Well yeah but Eakins not have Connor McJesus or a couple of the D-men they got now. Sekera who has had a poor start to the season (Eakins had Petry who is a comparable player, maybe even better but I'm a bit of a Petry fan) Gryba who is at best a bottom pairing guy and Reinhart (been hurt a lot of the season) are the defensive changes. Yes McDavid is a whole different animal but honestly it's not the difference in players. Eakins just ******* sucked and made people worse.

It's not a point for screwing up. It's a point for getting the ball into or through the endzone. Making the field goal just has a bigger reward is all.

Same thing with the Oilers, the veterans on the team absolutely suck ass. The young players are the only thing worth a damn on that team. Nurse and Draisaitl stepped up nicely and holy crap is McDavid good. That kid can hockey. Dangerous every time he touched the puck and on the tying goal absolutely clowned Subban along the boards. Subban really can't be losing physical battles on the boards to 18 year old players.

This is the biggest thing to me. Our receivers aren't good enough, we can't seem to find an impact player on the opposite side of Westerman on the DL, the OL has been changing players constantly for the entire time Walters has been here. We've had a bunch of good rbs but none that have really grabbed the job by the balls and taken it. For my money this roster just flat out isn't good enough to start blaming the coach.

Good to see after all that a loony tune can still walk into Parliament and start shooting people. All I know is it's likely Harper's fault...................... It's not Harpers fault, he was hiding in a closet the whole time!

You really think a female is best for the Conservtives? There is still too much sexism I think and the base of the party (Alberta) has had some issues with female party leaders lately that likely stir up all sorts of sexist attitudes.

He is a plus player so far this year. Oilers under Eakins were a big minus team so a guy not scoring much is going to have a minus rating. Every oiler racked up big minuses plus minus is a reflection of a team not a player

The only time Yakupov was really bad was when Eakins was coaching. He did lead rookies in goals (and the Oilers) and tied in rookie points the lockout year with Kreuger and he finished strongly after Eakins was fired. Yeah he is working really well with McDavid but it's not like he was totally useless before that, excepting with all time bad head coach Dallas Eakins.

Yeah with Willy it was always 6-8 weeks minimum. That's what they said and it never changed. Best case 2 months but everyone knew that it wasn't going to be.

Couple of questions I'd like to ask the new stud. 1. Can you bring all of your receivers with you? 2. Are you going to do anything like whatever the last guy did to get cut? I'd settle for just #9

3 wins in a row now and the teams they lost to are still the top 3 teams in the conference. Tied for 9th but only a couple points back of 4th in the west. This is why you don't freak out about early losses to tough teams. Who knows where they will wind up finishing this season, but compared to the last two seasons where they were out of the playoffs basically by Halloween this year is much different.

And I am looking at points in the standings, goals for, goals against... all signs of progress to someone capable of looking at more than where someone finished. It is quite clear that there was progress made before Eakins was hired. Then he took a better on paper roster and got worse finishes than before he arrived including worse goals for and against. Try reading and see what the point is. You have to actually understand the situation before you can discuss it, but apparently your level of assessment begins and ends with what position a team drafted in. Cry me a river....the stats that count are W's and L's............they are on pace for a 55 point season...ya, I know it's early but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see them finish in the bottom 5 again...........even with a very good (in my opinion) coach. Progress my azz. But you are again missing the point, the progress I speak of was before Eakins. Eakins arrested that and started them on regression. The lockout year they were sitting in a playoff position at the trade deadline before falling off the pace in the final weeks. Doesn't that sound like normal progress for a rebuilding team? First couple years bad then make progress and become a team in the mix until the end. But then Eakins was hired and it all got set back. Throw in Craig McTavish completely botching situations like the one with Petry and you start to see why they were in the lottery for McDavid. Pace right now is irrelevant. They lost to teams sitting near the top of the standings and are coming off back to back wins on division rivals. You want to jump the gun after 6 games go right ahead, but this Oilers team is a lot different than it was last year or the year before or the one before that or the one before that and watching the games shows it very clearly.

It's so stupid that teams have started doing that now. Just so petty. They should be happy that they don't have to pay fired people never mind trying to milk draft picks out of the team hiring these people. It goes against the spirit of the rule. Compensation for hiring people that teams want to keep makes 100% sense, draft picks for fired people totally ridiculous.
