I know this is all theoretical at this point and may not happen in my lifetime, but all roads point to nuclear power as our future. All that has to happen is that people have to get over their panicky idiot fears of nuclear energy and stop pulling Three Mile Island and Fukishima out of their scared butts. The potential of nuclear power, if harnessed properly, is virtually limitless.
This may be a hoax, but even if it has any potential at all, we could eliminate gas powered cars: http://xposethereal.com/re-fuel-every-100-years-with-the-new-thorium-car.html
I also like nuclear because Canada has some of the biggest uranium deposits in the free world, and the next Fort McMurray could be based in Northern Saskatchewan. Companies like Fisson and Hathor have made some monster finds there in the past few years. Go nuclear! Wind power, solar power, it all sucks, especially as far north as we are, and requires huge subsidization with extremely low returns thanks to the intermittency. That's never going to change, thanks to the laws of thermo-dynamics, which a lot of Greens seem to think can be bent to their purposes (why not - look at all the junk science that is going on to prove man-made global warming is occurring?) whereas nuclear power provides a steady power source at affordable rates.

Boom! This right here. Both sides of the argument would be singing koombaya if this was the consistent message.

Start small: Composting. Rain barrels. Recycling. http://www.eco-fitt.com/mbhydro/ <-- efficient faucet fixtures and shower heads. Free and easy. No excuse not to.

Feeling ambitious (and have money to burn)? The wife and I have been dreaming of building new, with insulated concrete form construction, geo-thermal heat, green roof and solar panels, grey water recycling... anything to get off the grid and be wholly sustainable, or as close as possible. The upfront cost is nothing compared to the savings in both energy use and reduced utility bills. It's worth the trouble.

4.6 billion actually, unless they've gone and changed their estimates again but pretty sure it's 4.6

I fully accept that the world has experienced climate change long before man existed. I don't accept that man-made CO2 emissions have nothing to do with accelerating or exacerbating climate change.

My dad told stories about him and his buddies riding their bikes all the way from North Kildonan to the Dairy Whip on Marion (he called it 'Mikes Dairy Whip', I suppose after the owner at the time?). I have to say they make a really good chili burger. I also recommend 'The Burger Place' at Portage and Rutland; get a double-deluxe with cheese and a poutine if you like fat-boy style burgers, long naps, and have little regard for your own well being.

Like in anything the truth is always found in the middle not on the margins. Although not fanatically on either side can not see the harm in reducing our GHG emissions and coming up with better mitigating technologies.

See this is the only point we really disagree on and you are wrong to try and deny that it is a thing. Yeah reports on the severity change, but I agree with you that it's not as dire as people want to make it, but there is a relationship. I have a geology major and a geography minor, if there's anything I know it's how the Earth works and I am well aware of different climates in the past and different atmospheric conditions, but the science is settled, more green house gasses in the atmosphere means more heat trapped which means the climate changes. They can and will quibble about the extent of it and what kinds of things is causes but the facts are that there is a change as a result. So you really just need to clarify what you're arguing. Don't argue that man made climate change is not real because that is a losing argument. Argue the things that you do, just leave out the whole bit about denying it's a thing.

This. It's exactly the kind of position you'd expect from Doug Brown. He was a player rep, he was involved in these dealings before, he's still a player at heart I think so naturally he's on their side.

Trouble is that the CFL would never go through a lock out. It wouldn't survive one and the players quite simply are replaceable except for a handful. If push comes to shove they'll fold faster than superman on laundry day purple monkey dishwasher.

Anybody who doesn't think the worst Bomber home game of all time was the 2009 Banjo Bowl is crazy. Never had a worse gameday experience in my life. I do agree though that the Boltus experience vs BC was really bad.

Count me in as a Max Hall fan as well. I'm comfortable with him as a backup. If Glenn was cut, or the asking price was reasonable, I'd bring him in, but what the redblacks are asking for now is crazy.

Another drive by of the past regime? Come on that's lazy writing. Seems like he's tooting Walters horn when maybe he should be tooting Millers horn more. It's the CEO not the GM who gives out more money for operations staff. And let's be honest here, Walters based on his experience level should be making less money as a GM too. It's an article that really is Lawless' MO. Hype up the people he likes while cutting down people he doesn't. There's nothing ground breaking there and until we see the results on the field it's all just self serving.

Nik Lewis can play on my team any day of the week.  He's one of the few receivers who I'd trust to get that extra yard or two when we really need it.
