  1. It has been a less than ideal FA period this year so far, but the nice thing is that it is only February. Lots of time to make hay, and we should have the money to do it. Like the year Bighill fell into our lap late in the offseason, I am hoping for a big impact signing like that out of nowhere. Maybe it doesn't happen, but until TC opens we don't know what our team is for sure. Yea....I'm not going to crap on what we did sign. Some quality depth pieces there. However, we do need a few pieces for sure to round things out.
  2. You keep saying you think Osh is a great coach and that you never said he should be fired, then talk out your ass like that. Which is it? Pick a lane. If you think he should be fired say so. At least it will be honest. If you think he should not be fired why make a comment like that one?
  3. He hid it about as well as one could, but it was very apparent something wasn't right.
  4. Most interesting thing I found was that Strev had a broken rib in his first start that really limited what he could do after. It seemed apparent he was injured, now we know. Fully healthy, this guy can still truck.
  5. Yep, been a while since anyone mentioned him. Is he back? Not sure I heard anything about him re-signing.
  6. Dukes will likely have better passing numbers than Strev, but Strev will win you more games. A lot more. If we had a healthy Strev to replace ZC in the cup last year, Bluto would know better than to say such an outlandish thing because he would have watched Strev run for a 100 yards and 2 TDs to get us the GC win.
  7. I don't think Dukes is in any way, shape, or form better than Streveler if I wanted to, you know, win a game.
  8. Cameron Dukes is a young Fajardo without the Jesus Sprinkles. He can't make every throw and therefore has a low ceiling. You are way over rating him.
  9. Strev is never going to be the 2nd coming of Dieter Brock. With his skill set he doesn't have to be. Will he ever be a bonafide starter in this league? Hard to say. However, he is a guy that can come in and win games if he has the right game plan given to him.
  10. Why take a 15 year view of things in the CFL? Most of those years are not even remotely applicable to now. Different GM, different coaching etc. etc. Saying that Toronto is better than us at developing QBs currently, because of Collaros or Harris is nonsense. In the last 5 years we have developed 2 backups that either spend significant time in the NFL, or are now providing quality starts to another team. I would say our track record developing QBs is pretty darn good right now.
  11. Yep. Depth at best. Not one grabbed a spot and ran with it.
  12. That certainly makes sense as well. Hope we don't have a windfall of money left on the table tho. Love to get these guys wrapped up if possible too tho. I'm not against leaving some money back for extensions, but we need to spend because every other team is going to. Kyle Walters might feel that way but Wade Miller is standing around drinking Booster Juice telling Kyle how much he cares about a home Grey Cup. Make no mistake, the stakes are high for Walters on giving us our best shot at our cup THIS year, and of course, that's going to be KWs stance just before FA. Can't let the players know they have an extra bargaining chip because he has to go for bust.
  13. Some on here feel that the right thing to do would be to pretend we didn't have a windfall of extra SMS and to honor deals and prices set before the league dropped the bomb. I say bullshit to that, teach Ted Goveia his first big lesson about meddling with our FA's and screw the nice guy act and do what is in the best interest of our club....to hell with the rest. Nice GMs finish last. Screw them over, screw them over, screw them over....GO KYLE we have a cup to raise on home soil. Anything less than pulling out every stop to put our interests first is a failure. The media, and whoever, can wax poetically about honor among thieves.....F That. If we don't make our revised best pitch to Kenny because of some ridiculous notion of lollipops and rainbows amongst the other GMs then we deserve what we get if we are not hoisting the cup. All other teams in this league are our competition, you put your foot on the throat of your competition every chance you can in business.
  14. What would have been wasteful a few days ago, is now very open to interpretation. If Walters was working off say a 500k budget for receivers on Monday, today it would not be wasteful if that budget was 550k (10% increase). That 50k was the difference between us and Hamilton. That's just math. We can no longer say that 275 k is wasteful on our best receiver when it may fit the positional budget.
  15. I like who we have brought in so far as possible Kenny replacements. It will definitely have to be by committee, no doubt about it. White, Sterns, and Mitchell give us some decent receiving options. Clercius over Woli is a hard move to make, but one that should pay dividends maybe as early as this year. Would be nice to get Wilson back sooner than later if Lawler really is gone.
  16. They can't talk to him unless he turns down both our deals, at that point you move on. Nothing dumb about it other than your understanding of how it could and probably would work. We won't bring our best offer until the exclusive window, if you can't see why. that's not on me.
  17. Yea, if it was capped sure. But we have to make sure that we don't give competing leagues a dead duck target on how to get our QBs.
  18. I can't see how. Just drive up QB costs is all.
  19. There is nothing flawed about this at all. It's business 101. You pivot as the budget allows. I was in business for many years and available cash flow has a massive effect on everything. If you have budget room to spend so as not to take an even bigger loss you do so.
  20. In the past, sure. Made their best offer another team offered more. Nothing more to be done. This year teams got an unexpected windfall of SMS halfway through the week. I'm not suggesting Kenny necessarily comes back, but I guarantee Walters is upping his pitch. He would be an idiot not to do so. I don't give a fig what Dunk is saying, no GM is going to talk to him about waiting until the exclusive window and re-entering talks with their pending FAs. Some guys will have been moved on from, other guys were losses that teams were forced to make because of the old SMS number. Kenny is one of those guys.
  21. Who is doing that talking. Certainly not the players, or the GMs. One would have to be pretty naive to think that some teams won't circle back on players they really want to keep as is their right to do so. The cap just went up unexpectedly by 10%, that changes everything.
  22. He just woke up yesterday with a sack of money under his pillow. You seem to be discounting that. You keep thinking that agreeing to terms on a dollar amount with another team is an obligation by the player during this window. It is not. For all intents and purposes it is only an obligation by the team making the offer that if you don't re-sign with your team we will honor the dollar amount we discussed.
  23. Sorry man you are dead wrong on this. Last year the SMS didn't move halfway through tampering week. If you don't think that entirely changes things then I guess math isn't your skill set.
  24. So far, but no player is obligated to any of the terms they have accepted. NONE. The only people that are obligated are the teams that made the offer and they are only obligated so that teams don't make offers and walk away simply to drive up a player's price. Mike does not seem to grasp what this tampering period is for. It is meant only to establish market value for players and give teams time to prepare for what the market bears for their pending FAs and who they may no longer be able to afford. No one is obligated to anyone and each team and GM is fully aware of that when they file the offer. There isn't a single team that isn't 100% cognizant that the player they have offer sheeted may still sign with their former team. Normally, in these scenarios the player leaving will leave but this year a little half million monkey wrench may lead to some teams still retaining FA's they thought they were losing for SMS reasons and not a single team will cry about it when it happens.
  25. You don't know that. This week was set up entirely so that teams would have 48 hours to talk to their pending FA's. No team in the CFL or player has signed anything and agreed to terms is worth nothing until each team has that 48 hours. If the Bombers make a final pitch to Kenny and he accepts it there was absolutely ZERO obligation for him to sign in Hammy, nor would there be any hard feelings at all by anyone. This is how this week was designed to work. All Kenny agreed to was that IF the Bombers don't step up I will go to Hamilton...nothing more. People keep suggesting that this agreed to terms is some kind of obligation by the players. It isn't and it was never designed to be one. Kenny could go to FA as well, and there would still be no hard feelings. It is his right to do so. It is the Bombers right to have an exclusive time to try persuade him to stay as well.
