Yea....give him some work rotationally to earn his spot. He is a SY guy and very good at it. If he can spell off our DL starters for a few snaps a game it would be good rostering as he can be an emergency OL as well.

I have no doubt that Wilson can cover, Sankey is very one dimensional though and Alexander will have to cover his weaknesses down the middle. -

True....but they weren't completely incompetent either. I'm not a Sankey fan but Biggie at WIL and Sankey at MIKE would be pretty scary. Alexander would have to find his game pretty quick though. -
I like our OL a heck of a lot more than their OL. They haven't faced both the Jeffs yet. Evans will be creamed...book it.

Only one you need to capture is the queen. Rest of the bees will go with her. He is playing very well, and his DC is providing him with the looks to suit his style.

His very named brother who was quoted in the paper today actually. Also CBC's "geneological" research is not research at all, it is completely and 100% without merit. Also, you say that his Metis group is unrecognized....well so is the MMF currently as they withdrew from the Metis National council. Are there red flags to his status, yes there are...just as there is for the thousands of Metis who lost their memberships following the Powell decision. Just because someone's heritage, particularly native heritage, was not something of daily life when he was raised is not even a factor in this. Just incredibly insensitive thing for media, or anyone, to use as proof of heritage. You don't act like a Metis, and weren't raised like a Metis, so you are not a Metis? After 200 years of trying to beat the indigenous out of all of us, white people need to be better than that. Just a grossly insensitive line of reasoning. Nothing worse than when white people come and question our heritage, when what they know about it could fit on the head of a pin.
-
They also did a check with his other brother who confirmed it. I am not here defending Klein the politician. I don't know enough about him for that. However, there are hundreds of displaced MMF and other Metis group members that were displaced after the Powell decision narrowed the scope of their membership lists. Many are working hard to get their identities back despite inaccurate historical documents making it difficult. Klein could very well be among those people. I do not like hatchet jobs like this by people who know nothing about how rigged the system is against Indigenous and Metis status. This was nothing more than a trumped up media report basing itself on census status that did not recognize or even have the option for Metis or half breed status to claimed. A complete sham and a shameful piece of journalism.

Chris Jones is not the sole reason there is an OPs cap. The Riders stupidity in giving him a blank cheque, and to spend willy nilly at his whim for guys like Murphy is why we have an ops cap. You can't blame Jones for that. The Riders should have known better. Of course a GM/HC is going to spend the resources you give him and if you want to pay him an outrageous salary to do it...he'll take it. I believe that last year Jones also mentioned that he had to run short on coaching staff for last year and this year due to the football ops cap. That hurts the product. As much as I don't like Jones or Edmonton, it hurts the CFL to have a team unable to properly prepare their players. -
Awesome, my buddy and I used to have a small hobby apiary (about 100 hives) until I developed a bee allergy and had to sell him my share. I sure enjoyed the work though. Those 3rd pulls could be backbreaking. My favorite part was extracting. Loading those frames and watching the liquid gold fill barrels was a highlight....along with the beer and laughs while we did it. He ramped up pretty significantly and now makes a nice living off of it.
-
Nope...double digit sacks for sure are a great indicator of his ability. However, the book is out on him now. He made a lot of hay in 3 games because of a pretty excellent, and far different different than last year, usage of their DL. Caught teams off guard. They were confusing OLs with various looks, switches, stunts, pressure packages etc. The tape is out there now and their DL has come back to earth accordingly. A good week of film work and prep by our OL and we should see different results from last time. That's not to suggest that the Bombers will have it easy...they won't...BC is a very good defence. However, we are a very good offence when we want to be. Should be a hell of a game if everyone comes in sharp and ready to play. True, BC did throw a ton of different looks at us that we can now prepare for. However, last game we didn't match their physicality either. Something I am sure we will do this time.
-
Our guys came into the game thinking and prepared for typical non-physical pansy BC Lions football and got smacked in the mouth for it. Does anyone think we are making that mistake again? Expect us to dominate both sides of the LOS this week. BC is about to discover how nasty we can be. Bet on that.
-
Yep..very good defence. Mediocre offence. Beatable.
-
Yea, we got completely manhandled that game. Kinda like the BC game earlier this year save all the outrage afterwards.

We have a thread for responses like that in the general discussion. Keep politics over there. This is football talk. I believe it was implemented under Ambrosie. Not a bad idea...just needs some changes so that franchises are able to change staff when necessary. -

Just off the books entirely. Let them, and the new coach, hire the staff they want within the yearly ops cap but outgoing not count. An incoming coach shouldn't have to shorten his bench or hire the old coordinators just because of the cap. It cheapens our product. Look at Edmonton. It is a direct result of awful coaching partly due to Jones not being able to choose his guys and have a full coaching staff. -

Yea...I support the football ops cap so that you don't have Saskatchewan spending 4 million a year more than the other teams per year, but I really think that teams should be able to turn over coaching and management whenever necessary without the new guys having to be hamstrung by it. I find it hilarious that the Riders are the biggest victims of the rule they forced to be created. HILARIOUS. Can't get rid of Dickie even though he is god awful, and it was their own freewheel spending that bit them in the ass. All boils down to them poaching Jones and Murphy and paying them both gobs of money. lmao. -

I would suggest it's a bit of both. They gotta pay him anyway, and Jones is still feeling the football ops pinch and can't really afford to let staff go. -
I know you dislike him but Lapo, or anyone else from outside the big rectangle, going there instantly raises the province's collective IQ by 6 points.

It really can't hurt. McAdoo's play calling has been abysmal. -

Yea...for sure...getting that yard off the ball works for the DEs for sure. Interior guys not so much, they have to refine their technique a little more as bull rushing isn't as easy. Lots of distractions with the pre-snap for DEs though. Decisions on the fly based on motion. -

Yea, for the interior guys that's a little strange to get used to, but for the DEs it should be easily overcome. Pre-snap motion is something to get used to as well. -
I was giving them a bit of a free pass on Godber and Lanier, only because Godber's not ancient and still might be useful to them. However, Lanier is certainly not earning his cheque right now.

The DL, in general, does not require the same kind of learning curve that some other positions do. It translates pretty well between American and Canadian football. -
That's too bad. I really hope they embrace the opportunity to do it right.
-
I clearly did. I just do not support the research provided. If Klein is not of Metis heritage, then it sure is a slimy move to claim he is. I am not willing, based on what I know about aboriginal/Metis research into geneology, to jump to that conclusion based primarily on Canada census reports. You need to understand that in neither of the censuses provided in your article was Metis/half breed even an option. The only censuses prior to 1981 that a Metis citizen could identify as one is the 1870, 1901, and 1941 censuses. In all other censuses you were identified either by your mother tongue or as Indian and the descrimination and possible repercussions that came with that designation in Canada's cruel colonial system. The journalism was lazy in that article. If you are going to paint someone as a liar...GET IT RIGHT. The census "proof" is garbage, and David Chartrand's comments are for sure completely out of context to the MMF's position on how Metis citizenship should be applied. It's unfortunate the writer didn't fact check his article before his hatchet job.
