If ZC keeps up the level of play he showed against Hamilton, the BBs will be tough to beat. I guess we have to cheer for Hamilton to beat Toronto next game in order to clinch a playoff/crossover spot.

As wbbfan noted, a good employer would consult stakeholders before major changes are made.

Regardless of whether the changes become successful or not, NOT consulting the players and coaches is comically bad.

I see your point but still don’t want a rouge for a missed FG. FG misses are rarely short. And some people call me stubborn, if you can believe it. I think of a situation where a team is trailing by 1 late in the game and has a choice of FG to win or punt for a surer 1 point. Makes for an interesting choice.

I don’t mind the removal of a rouge for a missed FG, as I don’t think you should reward failure. Shortening the field to 100 yards would theoretically make scoring easier, but shortening the end zone would do the opposite (at least as far as TDs go). Looks like they are trying to reduce FGs and increase TDs. I will wait and see if the changes make any impact on my viewing experience. it should be noted I’m an old timer with a patriotic streak, so I may be biased. I’m not in favour of making the game more American just for,the sake of doing so.

I certainly hope they get rid of the coaches cap. It was a dumb idea to begin with. However, I have a feeling the “major announcement” will be much more than that issue.

Late to the fray here, but, I’ve been watching this team for over 50 years and I can’t recall a more ugly win than that. QB play, O and D lines have been hurting the team badly all year. Whoever is running this team next year has their work cut out for them.

Whatever the method, both lines need to be upgraded. That much is obvious.

We weren’t going to win anyway, but to have 2 stupid INTs be the difference is sickening. Time to clean house after the season. Could be some lean times for a few years.

Well let’s face it, win or lose, the Bombers weren’t going to the Grey Cup anyways. Time for changes, players, coaches and management shouldn’t be spared.

The way the story reads in the FP is that Schoen made a choice to rehab after the Calgary injury. Personally I would have shut him down after an ACL tear was confirmed, but that might just be 20/20 hindsight on my part.

JMO, I personally think Schoen is done for his career. Two ACL tears in the same knee (I think) and getting near 30. I supported his signing and he was OK health wise until the Calgary game. Bringing him back for the LDC gave us the worst possible outcome.

I’m not quite as down on the BBs as much. Overcame a lot of mistakes to almost tie it. Showed some heart and resilience. Need to clean up some penalties and TOs for the Banjo Bowl.

This is true as well. If ZC plays it smart and doesn’t force deep throws then it improves BB odds markedly, IMO. Still going to be very tough today.

I’m really torn on Elgersma. Part of me wanted him to succeed in the NFL because it would validate we can develop good QBs in CIAU football. The selfish fan in me wants him to come to the BBs and wildly suceed, our own version of Russ Jackson, if you will. OK, I’ll get back into my straight jacket now.

Why is everyone assuming Schoen won’t be playing on LD. According to Hodge and the FP, he is expected to play.

I have to laugh regarding Castillo: when he makes a kick my buddy yells out “Gulf of Mexico”. When he misses a kick it’s “Gulf of America”. A lot more Mexico this year.

I guess you just focus on the -ve in my comments, completely ignoring my complementing him on adjusting his game. To clarify: ZC isn’t the player he used to be, especially on deep throws. I’ve been advocating for him to develop more of a mid to short range passing game. Last night he did that successfully and I’m pleased to see it and hope it continues. I acknowledge we don’t have the WR core to help him out. There, feel better now?

Cut the BS. I was actually happy with ZC play last night. ZC took what the defense gave him and I admire him for that. He’s had to adjust his game because he isn’t the deep thrower he used to be. I’ve been advocating for him to develop more of a short to midrange passing game and at least for this game he did so successfully.

Bombers need BradyO to be their best player in order to win. ZC is a shell of his former self but at least he isn’t forcing as many deep balls any more and takes what the defence gives him. I’ll take the win and hope Demski and Schoen can play on Labour Day.

While I never hope for an injury to any player, the BBs would be in a better position if Alexander isn’t ready to play. I will now plan my eternity in hell.

BBs QB situation is a mess. As bad as Collaros is he gives us a better chance to win than with Streveler. Here,s hoping we can get some young QB that has potential to be a legit and competent CFL starter in 2026.

I agree Goalie didn’t say they were elite, that was just my editorial on the issue. They have a lot of improvement to make in order to play their best ball. I’m not advocating for firings but the coaches need to improve their play selection and decisions in order to get the team to a contending level.

They got pummeled by a crappy Argo team so the BBs are in no way elite and not a GC contender at this point, IMO.
