  1. If the riders lose on a failed 3rd and short again I'll be soooo happy.
  2. Doubt they're too concerned, Mike Reilly is Mike Reilly and people seem to think highly of James Franklin
  3. Calling Carter a locker room cancer is an insult to all other players considered a locker room cancer
  4. That's ******* disgraceful. Throwing beer at anyone is unacceptable. That's why I bring a bunch of dead batteries with me.
  5. Did Roosevelt get a big enough signing bonus to earn a trade?
  6. He's a DB. We have an excess of talented DB's. Wonder where he's going
  7. QB's not a big problem for them, Canadian talent is. They'd be insane to trade for Willy
  8. 10-man practice squad..32-man practice squad. Same size.
  9. If we continue to struggle to score anything but field goals, wonder if we see Willy get a series here or there to change the tempo up and throw off the D.
  10. I'm not sure why anyone is demonizing Chris Jones for losing the game. I've been reading riderfans, and it's pretty clear that Jeffrey Orridge was responsible for the riders losing.
  11. As much as I want us to blowout the riders, a last second win on an impossible field goal would absolutely crush their fans into new levels of crippling depression. Your son is onto something
  12. Since my terrible explanations of salary cap management in the other thread don't be seem to be helping anyone, let me try again here. You convert base pay to a "signing bonus" for signing a new contract. Signing bonuses are prorated over the length of the contract, whereas base pay counts only to this year. So these guys took, say, a $10000 pay cut this year, but got a $15000 signing bonus for signing a new contract. So lets say it's a 2 year restructured contract, so the bonus counts as $7500 each year, effectively lowering the players cap hit by $2500, while they get an extra $5000 today. I hope this helps. Again, this is works in the NFL, I have no idea if the CFL does this.
  13. Basically, if you win MOP in 2016, we'll pay you a $30,000 bonus... on March 1 2017.
  14. Performance based bonus' add a variable to the accounting. You need to have cap room available when a player hits them, but if the player is not expected to hit an incentive, you don't want to hold cap space in reserve just in case the player exceeds expectations and wins MOP or has league topping stats. So you structure bonus' to be paid out at a later date so they count against the next years salary cap. Not sure if this is how it works in the CFL, but it is in the NFL. edit: rereading my posts, it kind of comes off that I think I know what I'm talking about. I want to make it clear I have no idea what I'm talking about. That post was supposed to be a question.
  15. I'm not sure exactly how performance based bonuses work in the CFL, but if it's like the NFL performance based bonuses can be deferred to the following seasons salary cap depending on risk assessment on whether the bonus is likely to be achieved or not. So if Nichols or Willy were to play lights out and earn all their possible incentives the cap hit this year could be limited. Curious to hear if that's the case with these numbers. Excellent report from Dunk though, 3downnation is quickly becoming the best CFL news resource out there.
  16. Al's locker room is collapsing. Popp really needs to stop trying to be a coach.
  17. Any sources reporting on this other than an anonymous caller to a post Game show the other week? I want it to be true so much.
  18. Kickers are undervalued by many fans and media types. A clutch kicker can add 1-3 wins to an otherwise average team.
