FAAAR more impactful receiver than White. Not knocking White but Lawler not only put up gawdy numbers of his own, he also allows all the other receivers to get gawdy numbers as well due to simply his presence and impact on opposing defences playcalls and gameplans.

Certainty that he remains. You are right it's not 100%...imo it's 95%. I just don't see it happening but if it does it would be the right move so long as it is a total houseclean. Don't think either is happening with this much term left. Dobson is 100x better at OG than Wallace who quite frankly needs to go and one never knows if we move him to Centre but even if we don't he represents a massive upgrade. Broxton is likely either not signed and we use the money elsewhere to strengthen, or is signed at LT and we make the hard decision on the GOAT. If it is the latter our OL is pretty damn good. Ford is an allstar calibre NAT db. Not even going to discuss how valuable he would be. C'mon....And Lawler is a ton better than White but having Ford in the secondary would allow us to have both. You can't reasonably sit there and tell me that our high end talent drain has been addressed. Thanks for finding that. Changes my opinion quite a bit.

We can use the exemp The one time exemption does not exist anymore that I can see. It was only in existence the first 2 years of the ops cap so that it covered existing contracts that were signed prior to the ops cap coming into effect is what I've gathered from various media articles so far. I can't seem to find it in any of the league rules of CBA either. There is a provision for prorating the remaining salary over the next 5 seasons but still counting against the ops cap. That still would be a significant hit to our ops cap as MOS has a lot of term. So, I suppose we could fire him but his replacement would have to agree to HC for far below market rate. Or we could pinch pennies elsewhere on the coaching and ops side to make up for MOS's cap hit. Neither present a very good alternative and would be very questionable if it would even constitute an upgrade after all is said and done. Hogan for HC maybe? If Younger or Condell are on 2 year contracts, as is the norm for coordinators now, our next HC would be stuck with them as well.

So if a fan can spot the recipe for success in how KW needs to build his roster....why can't KW. Just saying. If MOS is not great with young guys, take them out of the equation and go back to what worked. What won championships. It's not a hard concept. Build a team to the strengths of your coach, not to his weaknesses. I'm not trying to excuse MOS for his shortcomings, they are apparent and real, but when provided a certain type of roster he has proven he can succeed. Go back to that. We both know that MOS isn't going anywhere. He's locked in. Therefore, quit trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Somewhere along the line KW decided that we were going to let talent walk and replace through recruitment. We see now that this was a colossal mistake.

Hardrick? That's 4 guys who are or have been all stars since they left here. How many all stars did we have on our roster last year? i'd say 4 more would have been a vast improvement. Think of what our line might look like right now if we have Dobson and Yoshi, what our receiver corps looks like anchored by Lawler, having Ford in our secondary. Massive losses and that's just the losses from the past couple years. KW has a history of letting guys hit the road that predates all 4 of them. We have MOS for the next 2 years for sure and nothing we complain about changes that. Therefore, we can wish for a different style of coaching but we aren't getting it. KW needs to step up his game in order to offset that. Might not be fair, but ultimately it's his job.

He's not wrong. Is there somewhere the Bombers have published who is responsible for what aspect of the decision making? Sure there is a traditional hierarchy that one could look at and say this is this man's job, and this is this man's job. If we were to follow that not a lot about what is discussed here when it comes to roster would align with any of our management/coaches job descriptions. We are being asked to take a leap of faith, based on nothing, that MOS rules the land and if someone challenges that assertion on this board they are told they have their head up MOS's ass. It's quite baffling really. If traditional hierarchy is being followed then KW should be fired ASAP. If the conspiracy theorists suggesting MOS has all the power and over rules KW, then KW should still be fired ASAP for allowing it to happen. No GM should give the HC carte blanche on the over all roster. There is this fantasy being floated around that we have all stars buried in our depth chart, and that MOS just cuts the most talented guys out of camp, but like i say...fantasy. Sure a couple guys out of the hundreds we have had over the years have stepped up and played decent off the bench. That should happen with FAR more frequency actually if we are ever going to contend again. We have a recruitment and talent evaluation problem and most of it starts with KW and our recruiting team. The last legit bird dog we had was Rigmaiden, and after only a couple years, MOS was a Grey Cup coach. Maybe he isn't holding talent back, maybe he just isn't getting enough being brought in. I don't care who you put out on the field from our current roster, whatever combination you think is optimal, they are a one and done in the playoffs. That is a lack of talent. There is not much to love about our roster the past 2-3 years. Serious erosion of talent. We have let an all star team walk away in FA. That's on KW. Before you say they left because of MOSs coaching, nearly ALL of them expressed a desire to stay and were then insulted by either receiving no offer or a low ball offer.

11 win team? You are smoking the good stuff today. I guess we will agree to disagree. Without a complete rebuild to our OL we are not in any kind of conversation as a contender. None. I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that KW, and MOS will be back for the next year or two. What frustrates me is that we seem to be standing pat on our roster. I get that MOS has shortcomings on roster usage but his guys still play hard for him, what we need is KW to start building his roster up because a coaching change isn't happening and our only hope is that we add character and skill to our dressing room. These players are not going to be transformed into a contender this year and if we go back to a similar roster it will be the same result. We need KW to be very active this offseason, and to be the boss of the roster going into next year's TC, and somehow i don't think he will be.

Let's say we have different coaching and we lose a couple of the games we narrowly won despite better coaching. The players have to wear their record along with the coaches is what I'm saying. The Edmonton game, granted, better coaching probably wins that game but this week's game is easily winnable without changing coaches if the players just don't play undisciplined. We don't hit the QB 15 seconds after he throws the ball, or whack him on the helmet for no apparent reason, we don't drop 2 explosion play passes and this game turns out quite different too and that is the point I'm trying to make. You guys are trying to reason that different coaching wins last week, I think different playing by the players wins that game as well. The players lost that game because of errors they made. It's right there on film. Extending drives for them through penalties, backing ourselves up with missed blocking. That's not on the coaches. All I'm saying is that all we hear about here is bad coaching while the players making bonehead and undisicplined plays seem to be getting a free pass. We gave the game to them...our players did that. An 84 yard TD because the DBs lost track of a guy in coverage, 2 other scoring drives where we had the stop and penalties extended their drives. Our players need to do better, and that's not excusing the coaches it's just laying blame a little more proportionally accurate than what the mob here seems to want to do.

I don't like our coaches any more than you do, just not going to pretend that a new coach gets anything out of this roster. You guys can pretend that this is an all star laden group of players being held back by coaching and I will choose to live in reality.

I agree with all your complaints but I don't believe for one second that we have anything better behind Neufeld and Bryant, that Singer/Cobb is as straight forward as you are suggesting because of passports/or that we would be starting 10 or 11 NATs. That is pure hyperbole. I am not going to sit here and defend MOS's roster choices but I will challenge you to tell me how our roster could have been better against the Argos. It was easily the best usage we've seen in years. It sure wasn't our roster usage that lost us the Argo game. I get the frustration, but our best available roster was dressed and then failed to execute. It's very difficult for anyone thinking rationally to suggest that it was all coaching. Part of it...sure...bigger part was lack of talent. Funny you bring up Neufeld....he is our top graded O Lineman. I agree that we should sit Bryant until I watch Vanterpool who is considerably worse.

The thing about Lapo is that his offence and progressions can wring a lot out of puss arm QBs. It is hard to cheat down on his offences because he is very good at making them guess even when they know you have a deficiency Not defending our coaching but not going to pretend every loss is solely on them either. Our players are not good enough but everyone seems to think a new coach would magically turn duds into studs. We definitely need new coaches but we will get similar results if we had them this roster

All of what you are saying is true but you also need QBs that can make defences pay for not respecting their arm. We dont have that QB anymore. If defences can shut you down simply by taking away the short and intermediate you are screwed as an offence. That's all TO did in the 2nd half was take away our run game and dare us to beat them over the top. We cant sustain pass pro and our QBs have noodle arms.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but those comeback routes worked well and the answer to them taking them away was also there. When Ds close on them the deep shot opens up. Our players unfortunately cannot provide the pass pro necessary, our QB is not good with attacking deep, and our receivers struggle to get behind coverage. This is a natural progression in any offence that we simply cant pull off. We are hamstrung by our personnel currently. There were some other options we may have tried so I give it 15%. However, it is increasingly apparent that Dinwiddie was correct in his assessment that DB has a limited skill set. What is also abundantly apparent is that our OL was far worse in the 2nd half in pass pro. The book is out on us that if you send pressure looks, and run blitz and keep the secondary closer to the LOS that we will not either get the chance for big plays, or dont have the QB to make it happen.

Brown was changing playcalls based on how he was reading the defence. How many of those plays were supposed to go to BO. Fact of the matter is that teams, all season long, have been stacking the box because they are not at all concerned with our passing game. That is partly on Condell but mostly on our pass pro and QB stable.

This game was a combination of poor playcalling (15%), poor discipline (35%) and overall lack of talent (50%). I am at a loss to rationalize how bad our OL is and how limited our QBs are in ability. Guys played hard, not seeing any lack of effort but woof this team needs a rebuild. Condell just isn't the answer at OC, but we also need some new players.

I thought his first 2 games were good, his last 2...we should have given BO 40 touches instead

With Brown at QB, and Kelly for that matter, this game likely hinges on which interception machine throws less damaging INTs. If Brown can learn from his earlier games and play clean we have a good shot, if he matches or exceeds Kelly's INT output we are going to have a hard time. Brown has been very sloppy this year and needs to stop it right now.

Time to move on from Zach. I dont think Brown is our best plan after, but let's see how he plays the remainder of these last few games. I really dont see us in the playoffs now so KW and Osh better start the rebuild for real
