Probably based on the NFL study that indicated that was the case.

Maybe it's the CFLPA pushing for the change, cause I can't see any GM's being overly concerned.

And yet, there are tons of people in Saskatchewan who have no issue with that at all.

I think what's interesting to see after doing this exercise is that there's SO MUCH MORE talent coming up from U.S. schools this year compared to last year
I went back and checked and only 11 guys in the CFL draft last year were from American colleges. 6 of those guys are on NFL rosters right now and the 5 remaining in the CFL are Dontae Bull, Cole Tucker, Francis Bemiy, Adam Guillmette, Thomas Bertrand-Hudon
Of the 37 guys in the four round mock something like 20 of them are coming from U.S. colleges and there were others that were left off the list at the end
It's a really good year for the bombers to have an extra second round pick

I actually think more "community owned" teams would be beneficial for the CFL. Private ownership has its own issues, as we have seen terrible owners and also complete lack of good candidates in some cases.

The CFL Combine last week created little buzz for the upcoming season, most media outlets paid no attention to it at all, including league partner TSN.  This has to be the dullest off-season in recent memory, hopefully they bring back the concept of CFL Week next year in Wpg. and they put some effort into creating a bigger spotlight for their product during the off-season. The league has regressed in this department, the biggest story this winter has been bad boy Chad Kelly and we can't even fight about it anymore! 😄

Not sure I get the vitriol towards 3downnation and John Hodge. We all love the CFL. TSN and Sportsnet barely cover any off season news. Even in season, while broadcasting games, TSN is pretty light on content other than game summary articles. 3downnation has been around since 2015 and overall does a better job than anywhere else with CFL news. cfl.ca is good, and Ed Tait writes some really interesting content on bluebombers.com. But 3downnation is really my first stop to get any CFL content that I'm interested in - signings, draft profiles, USports stuff, CFL players in the NFL ... I like what they do. And I am in no way affiliated or compensated by the 3downnation corporation 😃

That was not official Combine that was regional ones to get invites to the main one in Winnipeg next week I think.

Prior to last season Mike Miller was the FB since he arrived in 2018 and he rarely touched the ball.  Doesn't seem like a priority worthy of drafting a specific player to fill the role as it's mainly blocking.  Any left over Natl. LB type could probably fill in adequately including Gauthier.

looks like a bit more of a project but with tons and tons of upside. Might be a guy worth keeping around and coaching up if he doesn’t make the team.

Brown has not been hit yet, that's about to change shortly.  We'll see how his game evolves in time after a couple of rounds on the 6 game recuperating from serious injuries like Zach has.  One thing to note, Brown and Collaros are right around 6'-0", difference is Zach weighs 218 lbs. and Brown is a slender 191 lbs., the difference is muscle mass which has served him well the past 4 years.

Not mentioned in this discussion is that the Natl. American rule did not fulfill it's intended purpose of extending the careers of fan favourite veteran American players who were no longer able to secure starting roles, but were still marketable personnel for their team within their communities.  A player like Darvin Adams comes to mind.
What happened within one week of the season starting is a few teams of low character figured out how to subvert the rule intent and twist it to their advantage.  Both Calgary and BC demonstrated this in week #1, having established starters such Kadeem Carey and Dominique Rhymes listed as backups to no-name players who they replaced after the first snap and played the rest of the game, thus subverting the ratio as the 23 play count applies only to the designated starter.
Same thing was done on defence as teams were permitted to have a designated nationalized American on offence and defence.  Game #1 the Stamps used their defensive designation on veteran defensive back Branden Dozier, who started behind rookie Michael Griffin, the Lions subbed vet. Woody Baron in for Global no-name Tibo Debaillie after one snap.
The blame falls on the league for failing to close an obvious loophole on a rule that may have had good intentions and been worthwhile.  As the rule change failed to achieve what is was designed to do, it should be altered to more accurately serve it's purpose, or immediately be eliminated.
