  1. I was going to write a measured response with links to statistics on reputable sites, but realized I would be wasting my time. Anything remotely critical I say will be interpreted as "omgz hes teh suck cuz he not star yet!" or some such nonsense. Detractors need to learn patience? A pro ball players average career is 3.3 years. Tell me precisely how long I have to wait before I'm allowed to have an opinion. What if he turns ino the next Clermont? Why stop there?!? What about the next Fantuz!?! More likely he's the next Mike DiCroce or Liam Mahoney. At this point, I'd settle for the next Jade Etienne or Jabari Arthur; at least he will have seen the field and caught some passes. I shouldn't have to add "I'm a Bomber fan and I'm hoping for the best" but I guess I have to if I don't want to get roasted or labelled a negatron. God forbid anyone call a spade a ******* shovel around here.
  2. It's true Durant isn't lighting it up or anything, and he doesn't even get to see the field all that often, but he does play on special teams and he does tend to catch balls that are thrown at him. 35 catches, 402 yards and a TD in 15 games throughout 2016. That's measurably more than Richards, the player we picked instead, has been able to do so far (I don't blame him for being injured). Sadly it's also more than Rory Kohlert, our top starting Canadian receiver in 2016 was able to muster (29 catches 239 yards 1 TD). We're talking about our lack of Canadian depth at WR, it's not odd that I would lament the missed opportunity. I sure hope nobodies nose is out of joint over a bit of mild criticism over the weakest spot on our offense. It's not like I'm burning a bomber flag over here.
  3. Sorry sorry, I mean 'appears to be but has not yet been proven to be a dud' over stud.
  4. I agree, and how we went with dud over stud I'll never fully understand.
  5. Exact same article Noeller linked and quoted ton back up the 'head case' claim. Two sides to the same coin there bud.
  6. And yet... "Arguably the lowest moment of Kyle Walters’ tenure as general manager of the Blue Bombers was the decision to select Regina receiver Addison Richards eleventh overall in the 2015 CFL draft over Simon Fraser’s Lemar Durant. Durant, later selected eighteenth overall by the Stampeders, has recorded 572 receiving yards and four touchdowns through two seasons in Calgary, by far the most of any receiver selected in the 2015 CFL draft. The Simon Fraser product also had a strong Grey Cup game, grabbing four passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. Had the Stampeders won, Durant would have been the front-runner to be named the game’s Most Valuable Canadian. Richards, to date, may be the first receiver in CFL history who has recorded more career drops (2) than receptions (1). The Regina product has never started a game and does not play on special teams, meaning he often doesn’t see the field during games. For a league that allows teams to dress only 44 players, using a roster spot on a player who fails to reach the field is a serious competitive disadvantage."
  7. Lemar's uncle has one thing right... Durant's alleged attitude was just another possible explanation for his stock dropping prior to the draft that many adopted as fact. More likely than anything, it was the NFL that chased teams off because Durant was the WR with the best chance to make it - he was that good. CGY could afford to take a flyer, and were probably doing backflips when Durant fell to them. I'm no expert or anything, but I did go to elementary school with Joe Poplawski's kids, so you know, we're pretty tight and I know a great Canadian receiver when I see one
  8. Richards needs to **** or get off the pot. Sure, you can measure success in a wide variety of ways... but if Addison Richards' goal is to make a CFL roster and contibute to that team's success... then thus far he has been a failure. His ship hasn't sailed yet though. He's just a popular target because of who was left on the board after he was taken... Daryl Waud, Lemar Durant, Shaq Murray-Lawerence... even Manitoba boy and recently coveted FA Kienan LaFrance was taken in the 6th round when Richards went in the 2nd. I know the draft is a crap shoot and every GM has iffy picks. Some are just more egregious than others after some reflection.
  9. I could handle seeing the ratio reduced by one starter. I like seeing Canadians play too, but it's hardly a deal breaker... I just like CFL rules. If the NFL switched to CFL rules today I'd have Sunday Ticket by tomorrow.
  10. It's a total ghost town. September 2016 is the last time a topic had double-digit replies. It's a shame, ob used to be my home-page.
  11. It doesn't seem very smart to air your grievances to the press immediately following a loss, but it's a lot more interesting than the usual "we just need to go out there and execute" canned response
  12. Looks okay now... I'm not having trouble accessing chat on my PC

  14. Promote Joe Mack? He is the current Assistant General Manager of Player Personnel
  15. Doesn't January live in Winnipeg year round now? I'm sure I've seen him around town a couple times this past year.
  16. Personally, I watch enough NFL to know I like the CFL better, and more importantly why. There are some pretty significant differences dontcha know! Aww shucks thanks Atomic, but I grew up in the 90s, so thanks but I've got piles of my own participation ribbons, you keep yours.
  17. You guys have convinced me. NFL OT rules are great! So great I think that some other sports should try to imitate them. Golf could take on a more cut throat approach. You and your opponent are tied on the 18th green, but they get to shoot first and sink the ball before you get a chance to putt? ELIMINATED. Enjoy the walk to the parking lot, loser. NHL shootouts could move to sudden death. If the first team to shoot scores, the other team doesn't need a chance to score back. Buncha participation ribbon wearing pansies! They should have just scored during extra minutes. In chess, putting your opponent into checkmate is so tedious. I think simply putting someone into check should be good enough for the win. Yay for CFL OT rules. You get to see both sides of each team compete for the win, and let the best complete team effort claim the top prize. The Pats seemed destined to win this game, I'm fairly sure their D would have stopped the Falcons anyhow, but it would have made their victory that much more decisive and impressive. On the other hand, who wants to watch more NFL football than necessary? That's probably the best part about sudden death OT and the NFL; it ends sooner.
  18. Easy guys if you say his name 3 times in one post I hear he stabs you through your monitor.
  19. The comments section on that page is pure distilled cancer.
  20. I've always preferred the game day thread over chat, and since chat was introduced the game day thread has become pretty barren. I'd probably use chat more, but I stream the games I'm not attending and suffer a 30 second day delay, making chat nothing but spoilers. I could live without chat.
  21. The words 'ball handed off to Brock Ralph' were said far too often
  22. That's true. Crazy to think we were a win away from hosting a playoff game that season.
