US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

interesting interview with the guy who wrote the rules governing the Special Council and his take on the Mueller Report using his SC rules.

Wait what... is this fox?

Impeachment...

So... what do they do?

Does congress use what is in the Mueller report to start impeachment proceedings (cuz there is MORE than enough for that) and do what is the right thing and "cleansing the office... and restoring honor and integrity to the office.”. Kind of like do you constitutional duty and protect the office.

or...

Hold off Impeachment proceeding because it is politically disadvantageous to do so. Democrat controlled congress starts and passes impeachment articles... republican controlled senate and cocaine mitch quash it because they are ******* cowards and it's party over country with those folks... and trump claims complete vindication and boosts his chances for re-election... holding off impeachment proceedings and let that hing over the rest of his presidency and boost the chances of a democratic win for POTUS and thus removing him from office that way- literally by the people.

interesting scenario for the Democrats... kind of damned if they don't (not doing their job in congress) damned if they do ("exoneration" by the cowards in the senate).

At least one 2020 candidate weighed in and took a stance:

"There are times when it's beyond politics, when it is a point of principle to stand up and say, no president can do this. Because it matters."

she's not wrong.

There are a couple of good journalists on Fox, Shep is one so is Baier and Wallace, Cavuto is not bad but the rest are just shills for the Republicans and particularly Trump.

they gotta have a couple actual reporters to keep the news part of their name no doubt.

Yeah- it's good to see. But it is still weird to see anyone critical about trump on fox.

The house has a duty to impeach if they believe the president broke the law

but politically it probably makes more sense to condict further investigations that can perhaps climax closer to the election.

If you get close enough then you can use the excuse that if trump is going to lose anyway then the legal recourse is grand jury indictment of him when he leaves office rather then impeachment.

But honestly I expect someone to put forth articles of impeachment  fairly quickly.

Great little tweet thread. Follow the link.

I love his referral to "rube nation"... its funny, pretty accurate- but unfortunately, doesn't help the discourse.... still ******* funny though.

good thread- thanks for sharing.

Good point

The risk is that the American public will tire or it and turn on the Dems. But if Dems play it right the candidates can ooont to the duty of congress and deflect questions.

I agree.

How can this man be allowed to continue as President.

A non stop Lying, lecherous, stupid, nasty, selfish, cashing in any way he can,  dangerous dunce.

He's reduced the country to an international joke.

Americans have zero pride.

It's a disgrace.

Is this a serious question?

We all know he's a fake billionaire- only most know that the pee pee tape is real.

C'mon, when Giorgi Rtskhiladze texted Mickael Cohen, “Stopped flow of tapes from Russia but not sure if there’s anything else. Just so you know….”

that was next level trolling using "flow"...lol

Tough call... I'm going with pee tape.

No way, Trump would lose his mind if people actually saw his finances. Guy is all about projecting his image. Being wealthy is what defines him in his own mind, if he didn't have that he'd have nothing.

Seeing his finances is a different animal than just finding out he is a fake billionaire- we kinda already know that he isn't.

But... prostitutes... golden showers... and video.... video... there is something more visceral about having video kompremat...

It's like the difference of knowing Bob Kraft got a paid happy ending vs video of it... once seen... it can not be unseen.

Uhg, I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Adam Schiff not a given on impeachment. That's weak.

For Trump personally?  When Comedy Central roasted Trump years ago there was only one subject he wouldn't allow the roasters to touch, whether or not he actually was a billionaire.  He is insanely sensitive about it.  Probably has recurring nightmares about it. So for sure people finding out he's (maybe/probably) a fake billionaire.  The fool would probably be proud of the peepee tapes if they came out.

For his reelection chances then I'd say the peepee tape.  His base wouldn't care but there's some undecided voters out there that would probably see that as a reason not to vote for him.  The billionaire reveal would hurt at first but then Trump would probably try to explain it away by blaming Hilary and making up a lame new nickname for the current Democrat frontrunner.  And it would somehow work lol.

President Donald Trump discussed classified information during an Oval Office meeting on May 10, 2017 with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, providing sufficient details (including the city where the threat was detected) that could be used by the Russians to deduce the source of the information and the manner in which it was collected, according to current and former government officials.[2][3][4][5][6] The disclosure was first reported in The Washington Post on May 15, 2017. White House staff initially denied the report, but the following day Trump defended the disclosure, stating that he has the "absolute right" to "share" intelligence with Russia.[7]

It was later reported that Israel was the source of the information

Moron.

I think that Israel has Trump over a barrel.
