Looks like Claybrooks and Chamblin are competing to be the first head coaches to be fired this season. Problem is: who do the GMs have to replace them? Is Trestman available or interested to be in Vancouver?

We all (at least most of us) knew that Nichols was a good quarterback, but there still was the question whether he was good enough to help the team to the Grey Cup. I posit that the question has been answered now. A good quarterback by himself rarely carries the team, and Mike Reilly with the Lions is living proof of that. Nichols was criticized for not slinging the long ball and getting conservative (no political commentary here) late in the game. As has been posted here already, this was the most dominant performance by the Bombers in a very long time and likely the game of Nichols' pro career. Ottawa is ahead of three other CFL teams but they didn't deserve to be on the same field as the Big Blue.

The actor Bradley Cooper was asked about his emergence as an overnight star, and said, "It took years to become an overnight success". So it is with the Bombers.

Much as I am hoping that the Bombers will win this walking away, I am dreading that the game might turn into a bore-fest like the game last night. I would be happy if the Bomber defence held the RedBlacks to less than 15 points and Andrew Harris ran wild. Would be nice to see some of the bench get into the action.

The BC/Sask game may come down to whether Reilly can adapt his game from slinging Hail Marys to using hot routes to exploit the Rider linebackers who are very suspect.
