  1. Well they may sign one guy who wrestles once in a while at a local dumpy bar with a dubious promoter
  2. I am unaware of any of those leagues having North American TV deals that many people can access? As for the midgets comments.. I seem to remember guys like Shawn Micheals, Ric Flair and Bret Hart getting over despite being average heights? If AEW gets a good tv deal and if they have good angles / story lines and something that can draw adults to watching then I don't see why it can't do well? If they only focus on wrestling then yes I agree it won't draw any casuals over.
  3. They find a way to keep Laine simple as that. No way do they trade away a goal scorer with his kind of talent. If Toronto can find a way to sign all those contracts then Winnipeg can find a way.
  4. Yuck!
  5. So will AEW be the first wrestling organization with a union?
  6. On Jim Ross's podcast last week he did not hide it well that he will be involved with AEW. Made it seem very obvious with what he said.
  7. It didn't help when near the end WCW was paying a million dollars to draw a low rating with Kiss playing live on the show or when they started massively over paying C level talent. I love reading stories about how a bunch of guys were making 6 figures and were "forgotten" about and would hide at the tapings just so that they didn't notice them still being around. At the start they made wise investments with Hogan and Macho mainly because they brought in other advertisers which helped justify their high costs. It also helped that WWE literally gave those guys away. WCW had the upper hand also by not having the crazy road schedule of the WWF at the time. With Omega if they offer something close to WWE it would make sense for him to go with them. But if the offer is something along the lines of 3.5 million guarantee compared to only 1 million.... then in my opinion he would be unwise to take the lower offer. At some point you have to cash out because at any point his career can be over with one bad accident.
  8. I heard on the radio they re-signed... Jake Thomas. I have a good feeling that Bighill will be next!
  9. Everybody has a price.. they would just need to ante up more money.
  10. Great signing! Next Bighill!
  11. I was listening to a podcast last night with Bruce Prichard talking about Gene Okerlund. What they brought up was back in the day when the wrestlers were shooting promos they would only tell them where they were fighting and who it was against and everything else was completely ad libbed. Bruce said Mean Gene was the best because they literally let the guy do his own shtick and had absolutely nothing scripted. Fast forward Gene comes back for the 25th anniversary of Raw and couldn't believe how many writers/producers they had and how the wrestlers had to all follow a script. I miss the days where the wrestlers own personalities would come through with the characters they played. The forced stuff just seems so awkward and so bland..
  12. My main point was because a few fellows on here boasted about the main reason the team struggled was the coach when for myself and a few others thought it was more so the players and the GM...
  13. Just a kind reminder for the two or three funny guys on here who insisted that Edmonton is a vastly different team after the coaching change... I just want to point out that Ken Hitchcock's coaching record is 10- 9 - 2 while Todd McLellan was 9-10-1
  14. I will assume that their is a considerable amount of people like myself who loved watching wrestling as a kid and then once again when Stonecold and the Rock were on top. For myself I stopped watching because it catered to little children and everything was so bland and vanilla. I think they could re-capture a lot of people who stopped watching if they could provide some kind of decent product that has at least a tiny bit of edge to it.
  15. I can remember going to games and seemingly KD Williams was in on every single play on defense and so many tackles at the line or at a loss.... the guy was definitely a playmaker.
  16. I know it's been a long time but back when Bret Hart left WWE he took a then monster deal of 2.5 million per year (compared to the 1.5 WWE was paying him), with Shawn Micheals being jealous because he was only getting 750 000. Crazy how times have changed.
  17. Is that 3.5 million per year or over a 5 year period?
  18. If TNA can survive without a billionaire then I'd imagine this can also survive. All they will need to do is avoid bringing in old has beens like Russo, Cornette, Bischoff that would be a good start.

Floyd made that look easy. So what's the count down before Jon Jones tests positive again and gets stripped of the LHW title for the 4th time?
  20. Make a trade because they lose two in a row? If they lose three do we blow it up and do a full rebuild?
  21. I think the whole getting mad at the fans because they booed didn't help fans giving him the benefit of the doubt. Nichols isn't egotistical like some of the boneheaded other QB's.. but it would be refreshing to take some accountability.
  22. Which is a shame because it wasn't only death matches , some of the most entertaining wrestling I ever watched was when guys like Rob Van Dam and 2 Cold Scorpio and Jerry Lynn would put on amazing matches without the need of barbed wires and blading...
  23. As much as a creep as he is... the man sure can act...

I read that some of the fighters didn't find out about the move until after the media reported it... Apparently the move will cost them 5 million expected from the loss of revenue at the gate...
