How long has he been saying that if guys don't perform they'll be gone? How many non injury related moves has he made? Time to stop saying that and actually doing something about it. No wonder the team isn't listening, they know there's no consequences and it's just a lot of hot air.

No tell me
-
the media in this town seems to only like good guys. Can't be hard on buck he's a good guy, can't be hard on burke, he's a good guy. Joe Mack though? What an ass, rip him to pieces even after he's been fired. Taman was a good guy... don't remember them being nice to him... Oh, and Mack sucks. are you kidding? the media loved Taman cause he told them everything.

Every offence in pro football involves receivers and QB's making reads...most high school offences do too. If the corner takes a 10 yard drop into his zone, why would the #1 receiver run a 10 yard hook, even if that's the call? The whole game is about reading and adjusting. I understand this. What it sounded like was that Crowton was trying to scheme for every possible defence... this must have involved multiple reads/options as opposed to two or three, just a thought... what other excuse do we have for receivers 'running the wrong routes'...? Everyone all of a sudden can't play football? honestly having receivers and qbs both make reads isn't a bad idea, I just think that with too many rookie qbs and a lot of inexperience at receivers it was probably too much for the group of people there. With a well established qb and a real veteran group of receivers that's been around for a long time it might have worked well. Khari and MIlt always said one of the reasons they worked so well together is that they saw the same things in a defense and made the adjustment. I don't see this team able to do that.

Oh Troy why do you even try?

I heard that and started wondering... if they sign Prechea Rodqiguez I will LOL

You remember back in 07 when teams started to only rush 2 guys because Glenn knew where to go before the snap and got the ball there before anyone could touch him? Compare that to how PIerce plays.

Agreed in hindsight maybe Burke should have been the first to go but its a bit late now. The problem is that no GM gets to fire 2 head coaches within a year, that's a terrible indictment of their ability to put a head man in place. Now that they hit the nuke button though finish the job, clear out all the trash.
-
and people think we should keep Burke for the rest of the season...
-
Like Matthews last year? Or Denmark in his rookie year? I don't think this is a lack of talent, this is a lack of putting talent in positions to succeed. JBR is right, this team is the easiest to defend that I have ever seen. Blitz and you stop the offense. Doesn't even have to be disguised, the qbs can't make plays against it.
-
but a bad coaching choice makes everything look worse.
-
considering how similar it looks to what Hamilton did last year it's Creehans scheme. Remember when the bombers played man coverage? Now all we're doing it seems is playing the softest zone in football.

you can tell he knows it by all the excuse making he's done since Mack was fired. The whole "crowton is picking qbs" to "doing the best with that I have" and all the rest. He's a dead man walking desperately trying to save his own hide while the team crumbles around him. How long until the players give up completely if they haven't already? How ugly is THAT going to be? Wait, you think they haven't? well it's sort of a scary thought, but what if they haven't?
-
well anderson for one hasn't done anything when he has gone in, doug pierce hasn't taken the next step like he was expected to either, if guys like that aren't taking advantage of their opportunities then you have to bring in new people who might.

but at least Elliott and Brink had shown that they could win with this team. Hell Elliott showed a lot of good things in this offense compared to everyone else who has done the job the last few seasons. Burke didn't make the right choice and that's on him. Part of being a good coach is making those correct calls evaluating players. It was a big failing of Jim Daley and apparently Burke falls in the same category.
-
Yes there is. He's certainly not the best coach of all time, but the group that's been given to him to lead is an absolute dumpster fire. Mack left him with little talent to work with, and Burke has made it worse by not surrounding himself with good coordinators. That's a recipe for a train wreck season. Does Burke have any less talent than Mike Kelly did? Does he have less then Reinbold did? To me Burkes performance is less about what he's got to work with on the roster and everything to do with how out of his element he is as a head coach. The team got tremendously worse as soon as he took over, he can't make a decision to save his life, he horribly misjudged his preferences at quarterback (why do we all blame Mack when the coaches are the ones who ran Elliott out of town and expressed their love of Pierce) Burke is just a terrible head coach and I don't think he'd win with any roster in this league.
-
and if I hear Burke complain about not having a qb I'll lose it. He ran out guys who at least showed they could win with this bunch.
-
Wiecek doesn't know enough for me to take what he writes seriously.
-
I normally agree with you but I've had it with the lack of accountability for Burke. No one seems to be taking him to task for the utter crap we've witnessed in his time as head coach. Hell there is no way he should have been hired based on last season let alone given the entire year this year yet hardly anyone is holding his feet over the fire for it. We went from a competitive team that played not to lose with Lapolice to a team that more often than not just rolled over and died with Burke. That's not all on the talent because a lot of it is the same talent. Now either Lapo was a great head coach or Burke is just that bad and I don't think Lapo is that great of a head coach.
-
I'm convinced of it, though I'd say that DIckenson is a quality coach, he's shown it everywhere else he's been so I'm fine keeping him, the rest of them though.... I dunno no one on this team has really taken a step up from when they first arrived.
-
worth noting that as little as 2 weeks ago everyone was convinced woods was no better than any other returner we've seen.
-
Mike Kelly was a bigger problem as GM than he was as a head coach. As a head coach he might have been successful to be honest, it was just the OC and GM roles he failed so hard in.
-
and Boatman is one of those players cut adrift from another team that people scream they wanted Mack to sign too. Honestly though I want to see what the o-line looks like with a different guy coaching them. As much as I can tell from watching on TV I haven't seen DelMonaco make anyone better in that position in his time here. Having had the chance to watch Calgary's OL (live) twice this year, I can say that there is an OL that dictates the flow of the game. Ours isn't close to doing that. And why can't ours? They're all big athletic guys (this was Macks preference for every position, big and athletic) so why aren't these big strong men able to simply move people out of the way?
