B.C. /T.O. Calg/Sask
I watched both games and my thoughts: Toronto needs to fire the kicker, the special teams coach and Chamblin needs to get his shot together. They have had terrible special teams all season long and it lost them the game tonight. BC is going to be last place...just terrible stuff from them. Man Suitor was really trying to save Rider fans from jumping over. He made it seem like it's typical for a guy like Fajardo to play this bad. After the **** play of Davis and Fajardo can TSN stop pumping these guys up? Calgary looked well coached and played with intensity today. I still think they are beatable. Can TSN stop saying RPO.... It's like they learned a new word and won't stop using it. Also can someone tell Davis Sanchez that Chris Rainey is on Toronto and not BC. I do appreciate Benevides , Smith and Dunigan for being honest on how shitty Toronto was coached tonight.

GDT: Bombers vs Ottawa
I didn't read the complete thread but I thought we thoroughly kicked the **** out of Ottawa tonight. I do respect the Ottawa D for trying until the end despite it being insanely hot and humid and the Bombers O being on the field for so much longer. Absolutely zero pass rush from the Redblacks, Nichols had all day long. TSN *finally* stopped slobbering over Davis as he looked like a guy that was not comfortable and forcing some questionable balls. I didn't even notice Bighill was gone, the front 7 was rock solid and everyone including the ST wrapped up their tackles beautifully tonight. Also Ryan Lankford should be canned.... what a terrible play by him. My only concern is no Matthews yet again.... and apparently he's hurt?

3 stars plus HH red black n blues
I'm going to crap on Nichols, he definitely wasn't a top 3 player tonight. He had zero pass rush and a load of time to make his throws. He facked up a 2nd down throw where it wobbled and floated in the air and nearly was picked off. Few of his short throws were definitely not hitting the guy in stride. Top 3 guys IMO Jefferson / Nevis Harris Sayles

I'm glad Montreal won, hopefully they can pull a few more out.

Bombers @ Lewis Ward's 47 yard missed FG Pre-game Thread
I don't know why anyone has concern about Jefferson. While he may not have the numbers his play has been solid and he's really contained the QB and pushed him towards Jeffcoat who has something like 12 hurries already. No concerns at all about him. Only guy on D who is on the radar is Fenner and that's about it.

Free Agency
Cup contenders do not trade away all of their UFA's just so they don't lose out. It's part of the game and every team does it.

Free Agency
On the radio this morning they said it was a 2 year - 6 million offer that he turned down. After that the Jets made a lowball offer and then pulled the offer.

Free Agency
I don't think we have been fleeced... I think everyone is massively overpaying for some of our guys. Jets did offer Chairot 2 years for 6 million and even that seems a bit high. The guy was steady but easily replaceable. I'd much rather the team dump salary for this season on a one year contract for one of the older guys still on the market then being on the hook for 3 years at 3.5 million per season on a guy who is very average.

RIP Perkins everywhere in town. Most of them have closed and/or will be closing shortly.

Bombers @ Lewis Ward's 47 yard missed FG Pre-game Thread
The times we lost to Ottawa was because Burris/Harris could pass at will against us and hitting their top guys in stride for big 10 + yard plays. I'm not afraid of Davis and a receiving core that is depleted.

Free Agency
Add in not having to pay the taxes so it makes the salary even more "higher" then anywhere else...

Bombers @ Lewis Ward's 47 yard missed FG Pre-game Thread
Pretty simple... need to rush Davis and everything else will fall into place.

GDT: Argos @ 'Riders
O'Shea who is loyal to a fault to his players.... I would assume is loyal to this club. I'd be absolutely blown away if he left us for Toronto. He's not that type of guy.
-
GDT: Argos @ 'Riders
I only casually watched the first half but Darby Jr should be cut the moment that game ended. Ian Wild also needs to hang them up... whiffed numerous times. The Argos kick coverage is putrid. Only shitty part of this game is that the Rider fans heads will swell so big thinking Fajardo is the next BLM...

That panarin contract yikes!

Riders win in a landslide ... At least by 15 points

Matt Nichols Discredited Too Much? Passing Yards Are Meaningless
I don't get comparing QBs against each other. It's not like Reilly or Nichols has any impact on each other. Nichols has been average no doubt about it. Any qb can hand the ball off to Harris or toss a screen pass to Whitehead who then deeked out 5 guys to make the TD. Thankfully we have great special teams and I'd say a great defense. So we only need Nichols to play at a C level to win most games. If an opposing team gels and can take advantage of our defense. Then clearly Nichols is not the type to put the team on his back and win the game for us. For now it's good enough. Clearly if we had Reilly or Harris as our QB that our offense would be much better. But with the price tag they take then we wouldn't have Bighill and Jefferson. I'll take a mediocre QB and two all star defense over an all star an and a bunch of fringe players surrounding him.

GDT: Edmonton @ Winnipeg June 27, 2019
I don't think Nichols is anywhere near Willy post beatdown. I'd just feel more comfortable if he could string several 10-20 yard passes in a row. Watching Harris and Masoli, it feels like they can chew up the middle of the field with ease while we struggle. Whoever said Streveler was inaccurate is out to lunch. Nichols is more accurate on the long bombs but the short and medium Chris can actually throw a bullet and hit a guy in stride.

Larks @ Tiger-Cats. GDT.
Montreal was really really bad on kick coverage and tackling. Same goes with the tackling in the secondary... everyone was bouncing off and breaking tackles on them. Masoli was very hot and cold, he tossed some terrible low percentage passes but also found lots of wide open guys and hit them on the mark. I'd like to see Hamilton against a real team.

Matt Nichols Discredited Too Much? Passing Yards Are Meaningless
So much more then simply pointing out to the TD totals also though. In the last 5 minutes everyone on Edmonton was dropping passes that were hitting them in the mitts. Many more factors then passing and TDs. The old eye test is what I think is the best and Nichols struggled mightily and went stone cold way to often. If our *defense* comes back down to earth we will be a middle of the pack team. I only wish the coaches had given Streveler at least a few series after Nichols was clearly playing like crap.

Matt Nichols Discredited Too Much? Passing Yards Are Meaningless
I think Nichols would of helped his image had he been able to put together a few drives in the 4th quarter and if he wasn't so easy to turtle up and shut down with the slightest pressure.

In fairness Maas did also call some boneheaded plays. I liked when Dunigan called him out on 3rd and long doing a shotgun snap hand off.

Odds and Sods - 2019 - Edmonton at Winnipeg
I'm glad you brought that point up. I thought our d-line was doing a great job of pushing them back but from my eyes everyone was getting held both this week and week one.

I thought Jefferson was getting good pressure the last two games. I think the sacks will be coming shortly.
