Bombers @ Stamps : Week of Aug 18 Thread

On Bonfire sports last night Danny Austin said Stamps O line is not playing well. wonder if they will have another forest fire smoke air quality issue, as in June. also https://www.tsn.ca/defensive-tackle-walker-being-rewarded-for-his-patience-with-blue-bombers-1.1995944 Very good Ricky Walker interview: “Patience and perseverance have paid off for Ricky Walker. For two seasons, the American defensive tackle saw spot duty with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. But while the six-foot-two, 287-pound Walker never doubted he could be a CFL starter, he understood the need to bide his time. That approach was rewarded in training camp when Walker earned a starting spot. The opportunity came after tackle Casey Sayles, Walker's roommate and friend, signed this off-season as a free agent with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. "Patience is probably the most critical word in my journey," Walker said. "Being an athlete and competitor, you want to play right away . . . but this team is deep in many positions and that's tough but also good because you're learning from those guys and they're all good people. "So you just stay humble, talk to family, trust the process and be patient. For me, I just waited for the opportunity and it finally came and I'm excited to get out there and take advantage of it."” maybe now Mr Fox has to be patient. also, when bombers were down 22 nothing elks, elks complete a bomb, and were in red zone, the fumble that stopped that drive was caused by Kramdi. Recovered by j.j. (Actually rematches the game!) -
My spouse and I drove through Nevada, irrigating desert there too, to grow alfalfa in sand. Big circles of green in the sand, water spraying from giant sprinklers. Most of the water evaporating, or just running away …. Cause Sand does not hold water. that was about ten years ago. no problem with mouldy hay!

Researchers seem to have solved the puzzle of LK-99. Scientific detective work has unearthed evidence that the material is not a superconductor, and clarified its actual properties. The conclusion dashes hopes that LK-99 — a compound of copper, lead, phosphorus and oxygen — marked the discovery of the first superconductor that works at room temperature and ambient pressure. Instead, studies have shown that impurities in the material — in particular, copper sulfide — were responsible for the sharp drops in electrical resistivity and partial levitation over a magnet, which looked similar to properties exhibited by superconductors. “I think things are pretty decisively settled at this point,” says Inna Vishik, a condensed-matter experimentalist at the University of California, Davis. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-02585-7

yeah same here. I lived for twenty five years a few miles west of beausejour. often went on short trips in the surrounding area. not far to utter wilderness. you can find it here, but you have to be edmund hillary.

(other than the money) Manitobans should be thankful for the fact that it is lowly regarded as a tourist destination. other places, that are endlessly promoted, like Vancouver island, are crawling with people. if you cant climb a mountain, tough to find some peace and quiet. Manitoba is a gem.
