Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice Official Trailer

Other than Jessica Alba there wasn't really anything watchable in those 2 movies. -
Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice Official Trailer
wpgallday1960 replied to Logan007's topic in General Discussion
As far as movies go I didn't mind Man of Steel. But it pales in comparison to Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy which I consider the best "comic book" movies ever made. Would have been perfect if they didn't get Christian Bale to utter his Batman lines in such a bizarre tone/fashion. As far as this one goes I'll give Affleck a chance, though I'm not sold on him. More looking forward to Fantastic Four this summer. -
Washington Redskins Urged to Change Team Name
wpgallday1960 replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in General Discussion
this was a tough one for me. I've been a fan of the redskins for over 40 years and have even defended the nickname in the past (there was an article posted a 'skins fan that documented the origin of the name and how it was a show of respect for native Americans). However, over the years enough Native groups have expressed their offence to the nickname and I have rethought my position. If enough of these people are offended by it maybe the name needs to go. I'm not sure the team's defence of the name and plans to appeal this decision aren't more related to jersey and other merchandise sales as opposed to defending their traditional nickname. -
Well, aren't we enlightened, so enlightened that you willingly jump on the Groupthink bandwagon whenever it's decided, somewhere, by someone, that something is offensive. I would hope others aren't just as willing to unquestioningly abandon everything they have seen and heard and believed growing up because someone tells us it is suddenly "bad". Always question authority, especially the authority of people telling you how you should think. Your comment about how we as a society need to learn to change things instead of clinging to traditions seems to be right out of Animal Farm. I agree with TUP that I don't really care about the Confederate flag or what it means to Southerners. I am from Winnipeg, so until someone starts telling me the Bison on our flag is some kind of racist symbol it really doesn't matter to me. What I don't get is the hysterical over-reaction including banning shows like the Dukes of Hazzard from TV, because someone might see the Confederate flag on the General Lee for 4.5 seconds per show. Who cares. It's ridiculous. That's just throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Dukes was a favorite show of an entire generation. I still remember that show being the highlight of my TV week (and that just goes to show what dreck was on in that era). The Dukes taught good morals, and right from wrong. Boss Hogg was the greedy bad guy, and the Dukes always out-smarted him, and made sure justice was served, despite the corrupt and crooked cops they had to deal with. We were taught greed was bad, and good always triumphs over evil. It's not like Uncle Jesse and Roscoe sat around the kitchen table dropping N-bombs and telling racist jokes. Far from it. Here's how I sum up political correctness: Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of fecal matter by the clean end. for your information, I've long held the belief that the confederate flag is a racist symbol and over the years come to see the point of view over the Redskins name, despite my early resistance. I would hardly call that "groupthink" and you can drop the snarky attitude. I wouldn't call for a ban of "Dukes of Hazzard" as that would be going too far and it wasn't a racist show to my recollection. Banning the flag from officially flying at the state capital is more of what I mean, not banning every reference. My change comment was more directed at past practices that weren't thought of as racist at the time but in a new era where we consider peoples opinions who may have been the victim of these practices, they now may be considered inappropriate. things like the "sixties scoop" or residential schools - the confederate flag should be looked on in a new light. Quite frankly you don't have to be an ******* about it.

Well, times change. What was once a source of Southern pride is now a racist symbol. You can argue it is because of the PC crowd but, but with a view of the flag in modern context, I don't see how it can't be viewed as anything but racist. Similar to the team name of my favourite NFL team - Washington Redskins. In today's society that name won't fly, it's time to change it. As a society we hopefully advance and learn to change things that need to be changed instead of clinging to potentially harmful "traditions".

wpgallday1960 replied to TuscaloosaBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
...said MBB's first training camp cut.Yep, got cut in the first...weak.At least he went down in a blaze of glory, last night in the chat room. I never understand guys like TuscaloosaBlue or Migs. Come on to a board and post complete BS just to get people riled up. A pathetic need for attention, I guess. -
One less Braley team in the league

Argos big announcement got upstaged by the Babcock signing. Some are pissed about it. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/babcocks-hiring-steals-the-argos-thunder-anger-ensues/article24535314/ -
OK then. If they think he is that good - a first round choice it is. I'll defer to Walters/O'shea's judgement.

Taman switched from Subway to Tequila?!?!?

WTF!!! Watson basically traded for a LS?!?!?
-
I'm betting that Edmonton might take that. Edmonton only have 5 picks for this draft. If we come out of this draft with Groulx and Demski, it would be my dream come true.

[Blue Bomber Talk] Early thoughts on 2015 CFL Draft
wpgallday1960 replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You never know how many would stick. Just a few weeks a ago Boyko was thought to be a lock to be a mid to late round pick at OT. He's now ranked BELOW a 7rd_FA prospect at GUARD on cbssports.com http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2015/OG If he is signed as an FA by an NFL team he may not last long. Definitely in play this CFL draft, IMO. However, your point is well taken - certainly more interest in Canadian prospects than in past years. -
Trust me on this, you really don't want to know.Have a close look at his Twitter picture, then try not to pull a Mike, by running straight to the washroom, with pic in hand Gonna be a clean up soon.

Meh, I'd say moving from Foley and Kilgore (or whoever they had at MLB) to Emry and Hall is a big upgrade. Other than that, they've retained depth similar to what we've brought in because we didn't have it in the first place. Let's see how things keep unfolding, though. The biggest changes the riders had to make IMO were on the coaching staff and scouting dept. Those are the changes that the fans are excited about. The riders have a pretty good team already, there weren't a lot of moves that had to be made.I agree. Gonna be a dog fight in the west this year.

Bombers trade Cory Watson to Saskatchewan

I liked Cory but didn't play often enough. good luck to him. How did we acquire the 26th pick - part of the Neufeld/Hall trade? -
[Blue Bomber Talk] Early thoughts on 2015 CFL Draft
wpgallday1960 replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This would be my dream draft at this point, Groulx & Demski (or Richards if Demski is gone). -
Agreed. The CFL needs a strong Toronto franchise. Hopefully get them out of the Dome and onto to BMO field. Maybe Torontoians will now realize the city isn't NFL material after the Bills cancelled their Toronto dates, and actually embrace their CFL team.

Ti_cats and I have no idea why. I see Sask got 2 votes. Question: is Migs back on this site and why was he allowed to vote twice, LOL!
