That may have been a political ad. Or a promo for their GM.

This is the CFL and anything can happen- who expected the Lions to put up such a fight against the Stamps?

Well, he will need a lot of salary to support his couturier and buy all that hair dye.

Matt Nichols Discredited Too Much? Passing Yards Are Meaningless
Enjoy your brief moment of respite from the unfolding tragi-comedy that will be your 2019 season while you can. Another game is looming with all its pathos.

Mostly in Canadian Tire money, I would think.

Lions @ Stamps
Michell did not look his usual unstoppable self for most of the game, and the apparent shoulder problem was just the icing on the cake. It did not look like he had the stuff to pull this one out of the fire and it was a happy occurrence that Mitchell pulled himself out of the game and Arbuckle came in to win the game. Arbuckle did look very good and deserved full credit but unless Mitchell is seriously injured (a possibility), he will start next game. So, we will not likely know if Arbuckle is consistently good for quite a while.

Lions @ Stamps
No matter who you were cheering for, it was a helluva entertaining game. And I am 3 &0 so far this weekend. Now the Argos have to win and I will be happy.

No question he plays hungry. That possibility of returning to the NFL as a gazillionaire is a pretty big carrot.

Lions @ Stamps
Lions doing a pretty good imitation of a CFL team so far, but the wheels will stay on for only so long.

All the defensive changes for the Stamps will mean some discombobulation for a bit. I still expect the Stamps to turn it around and pull away in the second half if not sooner.

Matt Nichols Discredited Too Much? Passing Yards Are Meaningless
I suggest we re-visit this discussion after the next game. The revamped O-line should have gelled more, the opposition will be more anemic and Nichols ought to be more familiar with his receivers, so no excuses for a piss-poor performance, even in a win.

Lions @ Stamps
It should be as lop-sided as the TiCats-Als game.

Matt Nichols Discredited Too Much? Passing Yards Are Meaningless
I don't think that Nichols' performance against the Stamps in the playoffs is a valid assessment. He was dealing with an injury that limited him. However, he has enough Mulligans and its time for him to put up or shut up.

Disagree. I've seen it happen often in the CFL and NFL when the team is winning by a nose and the quarterbacking is sub-par. Its sort of taking your car for a long drive and it sputters and gasps along but gets there. With your logic, you would refuel it and hit the road again. Nichols has to return to his 2017 form to take us to the Promised Land.

But it still comes down to the fact that we have as many Grey Cup appearances as we had when he got here. Not all his fault, but reality is reality and won't go away.

Disagree in that I think that the Bomber defence is as good as anyone's and once Fenner is replaced, it should be better.

It may be too much to hope Ackie will choose the Bpmbers but it would sure be nice if he did.

We had a version of this Nichols/Streveler debate when Willy was in the last of his death throes here. It was painfully obvious that Willy had lost all of his mojo and Nichols was an unknown quantity. It is not quite the same, as Nichols is not in the same dire straights as Willy but the concerns are that Nichols is beginning to show some worrisome traits and we do not know what Big Chris's ceiling is. Nichols deserves a chance to work himself out if this funk but we cannot expect the defence to bail him out every game. If Nchols continues to struggle against Ottawa, serious questions need to be asked about his ability to lead the team to the Grey Cup. Apart from Fenner, the rest of the team appears to have the right stuff, and this circumstance may not happen again, so it may be now or never. Nichols has shown that he can be a good quarterback but the question is, is he good enough? And the only place Fenner should be lining up is at the UI office. He looked as bad last game as any DB we have had of late, and we have had some real turkeys.

Wow. Such sloppy tackling by the Als.

Okay, I'm late posting my 2 cents' worth, but here goes anyways. Nichols was far from good last night but I am willing to cut him a bit of slack due to new receivers and a two weeks' layoff, but the next game he has to do waaay better. His throwing mechanics were off and he appeared indecisive at times. He's a veteran who is supposed to lead by action and example. Adams and Matthews were non-factors for whatever reasons- that has to change. Fenner was a disaster, time and time again- he has no excuses. Bighill has had better games. The Bombers looked like they were trying their damnedest to give the game to the Esks and the Esks were doing their damnedest to not accept it.
