US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

It's amazing how Fox is legally allowed to operate as a arm of the GOP without facing the same advertising and funding restrictions. The whole system is broken.

Trump, his administration, his family, influential enablers and certain propaganda outlets have really exposed the erroneous assumption a lot of us made that there was a secure system in place (not perfect but there) to deter and/or deliver consequences for unconstitutional and/or illegal behaviours/acts by a current ruling party in the U.S.A. The system in place is just words on paper nothing more, Trump confirmed that loud and clear.

Anyone lurking out there that thinks this is absurd to say convince me otherwise I'm feeling quite cynical right now.

Now we know why LaBron James was front and centre in their meetings this week. In June, the Atlanta Hawks offered their arena for voters and in July, James offered up Dodger Stadium as a venue for voting.

The development is part of James' More Than a Vote initiative, and it will mark the first time that a MLB team has turned its stadium into a voting venue.“

We'll see how much better you do in ‘court’ proceedings...

Actually, I guess there will be a lot of interest when you get served.

Get ‘em to vote...67 days til Nov 3 Election Day.

Its absurb to say that the system was secure.  GWB admin was absolutely corrupt and stole massive amounts of $$ from the American people - Trump is not an aberration, he is a natural progression - Roger Stone, etc have all been in place since Nixon...

The question is... was the 'system' ever not corrupt or do we just have more access to information now?

Trump's third wife doesn't think much of them either. But, she's a pretty horrible person herself.

Sure, for decades, seen all kinds of stuff, go down.

But, the big difference here, whether it is abusing executive branch powers, attacking judicial and legislative branches, dismissing traditional allies, cozening up to dictators, enriching himself and family, nepotism, burning down the emoluments clause or the Hatch Act, treating any major crisis like a political football, politicizing the DOJ, endorsing fascists, and inciting class and culture warfare......

....is simply how blatantly and openly Trump goes about all of this.....literally shoving it right into peoples faces.  The more he gets away with it, of course the more the Don will push the envelope.  It also helps that the current Republican Party is now merely a gutless bunch of total lackeys, and complete flunkies....who spend their time face planting and kowtowing to the mighty Trump.

I'm sure, if he did, Fox would do a one hour breakdown of Biden riding a bike, explaining how weak he is and must be very ill.

I can’t find the tweets but one person asked why Trump was windmilling like that and another responded that it was a side effect of windmill cancer. 😆

However how much does that influence an undecided voter in who they vote for and whether they vote.

I bet you didn’t know that...
Trump named Biden a staggering 41 times during his RNC speech.

He should.   The Biden administration has done a terrible job of managing things, the last number of years.   Vote Trump for real change.....
