Like the trade but Nichols in a Bellefuile offence will last maybe two games. I'd say Marve is done after his post-game interview and comments about no explosive plays... he'll be punished like Elliot was for speaking his mind. I'll believe it when Brohm is actually cut.

Marve was better last year usuing his natural abilities, this year he's been enrolled in Marcel's QB kindergarten and is failing miserably. His "natural abilities" aren't going to take him far if he doesn't learn how to pass at a basic level. Calgary had Simpson spying him and sealing the edge behind the end if Marve did try to leave the pocket. Calgary's ends also never came on inside moves, they stayed in pretty clearly defined wide rush lanes to not give him any opportunity to rollout or scramble. Marve is going to have a hell of a time leaving the pocket if he doesn't make teams respect his arm to at least a basic level. Shovel pass or screen solves this problem early...

We all saw that Brohm wasn't ready last year... yet he was second string going into this season. Marve is a decent mobile QB who needs experience... so instead we try to make him into a pocket passer. Bombers trade for Portis then ditch him. Our best hope is Joey Elliott right now... not even kidding. There's no one else.

I don't think impact on special teams equates to starting. You can ask the Team President about that. Agree - except they both got starting reps last year and didn't look out of place. I don't disagree, it seemed that Sherman had some good defensive work I don't remember Jones taking defensive reps. On the other hand a new DC is likely to use his players a bit differently and maybe even put something down on paper. Maybe all those years in Sask messed with Hall's playbook... 'Unclebrother, gopher gopher (armpit farts and chugs a pilsner), BRRRAAPPP (claps hands)'... everyone except Hurl shrugs. Might be time for the whiteboards.
