Matthews would probably have to start on the 3rd line as a center and work his way up. I highly doubt he'd be ready for 2nd line center duties off the bat. He'd be eaten alive defensively like Eichel and to an extent mcdavid was this year.
-
No. Part of the reason guys play in Europe is because when drafted they could play in the nhl or ahl. A guy like dubois or Tkachuk can only play in the nhl or go back to junior. It's obviously not a huge part of the reason but let's pretend that the jets draft Laine Puljujarvi or Matthews. They could play for the moose next year.
-
Points aren't the only way to judge a d man. Trouba put up the same amount of points as Hamonic and everyone wants him here badly.
-
I think if you put stu on waivers he clears and can go play on the moose. The nhl has passed Stuart by. He would be a good vet tho on the moose. Same with thorburn for that matter. These "good in the lockerrom" guys shouldn't be holding any younger players back. They should be in the A showing them the way. Wouldn'tbe surprised if stu or Thor or both are in the A with the moose soon. Don't see any team in the league claiming them. If they do. Great. If not. You get some much needed vet leadership for the moose. The Jets don't need those 2 when they have buff Wheeler Perreault Little Stafford even as vets.
-
Not as high as James Patrick's son.
-
Matthews Laine Puljujarvi Dubois in that order 1 to 4. Probably Tkachuk 5th.
-
Now we wait to find out if trouba WANTS to be here. I'd go 5.5 max. If he wants more... trade him
-
For sure the fact that he comes across as a smug know it all plays a factor. I just find people who talk down to people and use words that the majority of people don't use annoying as hell. Doug comes across as someone who knows it all and is somewhat bitter
-
Former ECW star Balls Mahoney has passed away. RIP to an entertaining character and genuine person. Xanta Claus at one point also lol
-
Bottom line. They are in the business of winning hockey games. Tanev Lemieux Dano all have more potential and quite frankly are already better than thorburn
-
Roman is gonna turn heel soon. It's pretty obvious and that was the best raw of the year
-
Connor Scheif Wheeler Perreault Little Ehlers That's better Ehlers and Little actually put up good numbers when they played together.
-
Stuart is actually worse than those of on here says he is. He is one of the worst d men in the league and stats back it up. I love when people say locker room guy cuz really.... are we running a day care or trying to win hockey games
-
Teams will want OEL and the yotes owner said they will not trade OEL for Matthews. If they do they become Edmonton really. High end forwards with no elite d Doubt 1st overall is traded. OEL is also UFA in 3 years. Matthews ELC would end then . Dumb trade to make
-
To get OEL we would need to add to our 1st overall pick, OEL is a legit top 5 D man in the league. We add, they certainly do not. Matthews is just a prospect after all, Yeah he has the potential to be very good but right now he's just a prospect, We add to our 1st overall to get OEL, I wouldn't do it because... Matthews has the potential to be a top elite franchise face, We aren't at the point in time where we trade our first round picks and definitely not 1st overall if we win it. Not a chance. Jets say thanks but no thanks and take Matthews and maybe make a trade elsewhere to address team needs. I honestly could see Trouba being shopped around a bit, And wouldn't be surprised if he is traded actually. I'm not sure but... I almost get the sense in listening to Maurice especially that they expect their young players to bust their ass in the off-season and work out and be ready to go come training camp. The knock on Trouba has been pretty much that he seems to not do that in the off season. I could see him being moved. Let's just leave this here... I think it's more likely that if we win the draft lotttery, we keep our pick. I also think it's quite likely that Trouba could very well be traded if they feel he is not fully committed to being here long term. I mean really, if Trouba is hesitant to sign long term here (who knows exactly), That you could flip him for an equally talent LHD man if need be. Take Matthews. Trade Trouba for that young LHD guy, not OEL but someone more similar to Trouba... Maybe a guy like Lindholm in Anaheim, or a guy like Murray or even Werenski from CBJ, Provorov from Philly... These are guy's i'd be looking at in return for Trouba. Why the heck would anyone but the Oilers pass up on a possible franchise center. They wouldn't. Of the top 6, Edmonton is the only team who would probably consider trading it. I don't think TML, VAN,CBJ,CAL or WPG does. Heres an interesting thought.. We win the Lottery, Arizona wins the 2nd or 3rd overall pick... 1st Trouba for 2nd or 3rd plus OEL? I'd consider it for sure.

They apparently only have 1 other coach on the O side of things not including Austin. That's crazy.
-
KBF: That Penticton tournament while a good thing, shouldn't be taken as something overly serious. It's really just to get the guys feet wet, Connor will just be learning to play the PRO game, keep in mind, these guys have very little practice time together and it's their really first time skating as a "team" all summer. Kid is gonna be a good one tho.
-
Sure Let's try this... Goalies Pav - He gets an F - Sorry but he's getting paid big bucks and putting up numbers similar to guys on league minimum. That matters. He has been one of the biggest issues this year and in the past years for sure. When is enough enough with this guy? Hutch - D. He was pretty bad at times and pretty good at times. His numbers are similar to a guy getting paid 4 or 5 x the amount that he is. He might be as bad as PAvelec but at the same time, he got paid peanuts compared to Pavelec Helle - B. What more do you expect from the guy? Played really well, won games we had no business of winning, played at a time that the Jets had a very hard time scoring more than 2 goals a game really. Played quite well. D men Buff - A. He signed a new deal, committed to WPG and the Jets. He put up good numbers and was solid defensively. Good Buff for sure. Myers - B. Had a slow start but really picked up his game. Solid Contributor for sure. Trouba - C. I guess i'll say the Stuart effect played a role here but... at the same time, he's a young developing D man who showed some pretty good potential, People talk about wanting a defensive D man, Trouba seems to be developing in to that guy. Get him away from Stuart and he plays much better. Enstrom - C . Yeah he's small, yeah he's paid a ton, yeah he struggled but... he's our best LHD man by far Stuart - F. Really, why bother with this guy anymore. He's regressed badly Chiarot - D. Really struggled for most of the year, only looked semi capable when playing with Buff, not a top 4 d man, but might be ok playing his proper side on the bottom pairing Melchiori - B. Guy looked like a tire fire on the Moose, looked calm and strong on the Jets, still a bad skater and pretty slow, call him Stuart JR i guess but... he actually surprised me with how well he played altho he did play some very sheltered minutes Forwards Ehlers- B. Solid rookie year for The Dashing Dane. Got better as the year went on and got better the second he got away from Thorburn. Worst coaching move of the year is putting a kid with that much skill with a plug like Thorburn. Scheif - A. He turned in to that top line center that they thought he would be, Guy was a force and his line with Ehlers and Wheeler absolutely dominated, A great example of this is against LA, Sutter got the Kopitar line away from ESW cuz ESW owned Kopitar. Wheeler- A. He's our best all around player. Leader. Little - C. Off year for Mr Little for sure, not as good as he was last year or the years before. Perhaps would have reached 20 goals but...he had a down year Perreault - C. Again, not as good but consistent, injuries seem to be a concern with Perrault Stafford - C. Say what you want but he put up 20 goals yet again, not good in his own zone at all and doesn't really seem to fit in to what the Jets are building but a solid contributor in the O zone who went missing for huge stretches of the season, needs to be more consistent but he is what he is. Burmi - D. Sorry but didn't impress me at all, had a solid maybe 10 games but the other 72 were pretty lacklustre, Might make a good 4th line guy who can PK but with the talent we have, not sure he has a place on the team in the future. Lowry - D. Just though he struggled mightily. Has very little O instinct but at the same time is a good D zone player, He'd be a damn fine 4th line Center tho Thorburn - D. Theres going to be a theme here among our bottom 6, Really struggles in his own zone badly, not a smart player at all, should be in the press box next season if this team is serious about trying to win games. Would like to see him traded as I feel that he has naked pictures of Maurice or something because, no way should Thorburn be playing 3rd or 2nd line minutes EVER on this team and he did this year, Really guys who play with him, they basically seem to produce nothing Copp - C. Had lower expectations for him than i DID lowry so Copp gets a C. Kid has some skill for sure, seems to be strong in his own zone and seemed to have concentrated on that more this year, But showed some pretty good O potential when paired with guys who have some skill. Keep him away from Thorburn and he's a good player. That Petan Copp Armia line was very very good. Peluso - NR. Didn't play enough. Dano - NR - Liked what I saw from him, goes to the dirty areas where other Jets players don't, saw him open lots of times in front of the net, good in the D zone and a guy who likes to throw the body around, Not Rated due to just not enough of a sample size really Armia - C. The Enigma for sure. Looked amazing at times, not so much at others. Really good bottom 6 player who has some pretty high end skill and is very good in his own zone, Needs to show more finish tho, But is a perfect 3rd line RW. Petan - NR - Again not really enough of a sample size for him but... from the start of the season when he was with the big club to the last 10 or so games he was here was night and day for sure, PAC was our 2nd best line the last several games, high end skill for sure. Maurice - I dunno what to grade him. He's the coach and the team had good individual play but... he made some very interesting head scratching coaching decisions... He said the PP and PK were on him so need to take that in to account also... I'll give him a C - because i think there were coaches in the league who had less talent on their team that got more out of them, Don't like Maurices love affair with guys like Stu and Thorburn, it hurts the team. Don't like his handling of some of the younger guys at times, putting Ehlers with Thorburn was just stupid. C - Chevy - B. Jets did what they said they were gonna do, They got younger (that wasn't the issue tho), he signed Buff to a big deal, traded Ladd for what will be a pick in the 20 to 24 range, got a nice prospect in Dano, Signed Tanev when 4 or 5 other teams were interested also.. plus just signed Kyle Connor so all in all, i think Chevy did a good job and I think some people are actually a little bit 2 hard on the guy. It's hard to give chevy a lower grade when i think the bright spots for the team outside of Wheeler and Buff were all guys Chevy has drafted.
-
It's not, It's an ELC... it's more than likely negotiated in the CBA, I'd suspect most guys who sign their ELC's now are getting paid the same amount... Yeah it's more than Scheif made his first 3 years and more than Trouba and Copp and Lowry and Ehlers but Ehlers made more than those guys did too, It's just what it is. It's irrelevant tho. No need to worry about it at all. In a few years that 1.77 is gonna look like peanuts.

Hamonic has injury concers, concussion issues and now whatever this one is, I'd be ok with getting Hamonic but i wouldn't want to give up much.. Chychrun? Is his ceiling really that much higher than a guy like Sergachev or Juolevi? I'm not sure or convinced it is, D men are impossible to project since they generally don't reach their prime until mid to late 20's.. I'd be leery of taking a d man if there were some forwards on the board still, I think really, it comes down to BPA and if lets just say Tkachuk is there and Chychrun,Serg,Juolevi is there, I think Tkachuk is the obvious choice because he is BPA for sure. I get that we need LHD help and all but.... at the same time, you gotta take BPA and if its a tie between a forward and D man, you take the forward. So many good D men in the league are late 1sts or even late round picks, It scares me that people compare Chychrun to Bogosian cuz in my opinion, Bogo might be a good top 4 d man, but he's not a top 2 guy and with a top 10 pick, i dunno, unless you are sure that D man can project to be a top pair d man, I'm not sure you take that guy if there is a forward with similar upside. I still feel they go BPA with their own first (whoever that is, i'm fine with) and i think they go 2 d men with Chicagos and their own pick in the 2nd.

2nd and short and running up the gut out of the shotgun seemed to be his go to play on 2nd down. Pretty predictable play calling, not much creativity at all when looking at teams like Ottawa for example who had guys running all over the place prior to the snap, Using guys to their weakness and not to their strengths like throwing short to Denmark and him needing to make 2 or 3 guys miss instead of using him deep. Just all sorts of crap play calling with MB in charge. Glad he's gone and of all the off-season moves the team has made, i think getting rid of MB and signing Medlock are the 2 biggest ones. Dressler,Smith, etc are nice signings but replacing the OC and getting a very reliable kicker are 2 pretty important moves also.
-
D men have higher bust potential so I think they'd go Tkachuk. I'd probably go Tkachuk also. I don't like picking d men high unless they are can't miss. Chychrun? Lots of question marks there.

We will see what happens. Lottery gods seem to favor teams who don't tank on purpose tho. Bet Toronto and Edmonton won't pick top 3. Wpg CBJ Calgary will have the top 3 picks. Who knows what order tho. I'm just happy we have a team who doesn't roll over and die. Also we will still get a good player wherever we pick. Yeah Matthews Laine Puljujarvi would be nice I'm that order but.... nothing wrong with dubois Tkachuk Nylander Chychrun Sergachev Juolevi Bean Keller either. Jost and Fabbro also. Matthews Laine Puljujarvi are the cream of the crop. After that tho.... who knows. The guy picked at 7 8 9 10 might be better than the guy picked at 4. Guaranteed we go BPA with our first pick and I doubt it will be a d man. Then with Chicago and our 2nd we take a d man.

Helle is 10 x the goalie pav is. It's not even close. Pav is a fish out of water flopping around all the time. Helle is positionally strong. Tracks the puck well. Pav sometimes reacts well after the puck is in the net. Timeto move on from pav. 5 6 years of way below average nhl goaltending is enough. Fun fact.... Hutch started off strong yup and regressed to Pavelec like career numbers. Pav puts up a 906 save percentage he's our starter. Hutch does and he's regressed? Seriously lol. Why do some people not get that pavelec is the worst goalie we have. Him and Hutch have similar numbers. Pav gets paid 4.75 million. Hutch might get 1 million. Hutch is good value. Pav you couldn't trade to a beer league team.

30 starting goalie in the nhl. Ours aren't in the top 30. Pathetic. Backups have better numbers. Where would helle rank
