected McConnell and all would simply elect another, equally daft and corrupt senator.

I dont understand why people even cover her anymore... she has the least amount of credibility among ALL the press secretaries- and that is saying  A LOT.  Just waiting for her to hold up more reams of paper as proof to whatever the **** she is ranting about....

Depressingly true. It's that straightforward and the only realistic way to help the average American if Biden's administration is committed to following through on it's platforms.

It would be a gesture of great value if at least the mainstream media simply boycotted ot walked out of McNinny's so-called press briefings. Neither she nor Trump nor the GOP deserve the airtime.

Right up there with Sarah Sanders wanting to be known as a "honest person"

100 days? Is that longer than 2 weeks?

Damn... I never thought I would see the day when the GOP goes all cult or completely spineless to the point they would start cannibalizing their own... this tweet is a slight exaggeration, by really concerning.

Here’s How Rudy Giuliani’s Push for a Preemptive Pardon Could Backfire

Imagine what the old Rudy Giuliani, United States attorney, crime-buster, and thorn in the side of organized crime, would think of the current iteration. This is the last gasp of Donald Trump’s administration, and that means it’s pardon-seeking time for a subset of America’s felons. Those most likely to be successful, if past is prologue, are those who are supporters of Trump, have some sort of celebrity link, or who had knowledge of but kept quiet about Trump’s misconduct.

One person reportedly seeking a preemptive pardon is none other than Rudy Giuliani. While the president’s personal attorney contested the New York Times report on Tuesday that the two had discussed a pardon as recently as last week—which would mean that the pair furiously fighting the election results are well aware Trump lost the election and will be leaving office next month—he notably didn’t say that he hadn’t discussed a pardon or that he wouldn’t accept one.

Imagine what the old Rudy Giuliani, United States Attorney, crime-buster and thorn in the side of organized crime, would think of the current iteration, a man under investigation by the office he used to lead trying to persuade Trump to save him from the possibility of going to federal prison for his corrupt behavior.

Here’s How Rudy Giuliani’s Push for a Preemptive Pardon Could Backfire (thedailybeast.com)

(Julianni's conduct in the courts and outside of the courtroom ought to get him disbarred at the very least, even if he is pardoned by Trump proactively.)
