  1. Did you see the play early in the game where Grigsby stopped before he hit the line of scrimmage and was tackled for a loss? That was absolutely embarassing. At least Cotton was running forward. Hell the play he got dropped hard by Hebert at least he picked up 8 yards first. If that was Grigsby he would have got maybe 3 or 4 cause a guy would have got a hand on him coming through the initial hole. Grigsby went back in during the 4th quarter and actually stopped ******* around going sideways and running tentative. He actually started to make a decision and commit to it and ran with more authority and go figure he made some plays. I question whether he can do that all the time or not, but if he can then good, but if not I like the way Cotton runs better. Overall I think the biggest issue with the running game last night was the play calling. They did very little to actually give the backs a chance until late in the game, but I can not stand a running back who is seemingly afraid of contact. Cotton got flipped back a few times...looked nasty. It seems we still have two distinct 'camps' on this issue. Should be another good week of back and forth entertainment. If you watched Montreal's run game, it was basically the same as ours. Watch any team's running game, no matter who they are. It's mostly straight up, make a block, hit the hole.
  2. At any rate, I'd like to thanks Rids for telling us the whole story.
  3. So much gaseous wisdom today...
  4. Oh, so now it's a societal problem. Then we would drink a lot of beer...
  5. You can really only fully see his "MO" in the last three years as this is truly the only time he has been running the show. He has been quite adept at compiling mid to late round draft picks and these have been decent players. Taman does like to pay for veteran talent but it is hard to argue with his recent level of success. Not to mention some key cogs were already there or were not very hard to acquire. Durant, Labatte, Picard, et. al. It's easier to be a genius GM when the previous regime has already gone through the QB growing pains.
  6. I got 12 year Glenfiddich for my birfday...doesn't taste like toffee. Tastes like pears if I recall correctly. Fruity notes...to be sure
  7. I got 12 year Glenfiddich for my birfday...doesn't taste like toffee.
  8. Precisely. Y'all should peruse the standings all the way back to 2000. You'll find that the teams with the worst records...missed the playoffs...every bloody year.
  9. All ye Scotch lovers with thin wallets...LC is now carrying Grant's Sherry Cask finish (Green Label). 'Tis rather good...
  10. Which is under appreciated...and goes well with beer...
  11. No one ever has cap space...except the Bombers
  12. Wait...there's a new scrap metal division moving into town?
  13. Dressler is 2.5 lbs. too light for our system...Willy's throws would bowl him right over. Sheet is too short by a couple inches...can't survey the field if you can't see past January's butt.
  14. Concerned, very...concerned
  15. The way to beat RR is to keep him off the field. We had way too many two and outs. And drives killed by penalties, whether they be real or phantom ones like the one on Howard that brought back that TD to Bryant. If you give RR that much time with the ball, with a defence going on four days rest, the outcome is inevitable. The other way to beat him is to knock him around & pressure him. He likes to dink & dunk. But only does that if a DL or a LB isn't in his face & he's getting hit. Count his steam boats - he gets rid of the ball in 2 seconds or less most of the time. I fail to see why he wouldn't use as many or more quick plays with pressure in his face.
  16. I'll be very surprised if both Inman and Muamba don't stick in the NFL. The other guys might be coming back.
  17. Cabinets and ice fishing are kind of a big deal around here.
  18. The options are endless when it comes to crafts. Any people that I know who are into making stuff - whatever they can't make - they learn how. https://www.flickr.com/photos/marks_a_lot/14949061245/
  19. Thank you good sir, that's very kind of you. Appreciate the way you always rep country music...even if some of it does truly suck. #almostpop
  20. Straight up, there is no doubt that we have been and still are challenged with smaller gene pool. However, things are improving due to adoption and some new people joining. I don't even know the answer to your question. I've only heard it as an urban legend, same as you. Most likely it came from assumptions that people made.
  21. It's the root system. Weeds have roots that are thicker and more importantly grow deeper. People who water their lawns frequently create poor root systems for their grass. Less frequent waterings encourages the roots to grow deeper in search of moisture, and in times of low precipitation these lawns will be more durable than lawns that are overwatered. Over time a healthy lawn should overtake the weeds. So they say. In theory... Hell, in theory communism works lol Communism definitely works- check out any Hutterite colony. What you see in Russia and China is not and never was Communism, it was Marxism and even so wasn't what Marx had envisioned. My mother-in-law came off a Hutterite colony (wrote a book about it) .... the "boss" and the minister are tyrants, power abusers and very controlling .... if born on a colony ... it is very difficult to leave its sheltered way of life ... few make it when they try Is that the "I am Hutterite" book or the other one? (second title escapes me) There aren't that many of these books around, so your mother in law has to be one of two people. Both books describe things that I as a Hutterite am certainly not proud of. But they only tell one side of the story. Perhaps you should read some of the reviews...
  22. My impressions, and that's all they are, and I do not wish to represent them as anything other than that, is that those who have had bad experiences have largely experienced them as a result of those at the top overreaching with their authority. And while these examples exist, I'm not intending to imply that it's some kind of 50-50 split between the good and bad. I have no ego invested in this opinion and will gladly defer to knowledge over opinion. Friends of my wife's family still live on the colony. Most of their children have left. There is no awkwardness or animosity within the family now, but there were issues early on that had to be worked thru. With the parents and the colony there are still some tensions because of this. That's life I suppose. As an educator, does it bother you when people write "thru"? There can be issues with our way of life, if it isn't done properly. But the average Hutterite lives a better than middle class lifestyle. Can you find a population anywhere else in the world where no one lives in poverty? Where menial labour is shared so no one has do it 24 / 7? Where no one has to go to a personal care home because they are looked after at home? And...no.
  23. Some communities have a communal Television / Satellite Dish, but many don't. However, streaming sports over the internet is very common. The reality is most people are watching TV in one form or another.
  24. I've been quite open about the fact that I'm a Hutterite. I'm a certified teacher, I've travelled to various places on the globe, I teach using more advanced technology than most of my non-Hutterite colleagues, I'm the collective bargaining chair for my local teachers' association, and for good measure I help out with moderating MBB, attend a few Bomber games every year, and watch the rest on our community TV. If y'all want to believe I'm behind some kind of fence that I need to escape from - I suppose you're free to do that.
  25. All the power does not rest with one person. We have a president but are largely autonomous in our various jobs and responsibilities. I feel for anyone who has had a bad experience, but bad experiences happen in any walk of life. As for the idea that it's hard to leave, many of us are well educated and trained, we could leave in a heartbeat if we wanted to.
