I'm pretty sure Calgary or any other team are not signing guys just so that they won't play for another team.

I'm not sure of the reasons.. but it does seem to me that some of the guys we bring up don't get a fair shake. Thompkins seemingly caught everything going his way when he played. I'm not sure if plays were not designed for him to be the target or if Nichols just wasn't throwing his way?

I have no idea on his personal life and personality... but Montreal and Toronto are way more attractive cities to live in. Maybe he doesn't want to be in the spot light and every move being criticized... it's easier to hide in those markets. For his own health I'd imagine Toronto has a better o-line and less of a disaster as Montreal. That being said he could move close to his family by going to BC, enjoy nicer weather, play indoors, play in a much nicer city and play with a playoff calibre team... makes the most sense to me.

17to85 is highly over exaggerating the impact of Lapo. If both LaPo and Nichols were to be cut loose today... LaPo's phone would be ringing off the hook with offers higher then what he is making now... Nichols may get a pity call and a considerable pay cut to back up someone else. Nichols is Kevin Glenn 2.0 at this point.... serviceable back up... limited mobility... can excel if he has massive protection... gets rattled and can't overcome it (anymore). At this point I think the team would be better off paying 400 and whatever thousand to Henry Burris one year out of football then paying that money to Matt Nichols. I will disagree with Colin about bringing in Jennings.. I'd rather Streveler play then Jennings just hucking up random balls.

Ummm after 3 quarters Nichols had how many yards throwing? When the RB is getting big yards how isn't the passing game on the qb? As I said before... several times this year Nichols looked really off with great protection and wide open receivers... how isn't those issues solely on the qb?

Not that I'm surprised but apparently Iranian Hulk is very fat and his photos are more photo-shopped then I originally thought...

I find it odd that it's always Lapo has got to go... but when the team is clicking on offense it's always Nichols is back to playing the way he used to. The only game I went to this season was the stinker against Ottawa and it was night and day clear that the issues was Nichols not seeing wide open targets and missing on his throws. Meanwhile Streveler comes in ice cold and with the same play selection and the same protection and receivers he was hitting on all cylinders and had the Ottawa defense on their heels. I can agree with some of the weird play calls in the red zone being on Lapo... but when Nichols struggles to make a basic high % low risk throw then you can't dump that all on Lapo.

I wouldn't want a full rebuild, most of the pieces are in place. Unfortunately Nichols clearly isn't the answer and we will simply need some patience and I assume next season we lower expectations and then hope to challenge again in 2 years when Streveler hopefully will be our guy.

I just don't understand why several people on here hold Strevelers age against him? We've had a tonne of QBs older then him who showed absolutely nothing at all over the years. The guy played more then enough downs to show that he has some great tools.

What I would love to have is Nichols taking a big pay cut, give the keys to Streveler and give him half a season and see how he does with an offense that is based around him. I'd way much rather have Nichols coming in as relief then having to depend on him to win.

A quick google image search of Ellsworth ...... I am not shocked that this guy is a creeper. I'm surprised he's even in wrestling.

I don't know if they'll have money to spend on those positions after the sheer amount of FA we have to re-sign.... it'll be up to our recruiting to get those spots filled

I didn't say we would have to cut Nichols, I'd rather just start Streveler and eventually move on from Nichols. It would be a tough price to pay having to dish out 400 000 k for a back up... but I'd rather get the guy ready sooner rather then later.

I thought why not start a knee jerk reaction thread after a disappointing loss.. I would like to move on from Nichols, mainly because unless everything is running at an optimal level he can't get the job done. I'd much rather have a guy who can actually run and throw on the run in case the oline has some pressure on them. We blame the receivers but from my eyes this season it seemed like the receivers did not get passed to them mid stride on a consistent basis. It seems like unless Nichols has numerous steamboats that his passes require the receiver to dive or go high/low to make the catch. I would not mind handing the keys over to Chris and save a crap load of money signing someone else as a backup. I'll a take a year of growing pains over a guy who can't rollout and make a pass 15 yards down the field...

The club would have nothing to gain from keeping this a secret? It's not that big of a deal.

A new era of QB's for the CFL to come, I'm ok with that. It would be nice for other teams to have to suffer like we did by putting many different QB's on the field until they find one that sticks.
