  1. Hamilton's O-Line is going to have to do a better job against our def. front four or it will be a long day for whoever is behind centre. Collaros is doomed.
  2. I swear that's the Bowman who was with the Bombers.
  3. Sears, of course, was just an example. There have been far too many UR/retaliatory-type penalties and any party who is guilty of those is a selfish player. It's not restricted to receivers. Bryant is not a popular player here, on this team. His penalties are more under the spotlight, and I challenge the deniability of that. And what I was saying before is, the more plays he would have made, the more forgiving the fans would have been.
  4. I'd venture to say that if they had connected two or three times over this spell, talk about Bryant would be different. I wouldn't. I saw him catch that 70 yarder that got called back on a penalty and I still think he's horrible. He may have speed to burn, but he has no awareness of the ball in flight and just like the first time he was here, he shows ZERO fight for a contested throw. Couple that with stupid penalty after stupid penalty and a turnover and I have no use for him. Although what you say is true of penalties, the difference is we 'abide' penalties from say, a Sears, and deplore them from outsiders, such as Bryant. Not all receivers contest for a ball, and that is what separates the good from the meh, and we call out Bryant for those, but there are others…and we don't call them out. I do wonder why. Bryant is an outsider, and probably, will be an outsider for good next year. But i still contend, if he and Willy could have some kind of connection, there would be more who would say, he's a good filler.
  5. You can talk about Etchverry all you want but you must know that O'Shea holds Etcheverry's knowledge and passion for his defence in the highest esteem, and it would take quite a discussion between he, Walters and Miller to change directions in the off season…in my opinion.
  6. And this is the point that O'Shea continually makes when callers call in about so-and-so, they haven't seen the film. As to why he is here, 17 is right…speed, he's still got it and it still gets him open. The unfortunate part is , he and Willy are not working yet. I'd venture to say that if they had connected two or three times over this spell, talk about Bryant would be different.
  7. Well, I want a new RB who will finish the year, with all the carries, and with a 7.8 yd avg. A new receiver, 6'6" and very quick - he doesn't have to be handsome. One of them there Amer. RTackles that will blow away a Bassie or Marcus Howard and be a teamer. A brand spanking new D-Lineman to come in and disrupt the entire league and force O-Lines to fear him and for Rod Black to coo him. Linebackers (not Lionbackers) I want three, sort of a set, quick, agile, and mean, and I mean mean. The displaced players will have to find room on STs or long-snapping, or in the secondary. Oh, and if possible, within the week, cause, they're out there, waiting…I've been told so.
  8. For me, I'm looking forward to Hamilton coming in here, on our turf, with out team being prepared and rested. Collaros…meet the Etch man. Now, actually that plays right into Collaros's hand because he is a better QB when he is scrambling, but if we're prepared, and we will be, we can get to this guy. As for offence, Brian Brohm. Don't know enough about him to toot any horns, but you gotta believe. At the very least, he will get some much needed playing time and he just had to (ho hum) 'manage a good game plan' and we can score. Oh, and no mistakes.
  9. Credit Ricky Ray for helping turn Owens into a weapon on offence, the likes that has not be seen in quite awhile.
  10. Too bad. Burmi was a creative player who could do magic with the puck. Sometimes, you have to give a player like that a little more leeway, but that wasn't going to happen under Noel. And now we're down to letting him go, more or less, to another team, for what we can get. You can't just try to fit these round players into square holes. Maybe Burni never adapts to the NHL, but I'd hate to see him do it…with another team.
  11. Welcome! You're a guest…and a Rider fan, it must be against some rules for you to welcome an Eskimo fan. It's OK. I went and took a shower. No, no, that wasn't my message. You're welcome….for now.

  13. My game ball went to Glenn because of it. When you start 18/20…..
  14. I had heard the same thing but…. Mike O'Shea confirmed on the Coach's show tonight that Sears is 100% healthy and that they consider the defensive backfield to be good condition at this time. When it comes right down to it, Sears is competing with Leggett, in terms of the position they consider him for. There was no talk whatsoever in consideration of Sears in some sort of LB role. They, as we, consider him a very good player. Romby Bryant was also mentioned and O'Shea considers him as one of the faster receivers, and they are trying to use him accordingly. So far, we've only seen some hits (receptions) but more misses, but that may be a QB-receiver type issue. And that can be worked on, IMO.
  15. Kelly, in the last Saskatchewan game, where Willy threw for Denmark, was wide open twelve yards down the field, and could have had twenty yards, at least. Sometimes these receivers do get open and the play doesn't get to them. This is football and this happens all the time. The unlove for Kelly is irrational.
  16. I suggest a Rider thread all of their own…to be read, or ignored as chosen.
  17. Why do you say that? Doege's been there all year. Look at Toronto last year as an example. Collaros leap frogged the second string Harris despite having less time with the offence. If Tino looks as bad as he did against the TiCats why wouldn't they throw Doege in there? They've both been taking first team snaps. Oh, I don't know …just a feeling…. There is no replacing Durant but the Riders are a veteran team with a tonne of talent. Tino doesn't have to force anything. Yes, but that's because you're in the 'rippling beneath the surface phase'. Wait…just wait.
  18. It would be idiotic to not give Sunseri more than one game.
  19. No spinning. TiCats laid a beating on the Riders. Sunseri likely gets a half, or maybe a game, and then next man up. Yeah, sounds familiar….it's kinda like, one fumble from an RB…next man up.
  20. We didn't offer Burris that kind of money. And your theory about the availability theory being flawed is flawed. Fact is nobody knew that Collaros, then Burris would be released in the manner they were. There was that free agency thing. So teams were probably talking and information exchanged, but nobody could know in advance who wanted whom and in what order.
  21. So, as long as they stayed in their gaps, and made their tackles, the run defence would work….sounds about right. So, what does that tell you? I'm an O'shea fan, but this quote is like saying that if you step in front of a bus, you'll be alright if you hold your ground and don't get mushed. Really, that's what your mind comes up with? A bus fare scenario?
  22. Game definitely wasn't over when Willy got injured. For some of these guys, the game is over after the first run of 10 yards...
  23. So, as long as they stayed in their gaps, and made their tackles, the run defence would work….sounds about right. So, what does that tell you? That it isn't working. I'll leave that for you to figure out. No, it's you that figured it out, maybe, Not once did i say it was working, nor did I say I agree with the concept. All I said …….was not to put words in O'Shea's mouth that he didn't say.
