Personally, i'm suprised and very happy with how he showed. For the first time in many years, a QB not name Nichols, an inexperienced QB took to the field, and we didn't blame them for the loss. I think that says alot about how a young rookie, straight from College, showed up in TC, took the backup role, then starting role due to injury and played well against on of the best teams in the league and lost only in the final seconds of the game. Not on him.

Yah.. that fine.. Friends can call friends out when they say stupid ****. But friends dont flip on friends and call them stupid, trolls, or non-fans. I have no issues with people disagreeing and arguing with something they don't agree with. That what i love about Forums like this. But, when people revert to name calling and belidiling and telling people to leave, its a different situations.

Long story short, after reading this whole thread, Tburgess said the Strevler played good. Not amazing, Not bad, better then he expected. Then when questioned everyone started comparing stats. I respect your knowledge of the game and being a member of the forum, but you are quick to pick on and call people names when you don't agree with them. If we were all actual friends in real life, you would find yourself on the outside looking in. If we all worked on a team in an office, you would have been long gone by now. TBurgess and others aren't innocent, but i find you to be on the attach quite often.. Or maybe i just hate your avatar so i single you out. And its not just you either. I get that some posters are annoying and constantly have a different view of the team, and where they stand, but instead of engaging them and having a debate, people turn to calling them stupid, not a fan or a troll. It gets tiresome reading the attacks from both sides. But Negatron is right, This thread sucks, and i could use some gin

It is amazing that we are not complaining about the 23 year old Rookie QB that took the field and scored three touchdowns.. Rather how the D was not able to make a stop to win the game or send it in to OT. Strevler played better then i expected showed a lot of promise.. If he does the same in montreal, we will likely come out with a win. It was nice to see his dad in stands cheering and looking so happy!

Sask look BAD in preseason and on paper, but that made a charge to end the year that i wasn't expecting. I hope to see TO kill them. 40-17 Argos.

I think the loss is on the D. they couldn't stop them when they needed it and they marched down for a TD.. The d remains to be the biggest concern surprisingly.

I'm not going into the first game expecting to win with out rookie Qbs, but i'm hoping they keep it close, can pull out a win. After watching the Sask Game, i'm pretty worried for the riders. All the QBS looked bad with their starters in there. .The o-line looked horrendous and couldnt give Collaras anytime to get set and find a reciever. I'm not worried about our 7th place in the power raking, But its laughable, based on pre-season play, that Sask is in fourth when then most other teams looked alot better.

i may be in the minority, but i really like the CFL coverage game day experience. Aside from Rod Black i find the commentators great. Sportnet? Meh. No thanks.

i'm not expecting huge things from him, but i'm hoping he shows well and is capable enough to make it close or to pull off a win. His college stats look good, but this is the CFL. It appears he has all the tools to play in the CFL, Big, strong and mobile, but there is alot for him to adjust to, and most QBs coming up here can't make anything of it after several years.

Exactly my thoughts. Strevler starting the game should be it’s own thread. Why do I need to wade through discussions about things I’m not interested in to find out the latest and start commenting on it.

I like pointed specific threads about different topics. The one big thread and thirty pages is frustrating etc. I used to use this site to keep up to date on the latest bomber news but now I find /cfl on reddit alerts me way faster. I just have to look at the subreddit and all the news has its own thread. People don’t always comment on them but I see them and then jump here and wade through the 30 page posts to see what everyone thinks. Nate used to start threads about everything and although I found his ideals a bit insane I like reading and commenting on posts. Now, by the time I get through the 2-3 pages I’ve missed out on the part I wanted to comment on because it’s moved past it in the following hours and days so I end up not posting and reading only. when I start getting news about Nichols or Bighill type news from an co-worker that doesn’t follow the bombers. Something is broken and I used to see news topics posted on here and OB and knew as soon as it happened. I also used used to enjoy all the links to bomber news/twitter/websites that people posted but that went away here too so now I just check reddit and then hope to catch it in the main thread here before it moves along. Also so I don’t find big blue annoying at all. I’m on here because I like talking g and reading about he bombers and enjoy the insight and excitement a lot of posters have. If I find someone annoying , I do what I do in the real world, put up with it or ignore it and read one.

I would take him over Willy, who has shown he is broken in some regard (mentally?), Were adams hasn't had the chance to play. And maziel > Adams. I would say that i would also be okay with willy being given another change to play Behind nichols and given time to grow into a better QB which he showed he was capable of being. I think with our much stronger o-line and improved offensive weapons (Bowman, adams, Harris, dressler, demski et al) he would do alot better. Without any personal knowledge of his situations, it seems like his confidence in his reads and him second guessing himself with a fear of being hit caused most of his issues. I don't see it working out for him in montreal.. But i could see him being the 2nd string QB here that could possible regain his prior form. But. thats hard to do when you have Shrevler that looks better so far coming right out of college.

? he isn't saying we should pick up a QB. he is saying that we are expecting too much form the team to be effective with pure rookies at QB regardless of the talent around them,, With even flutie (all star QB) pulling a 71 QB rating in his first year. Assuming that our backups are no where close to flutie, its hard to argue we can win alot of games, atleast initially, with rookie QBs, regardless of the strength of the team around them.. Expect the worst, hope for the best. That way you are okay or really happy if we loose or win.

I hope this is the Case, but we have see the coaching staff Leave Nichols in when the game is over and we are up by a sizable margin. We Left drew willy in for 5 games to give him a chance vs pulling him after a ruff start for Nichols.

Well.. I don't think it is. Not to Speak for him , but looking at last Year, CGY, EDM,TOR, Were really strong teams at the end of the season. Without major changes to the QB stable, Offence or Defence, its logical to assume that these teams will be similar or stronger then last year. Our team looks stronger on Offence and Bighill resolves a gapping issue we have had for a few seasons at MLB. But Starting games with inexperienced QBs in winnipeg has not gone well in Decades. DECADES. so it logical to assume that the new rookie QBS with 3 games between them are going to be hardpressed to be productive. This doesn't mean i wouldn't love to see us win most of these games or for Ross or Shrevler to light it up and do enough to win us games. But so far, based on the plethora of Young QBs that have graced the field in the last 20 years and failed horribly i'm not getting my hopes up. Still going to enjoy the games. Just setting expectations incredibly low.

Listening to the Radio yesterday, it sounds like Ross is going to get the first Half, Shreveler the third and Bennet the 4th. If true, that Means they are going with Ross to start the season, or perhaps giving him enough to play himself out of the job? I dunno.. I don't expect us to win any games until Nichols is back so, if we win, i will be really happy, and if they lose i will be okay as the bar is set low.

I was listening on 1290, and Gauthier has had the number since high school and is attached to it. My Guess is big hill gets the number still.. I was arguing with a sask fan on reddit that was saying the same thing about nichols not being anything special and that we will not win with him. Yet.. he had the best QB efficency rating of all qbs in the league last year but admittedly through for lesser yards. They argued that nichols was a dink and dunk QB, but really its the offence that has them make the quick reads and drop it off to harris et all if mid to long range is no there. It has worked pretty well to this point and has save NIchols from alot of hard hits while also being productive. Demski and Bauman can do a lot to help move the ball and hopefully Big hill can help stop the D from giving up so many yards down the field.
