I think they see Taylor as a kr guy..and if we have the ability to dress him as one our designated imports he could be a nice change of pace on offence too..or in 2 back sets with BO
With the end we drafted...and what i expect to see more a role with Smith and Shay and less a need for an extra import LB and rotational end...especialy with Bailey too can see it being very feasable to have a guy like that as a returner/rb option.
That and or another stud legit inside DT type guy.
We have Woodbey..JSK..Ayers..Wilson..T.Jone..Griffin..and a couple real intruiging import rookies coming into camp..we have a glut of will and Mac guys..as well as Kramdi.. Smith and Shay...so a real logjam of guys at Will Mack and Sam and in all honesty Woodbey..Griffin..Smith..and Ayers could all handle the sam role just fine too and bump Kramdi to safety...interesting how we deal with them and who gets bumped off roster...or how we gonna configure the roster...based on the sets we ran last yr and our favoring depth guys for teams I could see all being on roster especially with 3 of the mentioned being Canadian.
And the fact that Griffin..Woodbey..Ayers..JSK..Smith and Kramdi can play multiple spots at a starter level...makes it even more likely.

The dream has ended.
(unless Noel was removed from the neg list because he is going to be signed by the club)

So post-draft, our remaining needs break down as follows;
Wr. We have 23 dbs and 16 wrs. For sure, need a couple more imp WRs for camp.
DE. 18 ol vs 13 DL. Specifically, 2-ish Nts and another pass rusher or two.
A backup LS and another KR or two are really needed for camp and insurance for Vaval.
If we are going into the TE market, we need to work someone like Schmekel into that backup some, and bring in at least 1 more guy for camp reps.
Otherwise, the depth is in a really good spot going into camp.

More details on the picks from Tait and Walters
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Walters: Blue Bombers CFL Canadian Draft takeaways - Winn...
All across the Canadian Football League today GMs, head coaches and personnel types are still riding the post CFL Canadian Draft high. There are high-fives and fist bumps galore and the usual euphoriaOn Daniels they want him to cut weight and play that spot that Tui did in the heavy sets. Be a blocker and more of threat to catch a pass.
-
The nature of pro sports is what was old gets revived again sooner or later. Daniels, if he pans out, could give the Bombers the old-fashioned tight end who could block on running plays and smoke d-backs on short/screen plays and be a threat as a receiver. A receiver of that size in full flight would cause many clenched sphincters among 170lb defenders.
-
Let's not be hasty. Before we cut Goalie we need to make sure his replacement is in the MBB new member pipeline.
Don't want to pull a Mike Kelly and replace Goalie with Stefan Lefors!

Time to part ways with under performing fans.

I'm sorry but we're going to have to let you go.

Not saying coaches have zero say.... But by watching that clip, it was very much Kyle's show. He's running ****. It was definitely very interesting to see him THAT animated about a guy... It changed my tune a bit re: Dante, to "let's at least give this a shot and see"...
But anyone who thinks the Bombers had a bad draft and want to blame that on Osh because of biases, I'm convinced that's just totally wrong. Walters was very much in charge last night.
-
What all of us, the pundits included, did not accurately assess is the how the rule changes may affect the draft somewhat. Red zone offenses now will become very NFL like with the small end zone. That means we need an arse kicking blocker who can help our run in the red but must be also viewed as a receiving threat. A TE type. The Daniel's pick makes sense if viewed in that light. Was he a reach or was he a guy we had to make sure we had?
No but it does show that Kyle was driving the bus on that pick.
-
Tui saw some passes out of that as well. Shorter endzones means bigger bodies will be needed.
THIS! LBs have been getting smaller and more agile to help in pass coverage. If they can utilize a big blocker in the passing game as well, it will be a huge benefit. The only question is will they? 11 formation with Brady and a legit rec threat at TE has bully ball written all over it.
-
Other than the Daniels trade/pick, Bombers got generally +ve reviews for most of their picks. We’ll see if Cline comes here soon but I’m hopeful. If Daniels is the “**** kicking blocker” Walters claims then maybe I’ll view the pick more +vely than I do now.
-
Have to think they to plan to use this guy on running downs rather than bringing in the 6th ol like we did with Eli last year. I’m all for it if he can actually chip in with the odd catch.
-
I'm not saying it was a good idea but none of us have any idea who would have been available in later rounds.
This draft proved again that none of the CFL, TSN, or 3downnation guys have any clue where anyone will be drafted beyond the first few guys.
-
Bombers traded their 2nd next year to move up. They must like him but we also generally get the extra pick at round 2 because of Canadians starting so essentially we traded 13 for 10. We will likely still have a 2nd in 2027. Also from the video, if people think O’Shea is making these picks, you are dead wrong. Scouts and Kyle 100 percent. Osh is there just to be there. Doesn’t say much at all. It’s Kyle and the scouts draft.
-
either didn’t value the guys available, which with the rare combination of size and established high level teams play/blocking that was available seems odd, or just valued the guys we have highly. Good for clercius bad for corcoran.
Not a big deal really. pretty good draft. filled our biggest need with the best player in the draft at that position, de. Got a top tier ol futures. plus some intriguing fit potential.
considering ott took the next big hback available, either they thought he’d be gone, or just wanted to secure the guy. Don’t hate it, this is the draft to do that in.
We will know by how heavy he comes into camp.
It could go either way really. Maybe when he’s 100% they really like how he runs and thinks he can play a bunch of positions and roles for us. Maybe they want to go te sets instead of having a guy like clercius block half his snaps.
But if you’re in it for the blocker, he wouldn’t need to add much weight and canadian tackle prospects are not common.
I’m all for the cfl evolving to use 11 formation. If you like this kids hands, and blocking, it’s easy to see the value in him even if he starts out as a package and heavy set guy.
I hope to see some 5’10 210 lbs sam trying to block and cover this 6’6 275lbs kid.

Heck yeah. Love the attitude. Let's get more shitkickers in the clubhouse. Hope this pays off.

So what's the deal with Britton?
Edit - Here's the 3DN report on him, ranked 16th of all RECs:
. Benjamin Britton, University of Calgary (Calgary, Alta.)
"A complete wild card, Britton was a Canada West all-star for the Dinos in 2024 after posting 42 receptions for 661 yards, but stepped away from the team last season. He has since indicated that he would like to return to the sport, though scouts differ on how seriously they take those claims. In a draft that is light on size at the receiver position, a six-foot-three, 220-pound target with his level of production can’t be counted out entirely, and a team could gamble on a comeback at the end of the draft"

love the ethan stuart pick! sam, s, cover wil, half, he can do soo much in cover and has the tools to actually be a full time cover guy plus the size to play the box and excel on soo many units. beaut of a get

early for a futures pick in cline, but with his lack of speed i don’t think he’s gonna stick as long in the nfl. canadian starting at rt in the ncaa is a big deal. His floor as a guard is very high if he doesn’t end up visible at t.
Looking for a wr next pick or two i hope

Because the price to move up to #1 would have been way higher than the price to move up in the second round......??
