  1. I listened to it on cjob... nothing really noteworthy (I probably wasn't playing that close attention)... afterwards Geoff Courier was speaking with Knuckles and he had kind of a funny question... I'm paraphrasing here "do you think there's gotta be some kind of catch here. It just seems like we're so used to being let down by this team."
  2. You mean Milanovich and Brady... Willy is now with the Argos...
  3. literally one person suggests Glenn might be the better qb... not sure I'd call that a controversy...
  4. wow... I'm almost tempted to say this trade seems too good to be true... I don't think Glenn is a huge downgrade from Willy... and then we get a first, upgrade a 4th to a 3rd, and get a high quality DB... have to wonder where Heath fits in to an already stacked secondary...
  5. agree... we haven't beaten them this year... but that's not to say we can't...
  6. haha... I remember all the bending over backwards the Riders were doing to explain why they only had a half full house the opening game of 2014.... same situation... garbage weather and delays... except the rider game was a weekend afternoon... with the team coming off a grey cup championship.... not Wednesday night... with a 2-4 team with almost no winning in the past 5 years...
  7. Well... we did go to the Grey Cup that year... so I'm not sure "Kaboom" applies to this situation...
  8. I'm not sure if this is funny or creepy... but I laughed either way!
  9. It's funny that there's arguing going on here when everyone is essentially saying the same thing... we need to keep Willy as insurance... but if the offer knocks our socks off, it would be crazy not to take it...
  10. That might be because back-up QB memorabilia isn't typically a hot seller...
  11. Man if we could get this version of Drew Willy on this team... that could be something special to watch...
  12. So you're trying to tell me I'm not very observant... is it light urple? (early 2000s, SNL celebrity jeopardy reference)
  13. I just had shivers...and almost tears... just imagining that moment...
  14. I think his salary is 170-ish... The way I looked at it is 100k for the best kicker in the league and 70k for an above-average punter... always seemed like a good deal to me...
  15. I've lived in Winnipeg my whole life and now that I work for a local company I don't imagine moving by time soon... I've always thought if I lived in another CFL city, I would probably buy season tickets to that team (yes, even regina)... not that I would necessarily cheer for said team... more just to enjoy a CFL game and cheer for the Bombers when they were in town...
  16. The Washington fellow looked like a hot knife through butter against that Edm D... still waiting for Harris to run one like that this year...
  17. I don't think people are questioning signing him (if that's a possibility)... it's a matter of do we want to pay big NI money for him?... the answer is probably not... I'm not sure what an average NI player makes these days ($100k-ish?) but I think most people would be happy with that... Transcona??
  18. I agree with your respectful disagreement...
  19. I don't think there's much momentum to do this... but a way to consider it while still keeping divisional rivalries is making a playoff format something where the division winners take the top spots and the rest fall where they fall... the current "playoff" standings would look like this: 1. Calgary (bye, play the winner of 4 v 5) 2. Ottawa (bye, play the winner of 3 v 6) 3. BC (home team vs Edmonton) 4. Winnipeg (home team vs Ham) 5. Hamilton (I believe they'd have the tie-break on Edm) 6. Edmonton
  20. It is slightly curious that Winnipeggers are known as being frugal... while simultaneously being quite generous...
  21. Completely agree... love the show tonic on CBC R2 in the evenings... and I always comment to people who hate metal about how phenomenally talented the musicians are... @comedygeek excellent posts... I would have quoted both but they were just too perfect to comment on any further... so many great local/canadian bands just flowing with talent and creativity... which venue do you manage?
  22. I remember when the CFL tweeted the "standings" right before the sask game... some random sask fan said just wait till sask blows Winnipeg out of the water (or something to that effect, I'm paraphrasing)... I laughed at him (real laugh, not internet laugh)...
  23. I remember one of the pluses on him coming out of college was his smarts... which is generally a requirement to play centre... but he definitely seems to be using his head out there...
  24. I've long maintained that I always cheer for the Stamps as my "second team"... my dad was from Calgary and although he was a huge Bomber fan usually jumped on the Stamps bandwagon if the Bombers were out... that being said... the joy, pain, anger, stress I feel while watching a Bomber game is not even remotely close to being matched by watching a Stamps game... and if they play each other, I'll gladly curse out Dickensen, BLM and Messam... because there's no team I hate more than the team playing the Bombers... doesn't mean I can't tolerate another team in a non-Bomber game... Another factor is over the past 10 or so year... we were never even in competition with the Stamps, so it made no difference in the standings... maybe next year I'll learn to hate them as we battle for first place
