Greg "The" Peach Signs with Bombers, Freddie Harris Released

I am just curious to know why this team hates Goltz so much. Out of the three has the best physical skillset (obviously you need more than that) but he also provides a lot more flexibility in the game plan. Boltus possesses a similar skillset and they just brought him in, yet Goltz doesn't get any love. Tin Foily time, they're trying hard to distance themselves from Joe Mack to curry favour with the unruly masses. -
are we putting more of the blame on the offense then? How about a dominant defense that gave up 2 seperate big play touchdowns? How about a blocked kick for a TD? There were lots of issues for Winnipeg that day. Hell the way the game started it looked like it might be a short day for the bombers. 3 times early the bombers moved into field goal range but rather than being up 9-1 they were up 4-1. Gotta admit that it's a totally different game with one score vs. the other. The real shame was 2002 having Stegall hurt before the playoffs and Roberts get hurt on the first play of the west final. That's your 2 most dangerous weapons out of a game that you lost by 3 points.

Denmark has been one of the better receivers for the team this year, yes it's not a very high bar we're setting but it is what it is.
-
I wouldn't want WIlliams here because of this crap he's pulled with his contract. I don't care how talented he is if you don't honour your contract to hell with you.

at this point I've stopped caring what guys get brought in, I just want to see some wins already. -
wasn't a strong arm but it was good enough, fast enough to run when he needed to, certainly a lot faster than the likes of Ray or Calvillo right now. Lots of ints sure but a hell of a lot more TDs and a hell of a lot of wins in his time as a bomber qb. When speaking of receivers just think about 2002 for a while... Jones through 46 tds, almost enough for a record, Stegall had 23 but one was from Barnes so 22 from Jones, that still leaves 24 tds for Jones, only Calvillo threw more than 24 tds in 2002, that's a staggering number. even without his top receiver Jones was still top 2 in td passes. Not to mention that Charles Roberts was in double digits in touchdowns as well. People maybe forget what happened to his shoulder in his last bit of time here. It was damaged and never able to recover properly. It's also worth pointing out that in Calgary he did have some success, the problem was that he was brought in by Dunigan and when he was fired they wanted to turn the page completely and with Jones being one of Dunigans moves he had to go to make way for Burris. Bottom line people who don't think Khari was a very good to great qb are morons.

Lucky for the Argos it's only 6 weeks. Wouldn't want to be heading into the playoffs with a raw qb.
-
Khari Jones was a damned good qb, a damned good qb. Yeah Stegall had huge numbers, but he didn't get those lofty totals with any other qb throwing him the ball. As always it's a two way street with qbs and receivers. Great qbs always have great receivers because they throw them passes that let them make plays. Khari knew that if the safety was blitzing that Stegall or Bruce or someone would be open deep and he put the ball up for them to make a play on it. Yeah he threw a lot of ints, but a lot of that was simply putting a ball up and letting the receivers make a play and it wound up scoring more touchdowns than ints. It's a great shame that he never had a top notch offensive line to play behind and that it caused his shoulder to be buggered up and shorten his career. A real leader on the field too. I had thought that after this much time people would have stopped this nonsense about him being carried by his receivers when they looked back at the play from the position since he was here and what Khari accomplished.

ehh seems like they're just grabbing anyone and everyone with some experience at this point. -
but if the db had made a tackle on Milt no one would be talking about that play call at all.
-
Seriously you necroed a thread just for that?
-
That's all I want from the season at this point, go in and beat the riders and kick the ant hill and watch the ants scurry about.
-
probably not if his first football experience was with Detroit.
-
Kohlert and Etienne have made as many plays as guys like Doug PIerce or Clarence Denmark have this year and Watson next to Edwards is probably the best receiver on the team anyway so I see no problems using 3 NI receivers.
-
I'm not going to disagree with your overall sentiments, but is this because they didn't have faith in the kicker or because they (in Lapos case moreso, it's pretty clear Burke didn't like Palardy) had so much faith in the defense that they preferred to try and pin teams deep?
-
SIgning Boatman at the time the Bombers did was a fine move, they had injuries, they needed bodies, keeping him in the lineup though... my god why?
-
don't feed the trolls.
-
move quickly and pick up deangelis! then you can still curse the stupid players on your team.
-
I think you are guilty of remember Hefney from 2 or 3 or 4 years ago moreso than last year. Hefney used to be real damned good but last year cracks appeared in his game. I have no problems saying Washington has been as good this year as Hefney was last year. You are of course correct that Hall is getting off easy and should have had his ass stapled to the bench for at least part of the game but that's neither here nor there when talking about Hefney. Bottom line Washington was taking his spot at halfback, Hefney could have stayed here by switching to SAM but he didn't want to and as a result he was cut.

and it's a pass that Buck Pierce has been throwing right to the DBs are whole lot in the last 2 seasons.

meh this team asks receivers to block a lot when they are not suited to it. There is a lot of misusing players going on. It goes back to the lack of identity this team has. They've been trying to run things that they aren't suited for rather than tailoring things to what they actually do well for a long time now. Running plays like Montreal does works great when you have Richardson and Green as your slotbacks, not so much when it's Edwards and Denmark.Perhaps but I thought it was pretty common depending on the play. yeah if you're not catching a pass you should be blocking but there's some guys, like Cory Watson who you can realistically ask to block close to the LOS regularly and then there's guys like Edwards and Denmark who don't excel at that. Too many guys like that on this team so the choices are either get the kind of player who can do it, or change the offense so it's not a requirement that they have to do it all the time.

No but it is his job to get the players ready to play and put them in positions to succeed. Do you see any of that happening?
-
He's underseige all the time because he does nothing to make the other team stop blitzing. Hit a few big plays on em and they'll stop sending the house. Now do we have guys in the right place to take advantage of that? You gotta think that all those professional coaches we have recognize what's going on and put guys in positions to counter it right? right?
