Also why do people think Nichols would suddenly retire just to be a QB coach? If the Blue don't want him , every other team will at least offer him back up QB money with incentives.
-
At least he isn't with Saskatchewan! As for Buck Pierce being a gun slinger... he had a lot of heart but it's not like the guy was throwing bombs when he was playing (healthy). Danny McManus was a gun slinger.... Pierce was more of a LaPo type of guy of the short passes and moving around the pocket. I'd assume his familiarity with the offense that he wouldn't make many changes. The million dollar question is can he game plan against defenses, make changes on the fly and can he talk his qb into throwing passes more then 5 yards down the field. As for LaPo .... I'm curious to see who they bring in as QB. I hope he gets 2 seasons at least to help right the ship since it's such a mess.
-
So with this news is Lapo our O-Coordinator in 2022?
-
That was starter money.... I don't see him making that much cash as a back up. Collaros will be probably signing for that kind of cash maybe a tad more.
-
It's not like he has a noodle arm like LeFevour or Goltz... the guy has shown that he can throw the ball.

1290, I think it was Farhan Lalji who was talking about it with the afternoon guys. -

On the radio they said that most likely Nichols won't even be ready for the start of the season. That's concerning... -
Anyone actually listen or believe anything Pederson says? The guy isn't connected at all.
-
Big difference is Collaros showed that he can play when he mattered and against the best teams.... Nichols track record has been super iffy. The risk with Nichols is that we don't know how further deteriorated he is at this point after this last injury. Collaros has shown that right at this moment he can play and play much better. I'd say the risk with Nichols is higher. Also with Nichols it's clear that he's on a steady decline physically and is not the same player as he used to be. He physically can't make plays unless he has perfect protection. Both guys are stop gaps and high risk.

I understand players having a change of mind, but to quit on the team is not cool. I wouldn't call myself leaving a champ when you quit on the team. Not honorable at all. -

What's the story of him leaving the team? Was he hurt? -
It's not surprising that this team would not want Maas.... the personality is way to strong and opposite of what O'Shea is.
-
On 1290 Maurice explained that they like his face off and defensive game. They talked about Gus probably going to the juniors and how depleted the moose and jets are and that this is a low risk move. He's not being brought in to score .

What kind of contract should the club offer? $250 + a lot of bonuses? -
Absolutely both Collaros and Nichols are guys that are one hit away from retirement. Both I would not see as durable at this point with their own issues and would not be a guy to hitch your future on. It's unfortunate that Strev did not progress on his passing game as it would make this decision so much easier.
-
But where does his wife work.... won't that be the determining factor?
-
In fairness Nichols did beat Calgary with a whopping 177 yards passing.... against Arbuckle and a massively depleted defense riddled with injuries and while playing at home with nice weather... totally the same as playing against BLM on the road with the defense mostly healthy......
-
Nichols has .0252 of his throws as ints Collaros has .0247 of his throws as ints.
-
I think Strev's passing is under rated, I wish they would have more plays designed where he rolls out and throws some bombs....
-
A lot more will be sold with Christmas coming soon
-
The club really doesn't have much in the way for trading pieces. Do they want to give up on Roslovic? Maybe Buff comes back healthy and wants out and we can off load him?
-
Maybe he calls him Donkey Kongbo and then gets Cherrified where people complain and he then gets fired??? We can only hope?

Campbell in BC... well it can't be as bad as Claybrooks who looked totally lost last season. It will be an upgrade. They will need to be big players in free agency though to bring in life to that team.

I'm guessing for the QB spot they really need to figure out who will be the OC first..... worst case scenario would Strev + McGuire be the end of everything? -
Well considering LaPo hates calling mid range pass plays which usually eat our defense up... I wouldn't be worried playing against his O. We are very good at stuffing the run and short game.
