  1. Great thread boys...it made my day. Nice to read something rational and non-twitter for a change. But before we knock the offense too much, let's not forget Willy taking charge and engineering some of those game winning drives.
  2. Some good reasoning here. But really, you're just proving that people biased about their passions. Your question isn't all that hard to answer. O'Shea didn't have a better option at running back...quite frankly he still doesn't.
  3. Bowman might win, but not easily. Name recognition and incumbency are #1 in Municipal politics. Judy is not an incumbent but she is very well known. She wouldn't get my vote, but I my prediction is she'll win.
  4. With an effective running game and more threats in the long to mid-range passing game...this would not have been possible. It's clear that teams are keying on sweeps, hitches, outlet throws et. al. Basically anything where the QB gets rid of the ball quickly. Early in the season plays like that were going for first downs and even touchdowns (eg. Denmark in BC). Those options have been taken away and the Bombers can't really respond with anything because they can't consistently give the QB enough time.
  5. It's a curious thing. Its been said over and over that Etch wants a certain type of player on D. However...most of the starters on D were already here last year.
  6. making things worse, is that his reaction is to step up into the pocket... except there's at least one OL being pushed straight backwards and there's no pocket to step into. The kid needs a break for his physical and mental health. Brohm hasn't had the crap beat out of him for the last 3 months so he's still willing to take the hit to make a play. He's a pocket passer, it's what he's been trained to do for most of his life. You could really say the same thing about rolling out - if the outside rush isn't being contained your chances of getting creamed are just as high. What exactly our OL has been trained to do...seems to be some great mystery
  7. In garbage time. The entire 2nd half. He still looked good, was throwing the ball quickly and for the most part on target. Willy had a real bad problem with bracing for a hit rather than throwing quickly lately, he's shell shocked, for his own good he needs a break. He's bracing for the hits because he's playing with sprained shoulder.
  8. I would add Denmark to the safe list.
  9. When 8 rushers can't get to the QB...the DC can't possibly look good...
  10. C'mon guys, consequences are the problem, they need consequences, there will be consequences
  11. That's cool, you don't have to believe it. He also said he agrees with January, that the protections needs to be better.
  12. Willy said publicly last week that 'he couldn't take anymore hits.' I highly doubt Willy said this. What's your source? He said it 1290 before the Ottawa game...I heard him.
  13. Willy said publicly last week that 'he couldn't take anymore hits.'
  14. How is it even possible...to blitz for more than half the game and generate hardly any pressure? The front 7 and OL looked dead out there today. Props to the secondary for giving a good effort.
  15. Who is? Most of what I read is posters saying our depth needs to improve.
  16. The jet package vs. the Etcheverry D, that image is good for a chuckle or two
  17. A point about penalties: the last PI call in the BC vs. Ottawa game. At that point the game was out of reach, it wasn't exactly a catchable ball, and all the call did was turn the game into an even bigger rout for BC.
  18. Argos seems to be peaking at the right time
  19. So...it sounds like moving away from 5 day trials was fairly logical
  20. If in the past year you haven't changed or slightly revised an opinion...check your pulse...you may be dead
  21. The crossing routes are a good point. Bryant was effective on a couple of those in Hamilton game. I hope a few more are in the works to slow down the blitz.
  22. There was a recession...the feds chose to run a deficit and keep transfer payments intact. What happened in the 90's wasn't really a recession, it was Paul Martin balancing the federal budget on the backs of the provinces.
  23. Just some facts: Since 2005-2006, federal transfer payments to Manitoba have increased by 641 million. http://www.fin.gc.ca/fedprov/mtp-eng.asp#Manitoba Going back to 1999, it's about a billion. As a percentage of overall government revenue they have dropped from over 40% to less than 30%. This is consistent with what is happening across the country.
  24. Not a bad article, except for Broadbeck's need to add a little more of his own spin. The MB. PST is pretty consistent with PST rates across the country. If you look at the big picture, governments of all political stripes raise taxes. Mulroney called Harper's GST cut "good politics but bad policy."
  25. I've done that...it isn't funny...
