  1. So..... if he's coming back, its not Cancel Couture?
  2. I suspect this was the result of an indictable offence and would have leaked out anyways, so they decided to get ahead of it.
  3. 'Self-inflicted wound': Experts stunned After Trump’s late-night release of incredibly incriminating NARA document Former President Donald Trump reportedly released a new document very late Monday night that legal experts believe is incredibly damning. Far-right writer John Solomon, who is one of Donald Trump’s official representatives for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), released a May 10 letter on his JustTheNews.com website. Solomon released a letter from NARA to Trump’s lawyers. “As you are no doubt aware, NARA had ongoing communications with the former President’s representatives throughout 2021 about what appeared to be missing Presidential records, which resulted in the transfer of 15 boxes of records to NARA in January 2022,” the letter read. “In its initial review of materials within those boxes, NARA identified items marked as classified national security information, up to the level of Top Secret and including Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Access Program materials. NARA informed the Department of Justice about that discovery, which prompted the Department to ask the President to request that NARA provide the FBI with access to the boxes at issue so that the FBI and others in the Intelligence Community could examine them.” “Yikes,” tweeted Tufts Prof. Daniel Drezner. Washington Post reporter Olivier Knox said, “this is incredible.” Attorney Bradley Moss wondered, “Does [John Solomon] realize how bad that letter is for Trump? Trump not only had classified records at Mar-a-Lago, not only had TS/SCI classified records, he had Special Access Program classified information, Those are our most sensitive secrets. They were sitting in a damn basement.” Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti said, “The letter also confirms that Trump was on notice that the documents he possessed were federal government property and that he needed to return them to the government’s possession. Very uphill battle for Trump’s team. https://www.alternet.org/2022/08/nara-trump/
  4. McPizza had the same appeal as bird droppings on cardboard- probably as tasty. Could Tim's pizza possibly be worse?
  5. The GOP, federally and state are mounting a vigorous, and mostly successful campaign to ban any and all books that describe American slavery and the civil war in negative terms.
  6. A buck eighty-eight will get you a coffee at McDonalds and not much more- not very therapeutic.
  7. Fear of death and/or dismemberment can be a great motivator.
  8. I see myself as a wit, and my wife thinks I'm half right.
  9. Could he be in a snit over his demotion to the second-best receiver? It was surprising to hear that Oulette (does that mean "small owl?" is an import. However, the Argo O-line is mediocre when at their best, so the ground game suffers for that. I do like Oulette's attitude, though. He ought to do well in the CFL- sort of like Milanovich-Litre with better hands.
  10. Because of our porous O-line and lack of a deep threat, most of the passing plays must, by necessity, be hot routes in the 5-15 yard range, and that is where Ellingson makes a big contribution, so yeah. he better get well soon. On that note, anyone have any insight as to when our regular and very good center will be back?
  11. Couldn't get two more different QBs in playing style as well as strengths. Pipkin has all the tools but appears to be highly resistant to coaching.
  12. Apparently there is a Russian partisan/resistance group inside Russia that was trying to assassinate Dugina (Putin's philosopher who cooked up justification for Putin's invasions of Chechnya and Georgia as well as Ukraine). Dugina and his daughter were supposed to go in one car but at the last minute they separated into two cars, and the explosion killed the wrong person. Shortly thereafter Dugin suffered a heart attack and was rushed to hospital. The Russian FSB (successor to the KGB) refuses to admit the existence of an internal resistance and immediately blamed the Ukrainian intelligence service.
  13. Speaking the truth is NOT gonna get Jean Charest elected as PC leader. Brave of him to say this out loud though.
  14. Michael Cohen Predicts Trump To Use Files To Blackmail FBI Michael Cohen makes wildly impossible-sounding predictions which then come true. Michael Cohen promised Congress that Trump would never peacefully give up power while we said, “Yes, but he’ll have no choice but to peacefully give up power.” We were wrong. So when Michael Cohen says that Trump is going to try to blackmail the FBI to keep himself out of jail. We should probably at least consider that it is a possibility, no matter how absurd it sounds. “He’s gonna use it as a get out of jail free card. It’s a way to extort America turn around to say if you put me in jail, if you go after me — he’ll even say his children — I will have my loyal supporters who you do not know who has copies of information that may have been, and again this is my conjecture, that i would take those documents, I will release them to Iran, to China, to North Korea, to Russia. You want to take me down? I’ll take the whole country down.” “Remember, and I’ve said this with you 1000 times, Mike, Donald Trump doesn’t care about this country. He doesn’t care about anyone or anything other than himself.” It does sound like perfect Trumpian logic. And it may very well be what Trump plans to do with the files, though it seems unlikely that he would only use them for that purpose. They are, after all, worth a lot of money. But it would be a fairly bad calculation on Trump’s part. There is a dawning awareness and appreciation now that this is more than domestic law enforcement and political problem. Given that the entire international community knows that these documents pertained to American nuclear secrets, this is a global stability concern, as well. Even if Trump threatened to release the documents through his own contacts if arrested, the FBI would know that Trump could release some or all of those documents down the road anyway, perhaps just selling them.
  15. In a Sociology class I took in the early 1980's, we spent the whole time looking at the roots of the Nazi emergence in 1920's- 1930's and how it related to the typical German family life and values of that era. We did not compare it to the Reagn-Bush-Trump era but in retrospect, it sure as hell does.
  16. Not if they stick with Mitchell at QB. He is done like dinner.
  17. We have to be cautious about Collaros' health, not panic-stricken. I'm pretty sure that some of the Rider fans are wishing on end of ill on Collaros, and I would feel a heckuva lot better if we had the o-line we had last year, but you go to war with the army you have, not necessarily the army you want.
  18. Sure looks like it, but they better keep Collaros in bubble wrap. Realistically, he is the last standing premier quarterback in the league. Also really sucks for Rourke, the Lions and the owner who has made a great start in returning the Lions to respectability. Guess he won't be auditioning in the NFL this winter.
  19. This is a correct attribution, but it is to be remembered that this was a form of atonement for LBJ: For two decades in Congress he was a reliable member of the Southern bloc, helping to stonewall civil rights legislation. As [biographer Robert] Caro recalls, Johnson spent the late 1940s railing against the “hordes of barbaric yellow dwarves” in East Asia. Buying into the stereotype that blacks were afraid of snakes (who isn’t afraid of snakes?) he’d drive to gas stations with one in his trunk and try to trick black attendants into opening it. Once, Caro writes, the stunt nearly ended with him being beaten with a tire iron.
  20. If you look at the upside for Calgary, they would shed about $250,000 in salary and probably pick up a draft choice. Its not as if the Riders pose any kind of threat to the Stamps- their problems was way beyond their quarterbacking. With Mitchell, they might beat the Elks out for the crossover, but even that is a long shot.
  21. I'm thinking they will start Mitchell but with a short leash. It would make sense for Riders to acquire him but cut Fajardo ASAP. That would be an upgrade for both teams.
  22. There have always been and probably always will be those in any group who will side with an aggressor to benefit themselves, if only in theory. There were Jews (mostly lawyers, alas) who helped the Nazis round up other Jews in Germany and elsewhere on the promise that they themselves and their families would be spared. However, as soon as their usefulness was at an end, they were put ontot he trains to Dachau. In wartime England, Edward the 8th, who abdicated to marry and American divorcee, let the Germans know that he was willing to be their puppet ruler of England should they decide to conquer it. So it is in modern-day America. This is directly connected to Blacks, Hispanics, Semites, Asians Jews and women who support Trump and all he stands for to gain privilege for themselves and doom everyone else. And BTW: one of the Koch brothers died about a year ago, so he has gone to his "reward". Hope he dressed lightly.
  23. GOP Governor Nominee: Having Baby Could Be 'Healing' For Teen Rape Victims Michigan candidate Tudor Dixon has said she would not support legal abortion for a hypothetical 14-year-old rape survivor. Michigan’s Republican gubernatorial nominee said she does not support abortion being legal even for child rape victims, suggesting that having the baby could be “healing.” In a segment aired Friday, Fox 2 news anchor Roop Raj asked Tudor Dixon, who has been vocal about her anti-abortion views, where she stands “when it comes to rape, incest and life of the mother.” Dixon said she supports exceptions if a woman’s life is in danger, though she added that the “health of the mother and life of the mother are two different things.” Raj then asked specifically about rape and incest, providing the hypothetical example of a 14-year-old girl who has been raped. “Why not allow that person to have an abortion?” he asked. Dixon replied that her stance came from talking to rape survivors who have given birth, as well as people who are the children of rape survivors. “I’ve talked to those people who were the child of a rape victim, and the bond that those two people made, and the fact that out of that tragedy there was healing through that baby — it’s something that we don’t think about,” she said. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/tudor-dixon-abortion-rape-healing_n_63012ce6e4b035629bfb84f4
