My argument is because the team is winning, he is going to be overrated because the QB is always going to get a lot of credit. I'll give him some, he's done enough to not lose more often than not but record is easily the worst way to measure a QB in terms of actual ability. I would argue there is no conceivable way that he is top 3 but even if he were, he is so far behind your top 2 that it would be disingenuous to suggest that he is "elite" solely because he's third in your ranking.
I can't name another QB who would be #3.
I'm trying not to be a homer, but I'm not putting any of the East QBs ahead of Matt. You can't rate Ray up there just because of the legacy. Harris can't finish games. Who else is potentially there?

Don't understand.

Hes top 3
Its been 19 and hes 14 and 5 in those games. Thats elite but i went with option 3... Not yet but getting there.
True.
Mike Reilly got his shot late in life (He was 28 first season in Edmonton) and is really coming into his own. No reason why Matt, who is in his first season as a starter, can't continue to grow his game the way Reilly has.

He's not on the same level as Mitchell and Reilly, so no, I can't call him elite.
As others have said though, he's playing more than well enough to win us games and if the rest of our team can raise their level of play, he could be a Grey Cup winning QB, no question.

With so many great breweries in Winnipeg, would it be too much to ask to partner with say .. Half Pints? Peg Beer Co? Torque? to get some descent beer on tap ..
Make it happen Miller!
This needs to happen.
Make it all local! (Although they'd probably start charging $17/beer).

is it an argument of Glenn as a bomber or Glenn as he is now? Nichols is better then Glenn as he is now, imo.. Glenn as our starter.. thats a tough call..
The post I quoted was talking about Glenn in his prime.
I can't put any QB who hasn't played a full season ahead of a guy who brought us to the Grey Cup.
That said, I do really like Matt Nichols, but we can't use what we think he might do to put him ahead of a guy who has already done it.

Okay. I did forget about Khari Jones.
So Nichols MIGHT be the best QB we've had since Khari Jones. (with apologies to Kevin Glenn...Glenn was a decent QB for us and we should not have cut him years ago, but Nichols at this point is maybe better than Glenn was at his prime...very hard to gauge that of course cause I think Nichols has a very good offensive line and good receivers...best offensive set we have had for many years.
Nichols is definitely surprising me. Managing the game well. Throws deep well. His scrambling is pretty crappy, but oh well.
Nichols has also never started a full season...
Never passed for 20 TDs...
Never won us a play off game...
Maybe let him be our starter for one full season before you anoint him over Glenn, who did a lot of good things while a Bomber.

Noeller and I had a discussion about this yesterday and I honestly need to wait and see if this is worth anything or not. My initial suspicion is that it places too much emphasis on wins, because let's be honest teams that win a lot in the CFL generally have good qb play because there are so many other things going well for the team that it makes the qbs job easier. It's also unfair to a qb who plays really well and has the defence crap it's pants on him, like Nichols in the playoff game last year.
One of those things where I think they are trying too hard to make an individual stat work in a game that is so reliant on team work.
Wins only account for 10%, I believe,

We'll probably just bring back a trusted veteran like Kuale.
We already have Hurl as our trusted veteran.

Kind of interesting for those looking into more info about "Who's standing out"...
Great article.
but yeah, I haven't heard a couple of those names before today. Tahaan Goodman had 2 picks? Who is that?

2006! Dante Booker, Onterrio Smith and Henri Childs. Great names in the mix there.
That was also the year Duncan O'Mahony didn't show up to camp because he went missing.
I remember Charlie Roberts was all offended when we brought in Onterrio Smith. Thought it was disrespectful when we brought in competition for him.
I really liked Henri Childs when he was here though.

I think my dad can challenge for that belt.... many a times he has flipped out and swore so much that I slowly inch away from him out of embarrassment. He tends to really flip out whenever small children are near by.... The best is that now that he is older he flips out instantly when a flag is thrown without even waiting to see if it's the opposing team getting the penalty.
My dad too! I try to watch away games with my parents to get in some family time (and ease my guilt of not visiting enough), but it's honestly horrible. Flips out on every play call that doesn't go for a TD and always tries to turn the game off early if we're behind.

Way prefer Edmonton to Hamilton from a personal perspective.
The wife has family out in Edmonton, I could totally make this work.
