  2. Brutal drop. Just brutal. Johnson fits right into that Redblack offence.
  3. Don't think anyone disputes that Durie's a good football player. His ability to convert high-percentage throws into good yardage makes him an ideal target for Ray.
  4. I was anticipating a 10-7 snorefest so I gotta admit I'm pretty happy with how entertaining this game has turned out to be.
  5. Is that the Mosaic Field boo-birds I hear? Nice breakdown on the fake field goal by Lapo. Great looking play.
  6. Move, Brack, get out the way, get out the way, Brack, get out the way.
  7. Man those Double Green uniforms are brutal.
  8. Crompton starting to look less like a guy who had no training camp and more like a real starter here.
  9. Weird to see the Stamps' backup QB wearing Doug Flutie's distinctive #20.
  10. Rooting for Ottawa so hard that I will even type their name the stupid way they prefer. Go REDBLACKS!
  11. Would rather listen to Wally talk about his career than listen to Rod Black talk about the game, so didn't bother me. Best Black line so far: "It says volumes that the defences are starting strong, shutting out teams, and that offences are adjusting." That hitch screen on 2nd and 1 is an awful play call. Slow-developing high-risk play with the cornerback close on the line ... Als got lucky there that the Stampeder tackling was so bad.
  12. Als starting to bring it. TD followed by a Stamps 2-and-out. Crompton looked pretty good on the TD drive.
  13. Good lord, you look at the CFL passing stats and you see Ray topping the passing yardage list by a couple hundred yards over Willy, no surprise there ... but then you look at the receiving stats and you see that the only receiver the Argos have in the top 30 is Chad Owens. Ray does his thing no matter who's in the lineup. Amazing.
  14. Still scoreless eight minutes in. Everyone looks out of sync. This could be a real dog of a game.
  15. I don't know if your tendency breakers should ever become tendencies.
  16. The other day I was parking at a shopping mall here in Seattle. I saw a Jeep that had two bumper stickers: One was about membership in the National Tactical Officers Association. This is a training association for tactical cops -- SWAT and the like. The second bumper sticker is one that's commonly available on the Internet. It says in English and Arabic "keep back 100 meters or you will be shot." Stickers like it were used in Iraq. I can't be certain about what the Jeep's owner meant by putting that bumper sticker on his vehicle. Maybe they just hate tailgaters. But I sure don't want a cop with a "keep 100 meters back or die" mindset doing policing around me.
  17. I would rather live through a century of continuous Roughrider Grey Cup championships than see a single Toronto Stanley Cup. Leaf fans are way more insufferable than Roughrider fans.
  18. My favorite part of this play is how Willy used the umpire as a downfield blocker on that play, it looked very deliberate the way he made the last cut before hitting the endzone.
  19. At some point sports reporting turned into sports gossip reporting. There's too many news outlets trying to report on too little news. Try going to the slam sports homepage and finding actual game results or sports stories. It's all who-said-what and who's-going-bankrupt and trolling about contentious stuff. It's all total ****, but I guess that's what gets the page views.
  20. Rogers Center is too small for the NFL. Toronto would have to build a new football-only stadium to house a team.
  21. Happy for the people of Buffalo. They support their team like crazy and deserve to have it long-term.
  22. Man, just reading that I can close my eyes and see that exact play. Heartbreaking.
  23. For what it's worth, I remember hearing the whistle on my crappy stream, so TSN had the field mic'd up right to catch it. It's strange TSN did not play an audio replay of it during the broadcast although Cuthbert and Suitor reported that their producers confirmed there was a whistle on the play. Gotta confirm that tonight with USA's youtubes...
  24. You're really underselling Durant's smarts. Look at his numbers over his career, his TD:INT ratio has gotten better each year he's been in the league, especially during the last few years. His decision-making has really improved. He's clearly not just getting by on his physical tools. I think it's really tough to forecast player development. Willy does a ton of great stuff already, he escapes pressure, he finds the open man, but he also throws a ton of picks and he's got this weird obsession with questionable corner-route throws in the red zone. Is he ever going to clean up those parts of his game? Who can say? I don't think I'd trade Willy for Durant straight-up either, because I'm an optimist and I think that Willy will clean up the messy parts of his game, and that we'll get more good years out of Willy than we would out of Durant. But I think Durant is a great QB in this league and should be respected as such.
  25. Dude I love Willy but this is crazy talk. Durant was nearly perfect in the playoffs last year -- I think he went 10:1 in TDS:picks.
