  1. I'm pretty sure it did go down before but popped back up.
  2. The Bombers are making a "significant" football announcement at 11am. Lawless & Penton are thinking it's an extension for Willy.
  3. Rampage's situation was much worse. He ended being charged with 2 felonies & 4 misdemeanors after hitting a few cars & taking police on a chase against traffic. He plead down to 1 felony & 1 misdemeanor & got community service (to give you an idea what Jones is facing). One of the people he hit was a pregnant woman who ended up suing him (she dismissed the case less than a year later so they may have settled out of court). The medical evidence showed that her miscarriage was not related to the accident though.
  4. The public loves a comeback but usually with a guy they want to root for... Jones has never been that guy. He gets booed a lot because he comes off as fake. He should take Chael Sonnen's advice and embrace the heel role. The comeback fight could be great... if it's against the right person. Daniel Cormier has replaced him against Anthony Johnson next month and I'm sure the UFC is hoping DC does not win. The Jones/Cormier fight was so one-sided that I don't know too many people who would be interested in a rematch. Yes, UFC fighters are considered independant contractors. One way the UFC could potentially address this would be to structure it like they do their new Reebok sponsorship deal. 1-5 fights = 1 day orientation, 6-10 fights = PR/Stress management, 11 fights and up, money management. It would allow them to focus the training where it was most needed. Guys in the 1st tier usually are on the fight pass prelims so they are seen by very few people and are out of the UFC before anyone really knows their name but they still need to know what's expected of them. 2nd tier guys are getting a bit of a name so they'll have to learn how to deal with the attention. 3rd tier guys are now (usually) making much better money and all the trappings that come with it.
  5. Reebok has now terminated their contract with Jones. 2nd major endorsement deal cancelled in 8 months for him (Nike was the 1st). http://mmajunkie.com/2015/04/reebok-terminates-sponsorship-of-ex-ufc-champ-jon-jones
  6. It might be harder for the UFC to implement something like that. The average "major" mma career (Bellator or UFC) is only 1.5 years or 3-4 fights & most of their roster doesn't make anywhere near enough money that they have trouble managing it all. By the time they put the fighters through some life skills training, most of them would have already washed out of the UFC.
  7. Diaz got suspended from a commission though not the UFC. There might still be more fallout for Jones on top of what the UFC has done, he wasn't finished dealing with the NSAC about the press conference brawl with Cormier. NSAC put out a release saying they were monitoring the latest incident closely. Rampage did get away with a very similar situation, but his was a one-time incident while this was strike 3 (at minimum) for Jones. Rampage should have been punished for it though (IMO).
  8. It will be interesting to see how the UFC handles this latest situation. I'm amazed they haven't cancelled his upcoming fight yet.
  9. I didn't see Vega's release coming but I'm a bit surprised it took this long for Morley.
  10. no kidding. The Jets are in big danger of becoming the Riders of the NHL and that's not a compliment. Agreed. I was in Brandon for the Wheat Kings playoff game on Saturday and was stunned to hear the True North shout out during the anthem. I get it during Jets games (although the circle jerk the fans give themselves afterwards is a different matter) but it's weird to hear it at other events completely unrelated to TNSE.
  11. Mr Holmes has Ian McKellen as an elderly Sherlock Holmes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJwgItmobFE Black Mass is a movie about Whitey Bulger (Jack Nicholson's character in The Departed was based on him), a notorious Boston gangster. Johnny Depp plays Bulger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDVrTfFgzPk Last Witch Hunter is a Vin Diesel movie (so expectations are not high) as an immortal witch hunter trying to save the world. Michael Caine, Elijah Wood & Rose Leslie (Ygritte from Game of Thrones) co-star. There hasn't been a trailer released yet.
  12. Paul blart isn't even on the kodi list, never mind one I'd pay to see. My list goes from May to December, so there are quite a few, even ones I don't have high expectations for. I'm a movie junkie and a geek so I'm almost forced to go! movies I'm interested in are: Avengers, mad max, ant man, terminator, fantastic four, star wars, Jurassic world, spectre (bond movie), Mr Holmes, southpaw, mission impossible, straight outta Compton, black mass, and last witch Hunter.
  13. Chiarelli has been given Lowe's spot AND MacTavish's!
  14. The same could have been said about Chevy until this season. Just saying though, not trying to compare the two because clearly Chevy had a plan & stuck to it while MacT has been ... well I have no idea what that guy has been doing!
  15. Obi Wan was more known for his diplomatic skills (hence the nickname The Negotiator) than his swordsmanship or force skills.
  16. Did he? Or did Obi Wan take a dive? Obi Wan basically stopped fighting once he saw Luke was watching, and turned off his light saber as Vader took his final swing. Vader didn't seem to know what was going on either as he kicks Obi Wan's cloak around almost to see where the hell he went. It was a stalemate up until that point.
  17. Correct, one of many edits he made after A New Hope came out & was a hit.
  18. Sucks to be the teams that tanked to try to land that pick.
  19. I watched it again & looked for screen caps and now I'm on the side of it not being a skull. Just the burnt up shell of his helmet. Here's a screen cap I found:
  20. Not all Jedi bodies dissappear though (Qui-Gon's didn't in Phantom Menace). Obi Wan & Yoda did because they "became one with the force" (a trick they learn from Qui-Gon ironically). It looked like a skull to me on 1st glance but I've only watched it once.
  21. SOOOO pumped for this movie after seeing that.

  23. To me, the biggest thing ECW did for wrestling that still stands is giving guys that didn't fit Vince's mold a chance to make it in North America. 20 years ago, a guy like Daniel Bryan would have had a great indy career or would have worked in Japan (neither of which is a horrible thing, just harder for the fans to follow).
