US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

One of the Biden vehicles was hit by a Trump vehicle, whether by accident or design but the police were present and did.....nothing. Should it come to violence, it is pretty obvious whose side the police would be on.

A lot of us are hoping more bark than bite. Bluster away until they tire themselves out.

Unfortunately, it does not appear to be headed in that direction.  The right-wingers are being urged on by not only Trump but many in the GOP as well.  The sales of firearms and ammunition is spiralling upward, the rhetoric is escalating and the incidents of right-wing and police attacks on non-violent protestors are not being challenged by Department of Justice for civil rights violations.  Sooner or later some on the left will respond in kind, and if Trump is in still in power, he will inflame the situation by praising the racists. The next civil war that is pending will not be an all-out conflict as in the most recent one, but armed skirmishes within the inner cities while the police essentially stand by and even offer tacit support to the white supremacists. When the Nazis started ascending to power in Germany, the police and military supported them and did not act out of conscience at all, so we can expect much the same in the US. The only hope is that Trump has insulted the US military so much and so often that they may well decide to support his ouster.

ofox news host pirro re kid who murdered three people

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro called Kyle Rittenhouse, the teenager charged with fatally shooting two people in Kenosha, Wis., "innocent" and "demonized" in a Tuesday interview.

He then added: “So are we really surprised that looting and arson accelerated to murder? How shocked are we that 17-year-olds with rifles decided they had to maintain order when no one else would?”

Dems need to look at Rupert Murdochs role in the current state of things.

👁‍🗨 Another chance to be with the in crowd

Trump is planning to hold his election night party in the East Room of the White House. They’re discussing inviting roughly 400 people, a huge amount for an indoors event during the pandemic.

Wow this is... the second one?

Wow, never thought I would get a chance to use this twice:

What a mess!

First it was...Trump has finished and left, but there’s thousands of supporters who have been let loose into the night with no sign of the shuttles they’ve been told will take them back to parking. People are filling the street, blocking the road for ambulances and police. D.J.Judd

Then : Tim Murtaugh - We have 47 buses taking supporters back to parking. The line is moving and there are heating tents set up. Security and staff are helping people.

And : Your tweet is more than an hour later. Seems to confirm the accuracy of the original post. ^^3 buses for sure, can be seen.

And: Buses arrived eventually, after someone realized what a ****** up thing to do it was to leave all those people stranded.

👁‍🗨 There was a report (unconfirmed) that buses had left because they heard other bus companies hadn’t been paid, so they left.

Either way buses weren’t there for up to two hours and weren’t there waiting for passengers before the speech ended like most major events.

But their usefulness to Trump, was already over.     A familiar theme....

I don’t know if it was the infringement or the shtty way Trump dances to their music, but the Village People band has asked the Trump campaign to stop using their music in their campaign rallies.

Cops Pepper-Spray Voters as They March to Polls in NC

“I saw a little girl, probably five, being carried off sobbing and coughing. She was dressed as a fairy or a princess,” one attendee said.

GRAHAM, North Carolina—On the final day of early voting in North Carolina, police in Alamance County pepper-sprayed a group of voters who were marching to the polls, leaving demonstrators injured and vomiting in the streets.

At least one journalist was arrested in the chaotic showdown on Saturday in Alamance County, a red county but one that may decide which party controls the state legislature next year.

About 250 people—most of them Black—were taking part in an event called I Am Change Legacy March to the Polls and on their penultimate stop before visiting a polling place in downtown Graham when cops intervened.
