  1. What separates an every-down player from a 25-snap-a-game player? Is it just raw endurance?
  2. I think the early version of the replay rules we had were okay -- a limited number of challenges and a limited number of things that could be challenged -- ball placement, catch/no catch, fumble timing, etc. It's the pass interference review that drives me crazy. It's killing the pace of the game. Every contested play in the endzone is challenged now and the outcome is a coin flip. I'd rather see occasional bad calls than see receivers and DBs waiting around to celebrate a big play.
  3. My suspicion is that the vast majority of the 78% who don't support Trump currently will not migrate to him as their candidates fall, and so he won't come anywhere near the GOP nomination. A third party run from him would be hilarious. Bring it on. A Trump schism would look as good on the Republicans as an 0-18 season would look on the Roughriders.
  4. I got a question for people who know football: So you're a DC and you're facing a rookie QB. You want to force him to throw from the pocket. What kinds of defences do you call to do that? Say you're the rookie QB operating against that defence. What opportunities are going to open up when the D is concentrated on keeping you bottled up?
  5. So how does Casey Creehan adjust his game plan if Marve starts? I guess the goal is to make Marve throw from the pocket, right? Do you tell the DE to always keep contain on the option instead of crashing the RB?
  6. Because mentioning a football player's alma mater is something that is just never done on football broadcasts... It's all about Southern Ontario. Player after player after player. Who gives a ****. ...their families, friends, classmates, coaches...

  8. Secret Railroad or gtfo. Also Battle of the Planets.
  9. Wow, Montreal 46 has some giddyup for a Canadian fullback.
  10. That's the best tempo offence I've seen in awhile. Love Ellingson blocking downfield for Walker. Blew up his guy.
  11. Rookies gonna rookie. I'm rooting for Sam because I think gay kids benefit from having prominent representation, but yeah, don't put him under a microscope like that when he's not really doing anything special.
  12. Good lord those signature redblack unis are ugly.
  13. That's a huge bummer about Heenan. I always root for CFL alums, no matter what team they come from.
  14. I really love Stade Molson. It's a beautiful place to watch a football game.
  15. Very curious to see if Chad Simpson is still The Most Frustrating Running Back.
  16. I'm ordinarily super cynical about Harper but I do get warm and fuzzies for home when the TSN cameras show him sitting in the crowd at a Redblacks game. Funny, we didn't start getting presidential shutdowns in Seattle until Obama was in office. For some reason, GWB didn't ever come here
  17. I would much rather watch the 2015 Roughriders than the 2013 Bombers.
  18. Bridge didn't look good at all. Not capable of being a starting CFL qb. I guess Higgins felt it was better to bring Cato back. He sure made the right choice. Oh, definitely. I just wonder how Bridge beat out Cato in the first place.
  19. Garage Band is a helluva product for its niche. I don't think there's a non-Mac GB equivalent. That's the only thing I can think of...
  20. The thing I don't get is how Cato leapfrogged Bridge. Higgins cut Cato and kept Bridge but suddenly it was Cato starting. Cato must have had a heck of a great practice that week...
  21. yeah, I don't think it's a super tough decision between 2014 Durant and 2014 Willy. On one hand, you've got a proven championship-calibre QB who can do some things better than any other CFL QB, who has never suffered a serious injury, and who should have a number of years left on his odometer. On the other hand you've got a promising guy who has won a couple games and looked decent doing it.
  22. Yeah, it was third down and there were more than 10 seconds left in the game when they put the ball into play. If they'd just downed the ball the clock would've stopped on change of possession and Montreal would've had a play or two on O. And it'd be tough to burn ten seconds just running around in the backfield, never mind the injury risk to BLM. So it was funny-looking but I can't think of a better thing for them to have done. Weirdly, the CFL stats for the game don't include that play.
  23. To be fair every time he dove he was diving for the first down. Love it. Naw, near the end of the second quarter he was like 5 yards beyond the first down when he dove (into Eliminian!)
