Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Then I don't see it being a problem at all. The recovery was closer to having a vasectomy than having an ACL tear. And I my athleticism is being pretty good on a low level slow pitch team.

Not a doc but I've had ACL surgery twice and meniscus surgery once. Meniscus recovery was a walk in the park. I had a bucket handle tear.

And 2 moves to the d line. Thomas out and Ceresna in. Both lines will be vastly improved. If you subscribe to the notion that teams are only as good as their lines, you're loving this. Receivers vastly improved with Tim White and Tommy Nield Running back status quo (great) QB. Zach is Zach. He will likely thrive with the overall talent built around him. But it might be nice to get a good backup. Linebackers status quo (should be fine but obviously would be nice to be better) DBs should be just as good if not better with Moxey Special teams we are status quo (good) It should be a great year.

Wasn't there a bonus of 75k? Or can they apply that to last year's SMS?

Yeah White not necessarily without faults. But he should come in and be a more of a legit number 1 guy. Last year we came in with many 2-3 guys hoping that we didn't need a top flight guy and it failed. I don't think there was anyone out there that would be as impact of a signing, so we needed this.

I like the idea of Robustelli or Eberhardt as up and comers to add to the American group. Could be a big reward. Still think we could and should improve our Canadian receivers with Brissett.

Yep assuming everyone is healthy coming out of camp, that's better than Wheatfall/Demski and a hobbled Schoen we had our of camp last year.

Agree. I'm looking for guys that are taking the next step. I think Brissett is one of those

Yeah which I don't think we have in house. Unless you think Wheatfall has any more to give. Who do you like from the league free agent list? All 3 are a meh. Willie in a rotational role but I don't think he'd play for that kind of money.

Looking at the BB free agent list...I'm not sure there's anyone left we really NEED to sign. Is there anyone who you think we should sign? Successful offseason thus far. Time to start looking at other teams' free agents IMO. I'm still thinking Brissett from Toronto would be a great add.

That's awesome. The existing ones were starting to have problems. Glad they are on top of this

Not sure about the center thing. I think that just helps our overall performance. I agree tho that Wallace is the guy that will need to take a step or he will be the 6th o lineman. LG could be primarily an American position this year

We needed to do something with that o-line. Hopefully Tui steps up.

I like Justin Hardy. Consistent 1000 yard guy. How about someone like Dejon Brissett? Big target, Canadian, makes a lot of plays. Nearly 1000 yards last year. Seems like a good fit for Zach. Hardy, Demski and Brissett play the slots. Wilson plays WR where he seems to excel. Clercius plays the forgotten WR spot. Then you have 4 Canadians in skilled positions which will let you play more Americans on the OL and protect our QB. Have Cobb, Corcoran and a Canadian OL to back up.

Wilson and Lawson no-brainer signings. Very good players that shouldn't break the bank.

'22 you are obviously going to run it back given you just won a GC. '23 you were a random Chad Kelly away from winning the GC so I could see running it back. '24 You just lost a close one against Montreal. But cracks are starting to form. '25 you absolutely **** the bed against the Argos in the grey Cup. That should have been an indication it was time to shake things up. Instead we brought everyone back again minus Lawler and signed some questionable FAs. Obviously we could have made much better long term improvements in that entire duration. Don't get me wrong. I just think how we went into this year was inexcusable.

Permission to talk: Is O'Shea leaving?
It's an idea. I'd try to bring an American on to join that backfield.

Grey Cup GDT - Riders vs Als
I guess I'm used to Bomber home games where the home team is insanely loud. I guess they aren't selling many tickets in Regina so that might have been a home game feel for them.

Bingo. It is a miracle we did anything this year with the lines we had. Montreal got away with their paltry d line against us. But tonight it really showed how deficient they were Well when you compare them with the 8 fans Montreal brought, yeah. Didn't seem like Bomber fans cared enough to pick up the slack. It wasn't particularly loud.

Permission to talk: Is O'Shea leaving?
I was at the point where I was fine either way. But now that Osh is back I hope he takes his own advice and learns from this past season. You can't just roll with the same guys forever. Vets are good, but they can't be the washed up, banged up, career is up kind. This offseason will be very telling.

Kind of want to sell my Grey Cup tickets now. Montreal v Sask. Gross

Looks like a catch to me. BC absolutely **** the bed. Traditionally bad defense. Rourke celebrating the victory too soon on his last TD. Now they need a miracle

To be fair the Bomber o-line plays until the whistle as well. It's just that it's the whistle to blow the play in.
