  1. This is not a gloom and doom post. It is an acknowledgement that the issues that the Bombers have had all season and have managed to dodge all season due to Nichols having a career best year have come home to roost. These deficiencies, like Hurl and Hall's defensive philosophy will screw us in the playoffs and have been predictable. The only way for doom to be inevitable is to pretend it isn't happening.
  2. Funny, but I was thinking that Calgary would sign him. That batch of receivers they fielded against the Riders were totally underwhelming.
  3. I'm starting to become really annoyed that the three teams were laughing stocks last year and the first half of this one are all getting better and the Bombers cannot even hold their own. We can shrug and blame the injuries to Adams and Leggett, but the warning signs have been there all year. The game against BC is not just "another game".
  4. Agreed that the body slam on Dressler should result in a fine and suspension. Josh Straughn looks like the complete package- NFL quality even. He has the strong arm with a great touch on the ball, plus an unteachable pocket sense of knowing when to roll out, step up or sprint. I'm pretty sure God wasn't blocking or catching for him, though.
  5. Bombers have to come up with a convincing win against the Tabbies. The problem I foresee is that the Lions nearly upset the Esks and are likely quite unpredictable with nothing to lose. This is not gonna be a gimme game for the Bombers and they need to impress the hometown faithful.
  6. Earlier in the season, it was mentioned in a telecast that Medlock had been getting tips from the Rider Aussie kicker. Hmmm......
  7. With all the malaise in the BC locker room, Wally's imminent departure, and the dreadful O-line, Jennings cannot be held responsible for the mess. He will undoubtedly get another chance next year. Despite the recent Bomber losses, Nichols has still looked like a premier quarterback, but I am not sure the team around him and the coaching is good enough to take him to the Grey Cup.
  8. When was the last time our vaunted O-line blew a hole like that open for Harris or Flanders?
  9. This game was a microcosm of the 2017- riddled with a few obvious (to most of us) flaws and almost good enough but not quite. The problems that were there last year are still mostly there- the worst MLB in the league, a porous defence, and a head coach who is apparently loyal to "his" players and staff to the point of stubbornness. Our O-line is suddenly suspect, the offence is absent in critical situations, and the revamped D-line is just not good enough. Yes, BC, Edmonton and Calgary have problems, but our participation in the playoffs is going to be short and ugly. As much as we have mocked the Riders, they have progressed through the last half few games, whereas we have regressed.
  10. Well, this game did NOT go as I expected, or hoped. POS Carter did better than he had any right to.
  11. It would be worth it to see the Jones and the Riders get humiliated with Carter being the goat.
  12. A good addition to our community. Good people should always be welcome.
  13. Since Kavis Reed was told who he was going to hire for head coach as a condition of his job, what reason have we to believe that the same thing isn't going to happen all over again? God knows, Reed's judgement about who to hire would a helluva lot better than the Wettenhall's- we may not like Maas, but he he has been at least average.
  14. Hurl's continued presence at MLB will require at minimum a large bore IV with Everclear.
  15. Sounds more and more like a certain American president, equally stupid and narcissistic except that Carter has talent.
  16. The NFL website listed him a bit heavier and a bit taller, but he sounds very interesting- maybe a Charlie Roberts sort of a player. We can only hope.
  17. We're pretty desperate for reasons to hope at the wide receiver position. It wouldn't take too much for Givens to endear himself to the faithful.
  18. I would bet that is going to happen early and often, and he is also going to either play a lot of man coverage or his zone will be flooded. Dave Dickinson and Bo-Levi must be smacking their chops.
  19. It would have been funnier if Bo had said, "Maybe we don't, but at least our receivers have measurable IQs".
  20. Lankford has some of the tools, but at this point he is best suited to playing drawback.
  21. Is she what the Hobbits meant by "returning to the Shire?"
