  1. What an awful sentiment. Who cares the colour of skin involved? It's the ideology. Obviously much to soon to speculate but people will speculate when the attack was on a soldier. Especially after the attack a few days ago. You never want to politicize something like this but I admit to thinking on the many stupid things Trudeau has said. I think the point there is that if it's the stereotype it just furthers said stereotype and leads to all sorts of prejudice and racism perpetuating further. If it were a born and raised white Canada it's hard to fly off the handle about Islam and muslims etc etc. I just hope the government doesn't use this as an excuse to go all 'Murica! and start taking away freedoms and rights in the name of safety because that's the worst possible response. You got it 17, sorry you missed my point TUP. Incase you aren't aware, following an event like 9/11 there was a lot of misdirected hatred towards anyone that even slightly resembled an arab. Sikhs and east Indians, middle eastern Jews... anyone with a beard and a tan, really... so ya, I sincerely hope this is some home grown psychosis so we don't have any more fuel added to the fire of racial intolerance and suspicion.
  2. Please oh please let the shooter be a Canadian born white boy from some farm out in the bush. For the sake of peaceful brown people everywhere. There is such a thing as domestic terrorism, and airstrikes in Iraq won't stop the Timothy McVeighs and FLQs of the world.
  3. And hand grenades. Was just about to say that .. Dad's favorite quote. That, and proclaiming we are having '**** on a shingle' when I asked what was for dinner. Odd bird.
  4. And hand grenades.
  5. Can't agree enough. During the off season I'm STARVING for every scrap of CFL news I can get. Once the season arrives, I don't miss a game. The season is too short and the off season is too long... you just don't wait all winter to pass on game action. EDIT: I may PVR it, but I'll definitely watch it
  6. Okay let me get this straight. We shouldn't believe that Grigsby is a sub-par RB based on our own observations, but you're willing to accept that the Bombers cut him solely to save a couple bucks? Based on...nothing at all? Wow indeed.
  7. If anyone here actually called him one of the worst backs in the league it's hyperbole. He had speed, he could catch, eventually he remembered how to block, too. Grigsby just wasn't good enough to do what we expect him to: break tackles. I remember in game one when he took a huge hit that should have put him down for a loss, but instead he bounced and spun off the tackler and ran it upfield for a few extra yards. When that happened I forgot all about Cotton's pre-season showing. And that's pretty much the last time he impressed me.
  8. I bet that 'Great Grigsby / best athlete in the CFL' video went straight to his head. Don't believe your own press, they say.
  9. Honestly the biggest underperformance of the season. I predicted Smith was going to do some good things this season. Yep, who knew Crompton would show better than Smith.
  10. We should trade him to Toronto for an American DL we'll never see.
  11. I skimmed the tweets and didn't see much worth discussing, maybe they've been deleted. Closest to negativity I found was something like 'Trying real hard to be a pro right now' I also wanted to see someone other than Grigsby in the backfield but Cotton hardly lit it up like I hoped he would...
  12. Woo Cotton! Been waiting all season to see him get a legit shot at the starting gig.
  13. So, we're not signing any players, but when we do, they are not wowful enough. I'm curious, how the hell would we know until we sign them? Only sign perennial all-stars, duh. Wake up, Mr Dee!
  14. Fan Poll Who will win Friday night's games? Ottawa and Calgary9% Ottawa and Saskatchewan60% Winnipeg and Calgary22% Winnipeg and Saskatchewan9% Total Votes : 438 From CFL.ca right this moment.
  15. Anyone know who the head ref will be?
  16. Agreed, 4 is the best version. I was seriously dissappointed by 5, I've got it tied with Revolution for PS3 as my least favorite version. Yep, both 5 and Revolution were 'Civ - lite'. Too easy!
  17. Makes me glad to see all the Civ love in this thread. I have Civ 4 (all expansions) and Civ 5... Civ 4 is the best, or at least most in-depth incarnation if you ask me. Civ 5 is pretty much click continue til you win, not really all that much fun. If I could add up all the hours I spent playing Civ 1 when I was a kid... it would be embarrassing. On the plus side, I was the only grade 4 student who knew who Hammurabi was. That made me super cool and the envy of my peers
  18. good to hear. Their drummer is outstanding. Did either of you see Mastadon and Opeth a couple years back? I missed it... still kicking myself... if I had to choose only one metal band to listen to the rest of my life, it would be Opeth... and it's not even close. I've seen Opeth a few times, it may have been at the Garrick I saw them last for the Watershed release. Which was... forever ago, now that I think about it.... MARRY ME

  20. When I read Willy would get the start:
  21. Boo this man. BOOOOOO
  22. I was feeling pretty shitty about myself when I went 1-3 in the Pick 'Ems. Then I felt a shame I can't describe when my wife beat my ass this week in the TSN Fantasy scores. I take solace knowing that she beat the rest of you as well Congrats, BomberBug, on placing #1 in the MBB pool this week and 99th overall country wide. Now go make me a sandwich.
  23. I was pretty sure I was going 0-4 until that last TD from Dressler.
  24. To be fair to Walters and the Canadian depth, he did make the move for Neufeld and drafted OL with our top pick. It's not as though he ignored the Canadian content on the o-line, but perhaps more Canadian competition would have been a good idea.
