CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
GCn20 replied to JCon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
What's so baffling about it. Getting the guy a couple game checks because he probably worked his arse off. You and I both know that roster management is a tool, one of the best tools, to help develop culture. Guys who are FIFO, and work hard, occasionally get rewarded by seeing the field or the roster when guys on the outside like us don't understand it because we are not viewing it through the wide angle lens that MOS has to do. If you ask guys to commit, and work their arse off, and don't at least occasionally offer reward for it then you get a culture like the BC Lions where guys start dogging it. THIS is what Kongbo was talking about. He was, or felt he was, working the hardest and was not given the opportunity for more reps even. On a MOS team you work your tail off and even if you are not number one on the depth chart he will try work you in for your effort. For the fans it's black and white, player X is better than player Y, but we don't get to see that player X might have been half assing it while player Y went above and beyond. These are factors in a coaches roster management decision and when you value effort and reward it the culture becomes a good one by default. It permeates through the dressing room. -
The only shame belongs at the feet of Justin Trudeau for his corruption, and Wab Kinew for beating a woman. Do that....and everything said about you is fair game.

CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

You doubt MOS, who regularly educates the refs on the rules, will learn the rule? MOS not only learned the rule, he has probably put in countless hours of thought into it. MOS not knowing the rules is about the last thing I would have expected anyone to say, if there is one thing besides winning that MOS has demonstrated it is that he has encyclopaedic understanding of the rule book. I am pretty shocked at everyone turning on MOS for not doing something, that he literally has had no opportunity to do yet. If you guys think that MOS hasn't looked at this rule, studied it, looked at every conceivable way it can be implemented to our advantage, and then won't do it and will play Maruo instead that's just crazy. The guy wants to win, and this is an opportunity to have another very good player on the field you normally couldn't have. He will use it. Geez Louise. -
Great than I have more reason than ever to hate the Liberals because they screwed my people more than any other political party out there,

Well that's up to them right. I mean if they do it wrong, they are only hurting themselves. The province doesn't refund you for liquor that was stolen in your property. You pay your tab to the MLCC or BDL based on what you order, not based on what you sell unless something stale dates, or you have breakage off the truck. As for people thinking they would get held up more.....nope, not in my experience anyway. I had vendors that were held up before and they weren't running away with or targeting beer/coolers. It was cigarettes and whatever cash was in the till. If you already sell cigarettes they are far more likely to get you robbed than liquor. You keep your liquor behind the counter on display and your odds of theft do not increase that much. Manitoba liquor stores ran into problems with theft because they were overcrowding their stores during peak times with not much to speak of in the way of security and making customer access to grab and run way too easy.
-
The only time liquor theft is a problem is when it is accessible to the public on the shelf. I have had beer/cooler vendors for decades in this province. I have owned beer store versions of beer vendors and the kind where the clerk goes into the cooler and gets you what you want. Wanna guess which one had pretty much zero theft? It is nonsense to suggest that liquor sales automatically equate to liquor theft. It's simply not true, it just has to be done right. The beer store vendors do dramatically higher sales, and see a lot more impulse buy of secondary product and that leads to higher profits overall but the old style beer vendors offer cost certainty to those who would sell liquor in high crime areas.

It is just bad timing is what I chalk it up to. The federal strike kind of threw a wrench into his VISA application just after he would have filed it and it's just one of those unforeseeable circumstances that happen in life. -

Bombers knew he had charges pending. Bombers knew it might affect his work VISA. What they couldn't do is apply for a work visa sooner than what they did or make Canada Border Services go any faster processing it before he signed a contract with them. That could not happen until the 3rd week of February at the earliest. He plead out his case in the first week in April. We are talking at most a week that could have been saved. Also, let's not forget the backlog created by the Federal employee strike that most definitely delayed his VISA application. -

They know better but have collectively chosen to ignore it...AS A TEAM. Solidarity in that locker room. Tight knit. No outsider is going to tell them about the culture they have cultivated. -

Don't you ever get tired of being a closet Lions fan? It's PRIDE month, as good a time as any to come out of the closet. You might find that it liberates you and it sure as hell would explain most of your contrarian logic to the rest of us. Yea. He might have been able to take care of the DUI charge...who knows? However, he could not apply for a new work visa until he had a new contract. That COULD NOT happen much earlier than it did, nor can anyone control how fast his VISA app would be processed, The argument that this could have all been sorted out earlier is complete fiction as first comes the new contract, then comes the VISA app, then comes the processing time, then comes the decision to grant the VISA. All in that order. Realistically, the DUI charge being settled earlier would not have helped at all. -

Probably not a coincidence at all. But why that matters is beyond me. At the end of the day the immigration hiccup just happened last week. Whether he was convicted in November or April is of little consequence to that. -

The DUI was the story when it happened two years ago and was extensively written about then. Lawler did not receive a free pass from anyone on that. Now he is unable to play because of an IMMIGRATION ISSUE stemming from his conviction. It's that simple really. It's only you that wants to speak about the DUI again. To the rest of us, it's old news. -

My brother was caught with impaired a few years back and his suspension was immediate. My sister in law is a crown attorney and they are so far behind they have begun dismissing cases outright to clear the backload because if they don't people will walk due to the failure to provide justice in a timely manner. A lot of people on summary charges are getting free walks right now if they take the time to plead not guilty. Crowns and courts don't have the time to deal with it. If you get a traffic ticket right now plead not guilty, good chance they will drop the charges. -
Please report it. Also, report all the exact same ads targeting the PCs put out by all the unions. They, too, are absolutely garbage and should be illegal as well.

They may have a great locker room there but a collective laziness that no one in that locker room seems to think is a problem. When a new guy comes in and challenges that it disturbs them. That about sums it up imo. -

Just using Sankey as an example. Anyone who has read my posts about Sankey knows that I feel he is a one trick pony. However, if Biggie went down in game 16 he is an option available that wouldn't totally hoop us. Certainly not suggesting he could replace Biggie though..no one could. -
1. Stephen Harper never once demanded it be called the Harper government. That is just a bold faced lie. 2. No one has forgotten anything, it just isn't relevant anymore. Harper is no longer PM and his party was defeated for it's scandals and rightfully so. Just as a Liberal scandal laden government under Trudeau deserves the same fate. No one is saying the government led by Harper were choir boys who were misunderstood. That's just playing a game of silly bugger and deflecting from the massive problem Canada has right now. We could play ring around the rosie with past governments both PC and Liberal all the way back to confederation but it doesn't mean jack all in the present. 3. The article you linked contains scandals that are by comparison absolutely weak sauce to the major scandals surrounding this current Liberal government. Scandals like that are the ones Trudeau wishes he had got caught with. Bottom line, bringing up past incarnations of any party is weak sauce rebuttal to criticisms of a current government. It doesn't make Trudeau less corrupt.

Yep. Our guys call each other out all the time if one of them starts dogging it, and that kick in the ass is always enough because our guys are FIFO. Kongbo tried to bring some accountability to the Lions and got turfed for doing it. LMAO. I feel bad for Kongbo...sort of...it was his choice to sign there,. -
He does like the rest of the coaches and just checks out mentally after the first two games.
-
Harris only starts throwing 5 yard passes after he is hit, and it's usually to the opposition. lol. The biggest thing is that he doesn't have a Eugene Lewis to save his bacon this year, People underestimate just how valuable a Lewis or Lawler can be. They catch everything thrown their way even balls that should be easy interceptions and that changes a ton of games for their QBs. Even Shaq Evans (before his body broke down) catching all of Fajardo's second down punts in 2019 could change the stat sheet significantly. When the stat line reads +80 yards on 2 badly thrown balls instead of 2 INTs....that can be a ball game right there. Who does Harris have this year...Weineke? Good luck with that.

Apparently Keon Hatcher managed to find time in his schedule today to go to practice and found out about Kongbo's burn on them. I'm not a twitter guy but he zinged Kongbo right back. https://twitter.com/king_kongbo/status/1665770554362585089?s=61&t=baW2TXp0bnUmTIpSkeJyzA Apparently it has been removed. -
I think they have a good OL that benefits from a heavy dink and dunk bias in their offence. Jake Maier is the king of the 5 yard pass.
-
Mistyped it... sorry folks. You win the internet today....lol LOL....alright. I liked your predictions overall so I regret splitting hairs. I'm confused is the RIders win total this season 0 or 00? I know we can only have one now.

Anyone wondering about Bighill's conditioning has obviously never seen this man work out. His cardio regimen would leave most triathletes gasping for air. Nothing like locker rooms and sweaty socks and shoes to turn an ingrown into a bad infection. Sounds silly but yea....if he had to have some of his toenail removed you gotta wait a bit to make sure it doesn't get an infection.
