I think Lawler is going to have a monster year if he and Zach stay healthy....

Schoens NFL window waved bye bye last yr...he's a lifer here now
I agree...they aren't going anywhere...plus neither wanna go anywhere...it will work out fine.
We will have some money that's free'd up next year too

No you launched into your tired old tirade when evidence points to this situation not being the same. I agree there's too much loyalty to some aging vets... but I don't think it's a problem on offense really (other than my personal belief that Eli should be a starter somewhere). I know you loved BOLO,  but nit like demski or wolitarksy are a problem. He just got caught in a deep spot.
You have gone off the deep end on this issue I am sorry to say. Even I'm tired of it and I agree there are some issues, but you're building thus up to be too much.

    My two cents...
First year guys that show very well get PR/active roster rotation and grow and learn the CFL nuances and build chemistry etc.
Second year guys that put in the time, looked really good over year one, got their feet wet and maybe had some active game day rotation and proved they have some chemistry, and picked up some nuances can push for active roster and playing time or if needs are made available starting spots
Of course, there are some exceptions to this, but using this framework, who do people on here think are holdovers from last year that will push for starting or more active roles, and who do we think will be the "first year" guys we look to groom for 2025?
Rarely does this team start raw rookies, so realistically even though as Booch has pointed out some do have better physical attributes and upside, let's look realistically within the framework of what we tend to do and look at year two or three  guys to be excited to see get more play time and let's look at some of the guys Booch and others are really high on as options to make PR/active and be groomed.

I for one am excited to see Fox and Habba. I think Cole could make a very good LB, and I am very excited to see if/who we may keep to back-up potential work in and groom at MLB. (Biggie is amazing...but father time never ever losses) I also question if Rosary could make JA expendable...that is my out of left field projection this TC (Rosary takes JA's roster spot)

Oh for Christ's sake..  the last time there was an open spot at receiver we wound up with Dalton schoen... I think they've earned a little bit of trust on this particular issue.

I think this is a big part of it too... based purely on one preseason game, this years crop of recruits looks way better than last year

Yup, last years criticism was warranted based to his level of play last year - and deservedly so.   He has clearly stepped up his game and is rightfully being lauded for it.
Bennett also got roasted last year and that was also fair - if you step on the field as a pro, people should be able to expect a pro level performance.  They aren't expected to be an all-star right of out the gate but they should at least look like they belong out there.

Has nothing to do with any of that. I’m sensing I’ll be frustrated with the cuts because they’ll lean heavily ignorant of the issues plaguing our roster. We’ll lose some talented players who could develop into impact starters in order to keep good foot soldiers who try hard.

Again, just the hunch I have

Anybody who has followed the club the past number of years can see MOS values hardworking Canadian foot soldiers and guys he locks in on as key despite obvious drawbacks (See Jake starting, Briggs getting defensive reps last year, Sam Hurl, Kuale, Roc Carmichel, Hecht, Jackson)

People like to point to the Jeffcoats or Schoens as evidence that this regime isn't afraid to insert rookies when they show well enough. I often wonder though, if either of those guys had been blocked by an aging veteran (or inferior Canadian) instead of competing for a spot that happened to be open, would we have ever uncovered them? Like if Walters had re-signed Adams, does Dalton end up lighting it up for another team after being cut in training camp?

It doesn't matter who the coach is for the Riders... They're just dirtbags. What a dumb celebration on the fumble. You'd think they won the Western Final.

Barriere's college coach is now the qb coach for the Stamps. He gave us Mike Reilly, VA & Bo Levi Mitchell so he could end up there.

from my early take on what just seen...We will be better at QB2....Dline....Linebacker....Oline will be strong as ever....Receivers the same....running attack better....I think our defensive philosophy will be a much more aggressive attackig one than what Hall liked....I feel good from what I saw even from a pared down vanilla package....we put the right guys on the fielD on defense we are gonna have so many options and looks...it could be scary
Wilson as QB 3 may be a nice guy to develop here....Love his body type for QB up here...coverage team scares me again...but maybe with more of the regulars in their role, and addition of guys like Moses...Gemmel..Pertrishen we may surprise

I'd start ZC...Let him get what he needs...then roll with Wilson...let Barry clean up 4th quarter...and use Strev just to get in the short yardage groove...

Bombers more than held their own with Streveler just hitting stride before getting sat down.  Starting D was fast and effective.  The rest pretty meh with not a lot to go on due to very poor qb play.
Sheahan’s normal punting was pretty good… too bad our ST coach was allowed to go rogue all last year.
For all the talk about a renewed focus on discipline, Riders still look have have d-bag vibe to them.

D-Line play - Fox and Garbutt showing more than enough. Check
O-line play - when more of the starters were in they more than held their own. Check.
Linebackers - Moses jumping off the page. Check
Kick Returners - Chris Smith looks more than adequate. Cody Kase looked good too. Check
Quarterbacks - Strevy can run an offense. Would love for him to have made some more intermediate throws. Mostly check

Good prospects on D. No clue on O because the reanimated ghosts of Jason Boltus have been throwing into blue feet or green chests all game.
