  1. Only reason Reaves doesn’t get a boarding call there is because DeMelo luckily got up. Totally dirty hit. League always punishes the result, not the act. Bush league.
  2. Haven’t listened to him in a while so I’ll reserve judgment, but I was not a fan when he started out. Too wordy for hockey PBP, always behind on the play.
  3. Sentimentality aside, there’s not really anything wrong with that logic if accurate.
  4. Had a director ever made a bigger name for himself off of so few films? In over 50 years he has directed only 6 films.
  5. We need a shoutout song. A few thoughts, please submit suggestions: Zero from the Smashing Pumpkins Shut Out by Paul Jabara with Donna Summer The Happiest Days of Our Lives/Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd
  6. With an extra 12 seconds of new CGI enhancements for all the nerds out there!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucas has sucked on the teat of this emaciated cash cow so much her name has gone from Bessie to Baggy.
  7. I guess that’s an apology? Not needed, football is a business and he made a business decision.
  8. Tonight’s games and implications of each result: Winnipeg at Minnesota - a Jets win or loss in OT/SO gives them the final playoff spot in the West. A Vegas regulation win and a Colorado regulation loss would also guarantee that the Jets play the Pacific winner in the opening round. A Wild loss in regulation would eliminate them from division title contention. That and a Colorado regulation win would ensure a third place finish for the Wild in the Central. Buffalo at New Jersey - a Sabres loss in regulation would eliminate them from playoff contention. A loss in OT/SO means they could finish no higher than 8th, and if Pittsburgh also wins then a Buffalo loss in any form would eliminate them. A New Jersey win or OT/SO loss guarantees them a top 2 finish in the Metro division and home ice advantage in the first round, and also eliminates NY Rangers from contention for the division title. A regulation loss and a Carolina win would clinch the division title for the Hurricanes. Philadelphia at Columbus - nothing definitive for either team Detroit at Carolina - a Hurricanes win or OT/SO loss guarantees a top 2 finish in the Metro and home ice in round 1. A win and regulation NJ loss clinches the division title. Toronto at Tampa Bay - nothing at stake, these teams will meet in round 1 starting in Toronto. Washington at Boston - nothing at stake, but Boston would set the all-time record for most points in a season with a win. Chicago at Pittsburgh - a Penguins win and a Buffalo loss in any form eliminates the Sabres from the playoffs. A Pens regulation loss and a Buffalo loss in any form also clinches a playoff spot for Florida. Edmonton at Colorado - a Colorado win and a Minnesota loss in any fashion clinches a top 2 spot in the Central for the Avs and home advantage in the first round. An Oilers regulation loss and a Vegas win or OT/SO loss OR any kind of Oiler loss and a Vegas win clinches the Pacific title for the Golden Knights. Seattle at Vegas - a Vegas win and any form of Edmonton loss, or Vegas OT/SO loss and an Oiler regulation loss clinches the Pacific division title for the Golden Knights. A Vegas win and a Colorado regulation loss clinches the #1 seed in the West for Vegas. Vancouver at Anaheim - nothing at stake beyond lottery seeding possibilities, which will still not be set after tonight. There will be a quiz later.
  9. I’m not saying I advocate intentional injuries, but a Morgan Barron through the crease take-out would not be objectionable to me.
  10. Lots at stake tonight with teams still jockeying for position, but only a few certainties depending on the results: First and foremost, a Winnipeg win will eliminate the loser of Calgary/ Nashville from playoff contention. Not even going to talk about any other scenario right now. Buffalo at NYR - a Sabres regulation loss eliminates them from the playoffs. A Rangers regulation loss ensures they won’t win the division. Toronto at Florida - a Panthers win in any way other than a shootout and a regulation NYI loss clinches a playoff spot for Florida
  11. Since Calgary and Nashville play each other, only one of them can get more than 93 points (even if one of them gets a “loser point” on Monday) maximum by season’s end. If the Jets win they hit 93 and hold the tiebreaker in regulation wins against both teams.
  12. 6 days to go and tons still up in the air: Only division set is the Atlantic - 1. Boston (will play #8 seed) 2. Toronto (will play TB w/ home advantage) 3. Tampa Bay (will play Toronto) Metro - Any of Carolina, New Jersey, or NYR can still win the division. Losers will play each other in the 2 v 3 series. Winner plays the #7 seed. East wildcard - Fla, NYI, Pit, and even Buf (needing tons of help) are in the running for both wildcard spots. Pacific - Vegas and Edmonton can still win division. Edm has tie-breaker if they finish tied. LA and Seattle still battling for 3rd, Sea has a game in hand and tie-breaker if they finish tied, loser will be #7 seed. Central - Col, Dal, and Min all still in the running for division title and possibly even #1 seed in West (with help). Losers will play each other in the 2 v 3 match-up. West wild card - Wpg, Cal, and Nas still in play for the #8 seed.
  13. Jets cannot clinch Monday, but with a win will eliminate one team. Need 3 points to clinch.
  14. The Jets will show up. What, that doesn’t clarify things?
  15. How big a school is SFU? Can they afford a football program if they have travel cost concerns about competing in CanWest, like they claimed when they were a part of CIS (as it then was)?I have limited knowledge of budgets and such, but I would imagine football is one of the more expensive programs to run in sports.
  16. Carleton is one example of a program in multiple conferences, having sports teams in both OUA (Ontario) and RSEQ (Quebec). However, SFU is looking to stay in NCAA. Not sure USports would be as willing to allow a crossover into the US as it would a different Canadian province. But SFU seems uninterested anyway. Maybe their board was simply tired of funding a sports program (probably at some decent expense) that was a constant loser for the past 15 years, and found their out.
  17. Maybe next year’s reverse retros - Fanatics edition.
