  1. I like that they have an excuse after every game. It prevents them from having to be accountable to each other, and the fan base.
  2. I agree on that, however, the chant has taken on more of a Winnipeg rally cry identity than anything to actually do with True North now. In the early days it was to thank the Jets owners for bringing them back, now the True North chant is to signify the strength of the fan base. It's to let the world know that Jets/Bomber games are hostile territory for the visitors. If Bomber fans want to do it in that context I have absolutely no issue with that.
  3. Sloppy article by Hodge. He needs to narrow down the man games lost by team to guys in the starting rotation for this to have any impact. Take a team like the Riders, for instance, who have a whopping 73 man games lost to marginal roster ham n' eggers STers and backups. It skews the impact of the article when that context is lost. Also, a team like BC losing Rourke...how can that be equated to a simple man game...he was their team. That being said in simple terms of man games lost their is not a lot of difference between a lot of the teams in the league with a couple of exceptions. The difference between 175 and 122 is quite literally a couple of STers that Saskatchewan lost compared to us.....but they are snake bitten woe is me the football gods are shitting on us, and we have been completely healthy according to them. The excuse train out of the big trapezoid never ceases to amaze me, show them facts and they will say the league conspired to fix the numbers.
  4. It's a rally cry just before the game. Not sure why you have a problem with that. If you don't want to support the Jets don't, but many people feel they get full value for the tickets they buy and understand that our team spends just as much as any other team to try and provide us with an entertaining product. Hate it when people go off on the owners of a team like the Jets that is more a passion project of the ownership group than a profit centre.
  5. I know of a gentleman's agreement in regards to draft picks returning to school, but I have never heard of one concerning PR players being plucked. Every year there are a couple players that are plucked by a team off another's PR.
  6. Yes they do. For sure. I am sure any GM consistently asks players if they will accept long term contracts even if they may/may not be in the long term plans. Why wouldn't you....nothing to lose. I would LOVE the Esks to get on a roll and end up bumping the RIders out of the cross over. That would be just too good.
  7. Yes, there is that as well. It's not as simple as if we claim Darby they will claim our most valuable PR player. You gotta immediately put him on the active roster AND get him agree to go. Most of the guys on our PR are projects and are not ready to play CFL ball, will be FAs this offseason anyway, some will be released as we take guys of the AR to make room for guys coming off the IR, and are unlikely to play for us this year, so I don't really fear that aspect of claiming Darby at all. If he was available, which he is not because he is on the IR now.
  8. As a generally rule claiming a player off another team's PR isn't done because there usually is not anyone of value that can immediately step into another team's lineup. In this case, there was and I am not in the least bit concerned about another team swiping one of our PR guys. If they do, they do and they have to activate them to the active roster. Revenge claiming players is not exactly that great of a proposition to those doing it.
  9. Bailey is one of the hardest workers on our team. However, I too, would love to see more production from him and think this last game may have been the catalyst for that going forward. For whatever reason he wasn't getting the targets, but after a big game like that he should have his number called with more regularity.
  10. Could be. Of course we could just claim him off the PR right now if we wanted.
  11. One moron even going so far as suggesting that the legitimacy of the wins/losses should be in doubt because there is probable corruption.
  12. I was talking about Taylor. We should just try pluck Darby off their PR. Screw it. We can activate him immediately, not sure Hamilton is willing to do so. MJ would be great, but I can't see Hammy throwing in the towel on their season at this point. Maybe once they are mathematically eliminated.
  13. Jones could make stupid offers this year because he knew full well this whole season was auditions of young guys for next year. He won't have that luxury next year, Elk fans will demand progress.
  14. The Saskatchewan excuse train keeps on rolling and I love it. Nothing spells doom for a football team faster than having no accountability for a poor performance week after week. Best part of it is that their QB is the conductor of the train. That will ensure it will keep on chugging along.
  15. My goodness, with Rourke down there really is no reason to lose a game again this year. Chris Jones is doing the best he can with a bad lot he inherited. I would think this offseason he will look to make an imprint on the roster.
  16. Sadly, he is probably aged out now with an achilles injury.
  17. To me the most important thing about that 55 yard game winner was that he was able to overcome the yips he had in Montreal. Very important that a kicker can shake off a bad night. Last year he got mired in his early struggles and couldn't get out of his own head after. This year he is showing the mental fortitude necessary for being a pro kicker.
  18. No doubt. People being salty balls because we are not blowing everybody out need to take a look at our man games lost this season. 11-1 with the injuries we've had is an amazing achievement no matter how close some of the games were. Many other teams with a fraction of the man games to the talent we've absorbed would be riding extensive losing streaks right now. Our depth is top notch.
  19. Yes, the PM of Britain has stated he will be King Charles III.
  20. She was an excellent monarch, that was extremely adept at moving with the times and with grace and dignity. Her political influence helped lead to the end of apartheid in South Africa. Her influence on feminism cannot be overstated. These just two of many reasons to mourn her loss. RIP. God save the Queen.
