He also says that the available QB's are expecting #1 QB money, which I find hard to believe and that they aren't looking at any of the available QB's. IIRC (Listened to it once a couple of days ago).

I'm pretty sure he was speaking more generally about players in FA when he said that, not specifically about QBs (also listened to it once a couple of days ago).

Just a suggestion but maybe they could have made some playing time for Knox in that last game against the RB's if he is the future MLB.  They were wrong about Kuale, wrong about Hurl....crossing my fingers on this gamble.

So many people have been down on Wild as our MLB because of his size.

According to the roster, Wild and Know are virtually identical. For season reason I was under the impression that Knox was quite a bit bigger.

Real game as in the rules of the game stay the same. Kick off then play from the point you return it to and see if you can't score. If you don't score then you have to punt the ball back to the other team. If you manage a FG, the other team gets a chance to match or beat you. If you score a TD, then you win outright, which is the one problem that most folks seem to have with the NFL rules. Both sides getting a turn on offence wouldn't make it more like a real game. Having 2 15 minute halves would.

CFL OT rules have no kick off or punts. You start at the 35 either score a FG or a TD then the other team takes over at the 35. You get no advantage for moving the ball better or further than the other team. It's basically a shoot out format, where you eliminate a lot of the games intricacies.

I also dislike this part of our OT.

Baseball doesn't have two ways to score, a FG and a TD. If NE could only score a FG, the game would have continued.

I like the NFL's 'play a real game of football in OT' over the CFL's start in FG range and see who can score a TD. I wouldn't mind each team getting a shot to play offense, but I don't see that as as big a problem as the NE haters around here do.

I don't see how you can refer to it as a "real game of football in OT" if I team can score a TD and win. If both sides got a drive, then it would be a real game simulation.

I have a suspicion that money was only part of reason both sides put a pin in it for now.  Rather the Bombers didn't want to make any claims they might not keep regarding Glenn's spot on the depth chart.  Everyone is assuming Glenn would be the back up but there have been signs for a while that this team is looking for Davis to take a step forward.  Even last year Glenn sat in the #3 spot long after the "learning the playbook" justification had any merit left.  Davis was the first QB that got signed this offseason.  I'm not going to read anything more into that than the obvious - there is no doubt that the Bombers want Davis here.

So maybe the conversation went like this: The Bombers told Glenn they want him but he might be 3rd on the depth chart and he might have to take a very incentive laden contract as a result; Glenn said cool beans Kyle but I'm 745 years old and this could be my last contract and I don't wanna go out like that, you get me homeslice?; Walters says yo Kevs, there is only love in my heart for you, no disrespect at all, just always wanna be keepin it 100 with you, ya dig?; and Kevin digs so they hug it out and promise to keep digits at the ready both knowing that the next time they see each other it will be from opposite sides* of the field.

*Unless Glenn signs with an eastern team of course, cause those stadiums were drawn up on the back of an IHOP place mat.

    Brilliant.

Actually they didn't offer him a contract. They said they didn't know how much money they would have for him until after Nichols signed. If he hasn't signed elsewhere by the FA Day, they might make a formal offer.

Perhaps they didn't officially offer him a contract (or maybe they did, I don't know either way), but Walters said he told Glenn they had x amount of dollars to spend on the QB position and Glenn asked to be released to see if there was a better offer.

Interesting.  Some players will be signed, others will not.

Walters mentioned this in a recent interview regarding Glenn as well.

They offered him a contract that fit with what they could afford to pay for a back up QB, but he asked to be released to see if other teams were slotting for more in that spot. It could still happen that Glenn doesn't find more money on the open market and we resign him.

The two teams in the finals have backups that could/should be legit starters in the league...  Looking over his shoulder upped Hank's game and Tate ended up being fine supporting BLM.

Nichols-Franklin-Glenn with Davis as 4th would be a pretty impressive lineup...  start transitioning Glenn into QB or Receivers coach

You have way too many dollars tied up at the QB situation there.

  9. Normally teams are signing players right now using extra cap space from the previous season. It is good roster and cap management.

However, the scuttlebutt this year is that we don't have any extra cap space in order to do that. So, you're right, it's not great news. It's not surprising though.

Montreal gave up a 1st for Adams. Nichols ain't starting there. Toronto gave up a 1st for Willy plus They have Ray still. Nope.

Sask? Jones sent him packing once and doubt will pay him 450 K or close. .

Nichols had a good year but he's not even close to being in that elite level. So shouldn't be paid like he is.

Remember that Kavis Reed and Matt Nichols spent three years together in Edmonton (Though Nichols was injured for most of it).

    He may be a fan.

I really don't understand what you're trying to say. I'm just commenting on the fact we don't hear or see gun commercials on radio & tv. That's all I was alluding to.

It was a reference to the Simpsons, when Homer bought a gun and Marge was giving him a hard time about it.

It was a hilarious post, but not one that was disagreeing with you.

That's exactly the point... a lot of people are suggesting we need a top-end canadian receiver... and this connversation just proved that there are very few... there's reliable but declining guys like Bagg and Getzlaf... there's good, but not all-start type guys like Gore, Ianuzzi and Cooehorn.... I would be happy finding someone at the same quality of the 5 guys I just mentioned... but there are very few top-end Canadian receivers in the CFL...

There's also only one team that wins the Grey Cup.

And the team that did depended greatly on their superb NI receiver.

That sucks... I forgot that PR guys get immediately released after the season... just looked, the Riders signed Thomas Mayo too...

    That also sucks.

Not sure if they snuck under our noses on these guys or we simply didn't want to resign them, but it seems like we've wasted a lot of development time on positions of need for nothing.
