  1. Yesterday it was. Today? I'm not as sure on that.
  2. My bad...2 hours...but we have the last 48 hours as an exclusive negotiating time with any of our pending FAs prior to that. It is my understanding that accepted terms with another team means that they may leave if they can't get their former team to sign them at the terms they want. Undoubtedly some players have no interest in returning to their former clubs, but I think a few will definitely pick up the phone for their former teams and see if there has been movement. I would almost guarantee that if Walters picks up the phone in that window and says "Kenny we found some extra SMS and will match Hammy's offer" that Kenny will say send me over the contract. Conversely, I could definitely see a few guys phoning the league at 10 am on FA day and saying never mind I'm going to try out FA now.
  3. No one has signed anything, and this pre-FA window is set up so that players and teams can do exactly that. They are not signed by their new team until they advise the CFL one hour prior to FA that they accept the offer that was made. This week before FA, is about players being able to test their worth on the market and for GMs to have an idea what that worth is. Nobody has moved teams yet. All CFL teams have an exclusive 48 hour window prior to 10am on FA opener in order to secure their own FA's that have accepted or not accepted other offers. It is literally what this week is for. No one should pencil in any player to any team until the gun goes off on FA. If we were to hypothetically go back to Lawler and say we will match Hammy's offer and he decides to stay, that is EXACTLY how this week is supposed to work and why it was implemented.
  4. Yea....Ceresna told Edmonton radio that he just needed a decent offer from Edmonton, and that his family really wanted to return there.
  5. If what Friesen is peddling is true, and teams have an exclusive negotiating window the last 48 hours before FA officially begins, I could see some players getting offers from their former team that might bring them back.
  6. Had to be. CFLPA likely told not to announce until a specified date.
  7. I find it pretty hard to believe that the GMs did not know that this would at least be a possibility. It appears to me that a couple of them rolled the dice that there would be a big jump, and most would not risk it. I could be out to lunch on that but the math around this FA adds up that way.
  8. I am getting a very bad feeling that a couple GMs may have found out before others. It will be unprovable of course but we all know which two. Unbelievable really. HTF do teams go into FA without the info as to what the cap will be. Cameron Dukes Grey Cup MVP....im thinking that Bluto has been hitting the bong.
  9. Randolph is miles better than Dobson and I honestly believe Wallace is too. Therefore better. That is one possible way our line is better and I have not even included the almost certainty that we will almost definitely be going to be bringing someone in. I never said we were miles better....just better. Could be guys like McEwan are weighing multiple offers still
  10. You consider Dobson a loss, I don't. We can argue about that if you want but you won't change my mind on that. Addition by subtraction on both the DL and OL. Sorry, all i see is a bunch of scrubs walking away. Yep...I see Lawson coming back as an improvement that will radically chance JT's usage, I see Vaughters as way better than Haba/Garbutt.
  11. Walters and Osh likely have long conversations about preferred roster, and then Kyle does the best he can after within the SMS. I am sure that if say a Kenny Lawler becomes too expensive that Walters circles back to Osh and lets him know what options are on the table. We can keep Lawler but have to let X other player walk, or we let Kenny go and I try pivot this way....etc. Football is a business, and I am sure that MOS would love every player to be back plus 10 more....however, Walters is responsible for slicing the pie and he tells MOS who he can have off his wishlist. I am sure there are some lively conversations that go back and forth but at the end of the day we live in a SMS world.
  12. I think Kyle and Osh work extremely closely together on the roster, and that Miller is very much in the loop.
  13. Anyone suggesting that MOS is a poor coach overall is crazy. He is a fantastic coach with a few flaws.
  14. I'm not suggesting that Hogan was a better candidate necessarily than Bourgoin or Marty. I am saying that Hogan is not some scrub off the street that stole a job. He is a highly regarded coach and someone, obviously, the Bombers know a bunch about. I am sure that Marty and Bourgoin had their interviews as part of the process, Hogan got the job and it probably came with Buck's endorsement. Reverence from the masses is more a sign of longevity for position coaches. Yea people speak highly about Marty or Kevin as position coaches but that doesn't necessarily equate to being a good coordinator.
  15. Didn't think they would go with an internal hire at all. Never mentioned a single staffer of Buck's. Really thought it was between JJ and Lapo. I didn't consider Marty as a possible candidate whatsoever, and Bourgoin in my mind was a real long shot. Buck was Lapo's number 2 and we saw some variance from Lapo's offence.
  16. Hogan's name is very well regarded as well. Was interviewed last year for a vacant OC job. I'm surprised you weren't aware of his up and coming rep in coaching circles. When I was talking to Buck at an offseason coaching clinic it was Hogan he identified as the unsung hero and his number 2, not Bourgoin.
  17. I think at this point and time we have to do so, but I fully expect him to be back some time this season.
  18. Yet the Younger hire was pretty much exactly the same thing. Highly regarded young coach with a highly respected older mentor off in the wings. I was apprehensive last year when we demoted Hall and gave the reigns to Younger. That experience has me with much more of a wait and see attitude this year. I like that they brought in a mentor for Hogan to work along side him.
  19. DL slightly better, LBers are better, Secondary worse, receivers slightly worse, OL same if not better. Not really seeing much of a difference from last year. I was hoping for a lot more out of Walters this offseason, however, I am fully cognizant it is very early into the offseason. A few years back I thought he had a pretty average to poor offseason then he pulls Bighill out of his arse a few days before TC.
  20. I am not in favor of everything our team does. I just won't call for coaches or GMs heads on matters of minutiae. I think that Lawson coming back puts Jake into less reps no matter how you slice it and that is progression not regression. Probably right. We both dig in our heels because we are passionate about our beliefs.....at times too much so. I like to think that I act as a counterpoint to a very different and vocal opinion. I would think most sensible people would be right in the middle. It is important that both sides of an argument are represented. There are many areas of concern I have with the Bombers but none of them are Jake Thomas. He is so very little of a moving part in all of this.
  21. How so? You are entitled to your opinion of course but just what are you basing it on?
  22. Jason Hogan OC Jarious QB coach Not sure about Hogan, but he will have a crap load of experience and help with JJ.
  23. Jake and Schmek were here last year. Regression means getting worse. Tell me how we have gotten worse.
  24. There is a ton of talent available. Go to the FA listings. Better than what we had? Such as who? Lawler's 800 yards last year? Haba and Garbutt's nothing....what exactly are you concerned about replacing? We effectively swapped Lawler for Schoen....that's a win in my books. Brought in Mitchell for Wilson....saw off....Vaughters for Haba/Garbutt....win for us. What has your **** in a bunch? You are so consumed with the JT resigning that you are not looking at the whole picture imo. It's kind of crazy because the one massive loss we took this offseason in Ford is the one you seem least concerned about.
