Keep your eyes peeled. Last November I snagged a like-new Ibanez hollow bodied 5-string acoustic-electric bass with a hard case (shag carpet interior!) on Kijiji for $400 (might have been $450). Had to drive an hour to pick it up but it was worth it. It's great for practicing unplugged but as soon as someone is rocking out on their 6-string acoustic I get drowned out and need to plug in again. It just doesn't kick out the acoustic sound like I had hoped. I'm convinced only a big stand-up bass could be heard around a campfire.

I just saw Kerwin Bell's name being tossed around on twitter as a candidate for HC in Montreal... he and Kavis Reed were teammates years ago.

Isn't one of our former HC's famously quoted as saying every position you start a rookie at will cost you a win? There is probably a lot of truth to this.

...what's so funny? Roc Carmichael. Brandon Alexander. Brian Walker. All CFL rookies. All played in the secondary. All took turns giving up big plays.

Out of any of our players in our secondary I'd say Loffler is likely the 'worst' in coverage, but he brings a certain presence to the field that makes up for a lot of that (passport, too). Carmichael was victimized early in the season which did nothing to help our passing yards against stats. Tried and tested veterans like Randle and Heath were not the culprits; more likely it's the rookies in the secondary, a passive coordinator, and a middling pass rush that are to blame.

Just jokes. The whole Addison Richards debacle will always stick out like a sore thumb for a lot of fans (and to a lesser extent Brendan Morgan and Garrett Waggoner), but overall it seems like he drafts really well. A good number of Walters' draft picks are still making an impact in the CFL (Derek Jones, Jesse Briggs, Ettore Lattanzio), not to mention our Canadian hogs, All-Star Taylor Loffler, and the emerging talent in Trent Corney. If not for a couple suspect picks (and they were suspect at the time) he'd be an A++ draft manager. I've got no major complaints, but what kind of Bomber fan would I be if I didn't ***** and moan about the past from time to time?

Walters is a savvy GM, I have faith he can secure a trade that will allow us to accomplish both.

I'd take Tim Burke back as DC. I don't think anyone can question his abilities as a defensive coordinator. We're a few years removed from the season of new lows... surely he's snapped out of his thousand yard stare and gotten his head back in the game by now. Would he want to try and resurrect his career here, though? Assuming he even wants to? I'm actually a little surprised he hasn't resurfaced yet.

I agree, totally. In the same way I agree you gotta put two hands the ball at a time like that. Funny thing... they both made really dumb moves, but I'd bet Jorden will get a chance to redeem himself before McDaniel ever finds himself in another Grey Cup game.

I think McDaniel is getting unduly roasted for his comments. It's wrong to criticize your teammates publicly, but it doesn't make him any less right. “It’s a stupid play to be real. I mean ****, we were inside the 15 up eight with a chance to at least get a field goal. What are you doing? We talked all game about putting two hands on the ball. What are you doing? It’s a stupid play,” McDaniel said. “You can talk all you want about doing this, doing that. It’s a dumb play. Stupid football loses games.” Between Jorden coughing up the ball and Bo Levi forcing passes into double coverage, stupid football did lose them the game. Then, 15 minutes later, in what could very well be his last season and therefor his last shot at a cup, McDaniel threw aside the usual cliches and foolishly told the truth to people who profit from this sort of drama. Dumb, but true. If McDaniel doesn't make it to next season it will be because he's getting old and spends too much time in the tub, not because he called stupid football stupid.

Because those aren't the only players 'lining up to play here', and it improves our odds of retaining worthwhile players when their typically 1 or 2 year contracts expire?
