  1. I would think that the majority of level headed Rider fans would see this as a good thing for the team, and the league. It's just the absolute wingnuts like Migs (Section139) who see this as a league conspiracy that explains away their losses this season. Losing 2/3 of our LBer crew and 2 safeties does not help the run stop at all either. We've been moving Biggie out of the run stop to help in coverage and dropping him deeper down the middle than he should be to help cover the middle of the field against the pass. Having BA back will be huge, as will getting Kyrie,. When Biggie can focus more on the run on 1st down because our lineup is TCB behind him a lot of run plays are going to dry up for the opposition.
  2. Almost certainly that is what happened. They did the same to the Bombers with Dyson. The CFL could suspend him indefinitely but then the CFLPA has the obligation to defend and it almost certainly would not survive arbitration. Therefore, you let the team know that this guy will be chased out of the league one way or another, and it is in your team's best interest to release him and then you just refuse to ever validate another contract for him. He has no legal protection from that.
  3. All of it is because of how badly we dominated them physically in the past couple years but instead of bringing in players who could match our physicality between the whistles they thought bringing in bad boys would do it. They seriously miscalculated. A dirty player doesn't make you more physically dominant....it just makes you a dirty team that loses a significant amount of yardage, momentum, and points due to penalty flags. All the stupidity and locker room cancer they took on and we still physically dominate them. That's going to be a tough thing to overcome for them. Now they have 2 problems to solve before they can compete at our level.
  4. Good expansion on what I stated. I totally agree.
  5. It means they don't want to risk him getting injured on teams.
  6. Only way I could make the comparison was to put the best out there in comparison. Still banging that drum. Give it up. No one agrees with you.
  7. Pretty much. Talent alone is not enough.
  8. Agreed. Every nose gets a double team for a lot of the game. It's what you are able to do with that double team that seperates the Stoves from the Marinos.
  9. It would make them worse if the dude actually played football instead of gooning it up.
  10. It is the very definition of a cheap, and illegal hit. Anyone arguing against that is insane. Man that guy has so much crow to eat he had to rent freezer space at the Denny's down the street. Even a RIder fan can sometimes see the obvious....jk....can't give you too easy of a time here or people will think we've gone soft.
  11. You should come. Just plan it beforehand for accommodations as not every hotel in Winnipeg is walking distance to the stadium or tailgate events like in Regina. O'Shea is quickly becoming a candidate for a statue outside the stadium, but I would never sign any coach to a 10 year contract. At some point and time every coach has a shelf life.
  12. No kidding. Rhymes and Evans must be smoking crack if they think a 50/50 altercation doesn't heavily favor the offence in their ability to go get the ball. The only time you see a push off getting called these days is when it is so blatantly obvious that the ref has no choice but to call it.
  13. About everything. Anything complimentary about the Bombers, or anything controversial, he takes the anti-Bomber tact. EVERY TIME. No one could possibly be that jaded or consistently see things so differently than everyone else for so many years. He's faithful to his shtick, and I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that is exactly what it is. I believe he is a Bomber fan who just gets his rocks off arguing against the masses.
  14. TB is maintaining that this was a football play and legal. He was on about the OPI too earlier. He seems to take the pulse of the forum on any issue and just create cockamamie arguments against the flow of traffic. Must get his kicks from it or something.
  15. Last year it wasn't until the final couple games he made any impact. Obviously, the Riders felt he would break out this year after losing some weight. However, it should have been abundantly obvious by game 9 or whatever the vet cut down day is that this wasn't going to happen. They should have shed his contract and saved some cap. They definitely have their own locker room requirements for that don't they.
  16. I felt Duke was highly over rated last year by the RIder faithful, and this year he is hell bent on proving me right. How is this guy worth 275k? Blows my mind. How did the Riders keep his contract beyond the veteran cut off day. Should have cut their losses when they had the chance. Even without the discipline issues, and probably the poor leadership in the dressing room, what part of his play this year earns him the remainder of his contract? Just makes no sense. The guy is the 2nd highest paid non-QB in the league, is barely in the top 20 in receiving, has attitude and discipline issues, and isn't even the top producer on his own team? 275k? Wow...
  17. The irony of that is just too rich. You can't make up stuff better than that to assassinate his character as a football player. How can a team be so oblivious that so many of their locker room leaders are the problem. Any team led by the likes of Duke, or Marshall, is going to have discipline problems. It just stands to reason.
  18. I agree....but at least he was able to get them to play good football. Good enough to win more than they lost anyway. Now they are just in a complete meltdown.
  19. I am sure at some point he had it, but that day has come and gone. He lost the room when he started talking after the Marino incident. That was the train wreck that made his players question his ability to lead them. They actually had a decent start to the season and then Marino happened, then Duke happened etc and it is no coincidence that suddenly the losses started piling up. It snowballed on him and he has no response to it. Fact of the matter is if he had cut Marino immediately, benched Duke after the helmet swinging, he may have stood a chance of getting it back. Now...too late.
  20. ??... Not even going to try to guess what kind of convoluted logic that is. A player does not have to actively engaged in a block to be blindsided or receive a crack back block....in fact most of the time they aren't. Neither of those are exclusive to blockers, not sure where you got that idea from? Any player on the field, engaged in the play or not, is protected by that rule. You are really grasping at straws now. Do you ever get tired of trying to be the contrarian....asking for a friend. It's one thing to play devil's advocate, but man you pick the dumbest arguments to do so.
  21. I don't understand at all why he would ever admit to that publically. Just makes him look stupid. It's one thing to do it in the heat of the moment, but certainly after the way the game played out he must have realized it was a really stupid move. But hey, let's tell the world how dumb I am. Clearly this is a coach who very tangibly feels the fact that he is losing the room.
  22. Collaros, is not protected by RTP on a lateral or hand off. QB are tackled all the time after handing off on a great option fake. However, he is protected under the UR rules. In this case, there is zero doubt that Marino's hit was UR. If Collaros had squared off to him in an attempted block or something different story. The main thing about this hit was that Collaros had ended his commitment to the play, was in a vulnerable position and was blindsided.
  23. Realistically, Sunday was their Grey Cup. They knew it and came out with their best effort of the year....and lost.
  24. I agree. I also think people forget that the Bombers are the league's measuring stick right now. We are back2back champs and every team in the CFL gets up for games against us knowing that they have to do so, and that we are the ultimate measuring stick of whether they are contenders or not. We get everybody's best game....and we still win.
