No, no you don't. The Bombers wouldn't have the rights to Mulumba or Bilukidi if that were the case. I think this is the 2nd time in the last couple weeks that Kpt Krunch has made this assertion. So I will confirm your post above. CFL TEAMS HOLD THE RIGHTS OF ALL DRAFT PICKS INDEFINITELY THAT DON'T SIGN WITH THEM. He was corrected last time as well. He never lets little things like facts get in the way of his ranting. Yeah, like I'm the only 'ranter' here - give me a break It amazes me how you always manage to respond to a comment without actually responding to the comment.

That makes no sense at all. It makes complete sense. The CFL actually words their transactions quite clearly. If you go back and look at the Brohm trade, see what we traded. A "conditional draft pick", no round listed. Because the conditions were that the value of the pick could escalate depending on Brohm meeting certain benchmarks. What did we trade for Nichols? A "conditional 7th round draft pick", meaning *if* the conditions are met, Edmonton will get a 7th rounder. If they aren't met, the pick (being conditional) will not go to Edmonton.
-
The conditional 7th rounder is a 7th rounder at most, regardless of what Wilkins said. It's conditional because Nichols will have to hit benchmarks for Edmonton to earn it, they could get nothing at all.
-
Maybe Nichols doesn't start but good lord, give him two series to watch from the sidelines and throw him in there. Brohm is ****ing horrible.
-
Good lord, I can't believe I'm actually taking a 6 hour bus ride to watch Brian Brohm throw a football around.
-
Considering we're signing him to be a backup, this is a very wise move. Should coincide with the release of Brohm too, one would think.
-
Nichols for a 7th rounder. WOW.

Trading draft picks for talent and leaving a team cap strapped and devoid of talent three years down the road? The old hit and run special
-
I'd rather go 0-18 every year At this point, I don't even care anymore, I just want a winner and Tillman is building yet another winner in Hamilton.
-
... Tillman for GM.

Right up the gut.

No, truthfully they should have signed an actual brand new talent instead. Even though some of them have worked out, this regime has given meaningful carries to a grand total of ONE running back that wasn't on his second or third look at the CFL. Paris Cotton couldn't even make Hamilton, Nic Grigsby was in Toronto (or BC I believe) for a bit of a training camp, then we were going to trot out Tyler Thomas and now Chevon Walker? Cam Marshall seems to be the only entirely fresh face. It's getting old.
-
No kidding. I like when we go out and see Walters making moves Mack would've never made like Jasper Simmons or Stanley Bryant but holy **** do we really need to sign every Chevon Walker and Dom Picard along the way?
-
^^ yeah, basically. Stuff like this makes me cringe. Walters needs to rely on fresh faces a bit more often. Chevon Walker was absolutely awful in Ottawa.

Alright, I'm over this season.

Who of those 3 is covering a slotback? Bass or Wild. I don't know if Simmons has the speed. Neither do the other two. Randle isn't going anywhere, and even if he is you're still playing a DB in that spot. Not sold on Randle. Then you don't know what you're looking for. He's quietly become an elite SAM in this league, no question.
-
Marve has shown no ability so far to operate at the speed the CFL requires. He spends WAY too long making his primary read. This compounds, because it forces him to rush into the next read. This compounds, because when he's rushed, he goes into survival mode. This compounds, because when he goes into survival mode, he resorts to his comfort zone which is to freelance and run around. Not to mention he throws the deep ball like he's throwing 50/50 jackpot balls on the schoolyard, he makes way too many poor decisions to throw across his body and he's inaccurate as hell.

It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...

I feel like you have these mixed up. Their offense is pretty good? I can't imagine you'd be calling our offense any good after giving up 10 sacks and scoring 13 points. -

Blackmon was on our neg list for a while. -
I'd prefer Chiles instead of Gordon in the lineup right now. As would I but how are you going to sell a guy on coming here off an NFL stint when your best pitch is that he can start until our other guys get healthy? I'm not throwing him out there instead of Moore, Adams or Denmark at this point.
-
I'd like to get Chiles here, but it's not really a need beyond injury replacement so I don't see it.

Craighead will probably never play another snap of football. Not that that is anything against him, he's a heck of a player. -
Irritating.

Kristian Matte was a first round pick in 2010 and didn't start until this year for Montreal. Bad pick??So, your point? We need to see what Goosen can do. What's Matte have to do with it.My point is that whether he is a bad pick or not cannot be determined this early in his career. I was using Matte as an example to illustrate that it can take time for a young Canadian OL to develop... Sometimes in the order of several years.Teams like Calgary & Montreal who used to have a strong OL can afford to wait 5 years for a draft pick to develop. Please don't compare Winnipeg's OL to the Stamps or Als. We desperately need our draft picks (especially the OL) to contribute & start quickly. We can't afford to develop a player for 5 years. So, while your point may be valid, it's difficult to apply it to the Bombers. So your argument is that to develop a great line like Calgary or Montreal, we should employ the total opposite draft strategy and only aim for picks ready to start right now? Seems counter intuitive to me. I don't know why we're even discussing this. The Bombers can't afford to wait on a draft pick for 5 years. It's a ridiculous premise. We don't have a 90 man roster where you can put project player after project player on some list getting them ready to play someday. We have a 5 million dollar salary cap & a limited roster. At some point a player has to show he belongs or he's cut because teams don't have the financial resources to spend on long, long term developmental players. And it's long before five years. The player you named in Montreal was lucky the Als gave him the time to develop as he's an exception. Most players don't get that luxury with Winnipeg or other teams. I think you're missing the point - Calgary and Montreal don't have that model because of where they are. They are where they are because of that model. You're putting the cart before the horse or however that old person saying goes.
