  1. The problem is .. I have no faith that we will field a competant offense let alone a consistent one .. it's a case of, "Please prove me wrong." Marshall's unit most certainly wouldn't be a difference making one .. and frankly .. I don't know that we have a secondary suited to keeping guys in front of them on a regular basis .. we saw how bad they were last year when asked to play zone .. and I get a sense that, with the players we have now, we'd be better playing an aggressive, attacking style of defense .. not Marshall's game at all.
  2. Come on boys! Shave your legs and take one for the team!
  3. Jay Cutler had some terrible footwork and Marc Trestman made huge improvements to that in Bears training camp this season. They also went out and addressed the offensive line this offseason a well. Through 15 games last season , the Bears had given up 56 sacks .. going into last night they'd only given up 24. When you have time to set up, those fundamentals don't slide nearly as much .. I only make this note because it's an area where the Bombers also need to improve ..protecting the QB
  4. It's one of my concerns as well .. Without adequate support in place for a guy like Collaros .. (protection, coaching and a solid supporting staff) .. how high is his ceiling here? Will he simply be another guy we run out of town because the organization isn't committed to putting our QBs in the best position to succeed.
  5. Quality signing. Vega was hugely under-rated by a large number of people .. good to see him back in Blue and Gold.
  6. Kind of feels that we've lost momentum .. great front office hires .. got our coach .. then stalled .. (or at least that's my feeling here) ..
  7. What were you hoping for in a waiver draft you probably didn't know existed before today? DING DING DING!! We have a winner!! Exactly. Walters even said in his presser that none of these guys are recognizable names .. rather this might be a way (the neg list draft) to potentially upgrade back end roster talent ..
  8. @FarhanLaljiTSN: #BCLions expected to announce Mark Washington as new DC at 2pm. Also Jarious Jackson won't be the OC in BC or Wpg #CFL
  9. Greatly under appreciated contributor on this team. Best of luck to PLL moving forward!
  10. Oh that's who you played for in high school. Makes sense now. Our motto: we'll leave you walking funny! Wait .. what?
  11. Especially so when you consider the Argos are now going to be replacing two of three co-ordinators .. adds to competitive mix .. but I like the sense of urgency there ..
  12. Assistant General Manager, Director of Player Personnel Ted Goveia joined the Blue Bombers in December of 2013 as the team’s Assistant General Manager, Director of Player Personnel. Previously, Goveia held down the role of Director, Player Personnel with the Toronto Argonauts, working free agent camps and scouting in both the United States and Canada, as well as coordinating the CFL Canadian Draft. Prior to that, Goveia had been responsible for recruitment strategies in both Canada and the U.S. for the Argos, scouting various NFL pre-season camps. He first joined the Argos in 2010 as an assistant coach and prior to that spent 15 years in various coaching and recruitment capacities throughout the CIS and Canadian Junior Football ranks. Ted Goveia has a long resume full of Canadian coaching and football recruitment experience. He’s held positions at the University of British Columbia, McMaster University, Mount Allison University and he spent 2010 coaching the Toronto Argonauts’ running backs. He’s also held fulltime coaching positions in the CJFL, at the high school level and gained extensive experience as a guest coach in the CFL. All told, Goveia has been part of every level of football in Canada. Goveia joined the UBC Thunderbirds as the Offensive Coordinator in 2004. In 2006, he was promoted to Head Coach and G.M and was responsible for developing a number of CFL prospects who went on to be drafted and play for a variety of teams in the league. Goveia wore many different hats during his time at McMaster University from 2001-04. He coached the receivers, running backs and special teams while also serving as the team’s Recruitment Coordinator. In his role he was responsible for all aspects of recruitment which resulted in some of the largest and most successful recruitment classes in the history of the program. He helped the Marauders to three straight Yates Cup finals. Goveia held the position of Recruitment Coordinator at his alma mater, Mt. Allison University, from 1994-98. In addition to his position, he served as Offensive Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach and Defensive Line Coach. At Mount A he eventually took charge of all administrative aspects of the football program while helping the Mounties set new CIS team and individual records. Goveia helped Mount A to the AUS finals in 1996 & 1997, winning the championship in ‘97. He ensured players were excelling in the classroom and his athletes attained a 92% graduation rate. A former offensive lineman from 1991-93 for the Mt. Allison Mounties, Goveia has held coaching positions in the CJFL with the Burlington Braves and Oakville Longhorns. In Burlington, he was head coach and led the club to three provincial finals. He also coached at Assumption High School in Burlington where he once attended and played football. Goveia was a guest coach at Toronto Argonauts training camp each year from 2001-08.
  13. Darren Cameron ‏@Darren_Cameron 1m #Bombers will not be renewing the contract of Ken Moll.
  14. Winnipeg Blue Bombers President and CEO Wade Miller announced today that Kyle Walters has been named General Manager. “Kyle is a strong leader with a wealth of knowledge of the Canadian Football League. His professionalism and great desire to win make him exactly what this organization needs in its next General Manager, said Miller.” “This is a great honour to represent fans across the Province as the General Manager of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers,” said Walters. “This franchise is embedded in our community and I’m very excited to steer us in the right direction moving forward.” Since August, Walters has been aggressive in creating positive change in football operations, both through trades and signing free agents, something he says will continue into the winter. “No stone will go unturned, in any regard, in making this team better,” said Walters, who lives in Winnipeg year-round. “My goal for this team is to be competitive on a weekly basis, make the playoffs and be an annual contender.” Walters took over as the Acting General Manager on August 13, 2013. Prior to that, he served as Assistant General Manager and Director of Canadian Scouting with the Blue Bombers. In total, Walters has 12 seasons of CFL experience as a player, coach and Assistant General Manager. He played seven seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and won a Grey Cup championship with the team in 1999.
  15. For me, I just like the guy as a person and think he has always come across as a strong leader... I can't really point to anything other than that and his recent success as a special teams coordinator. I'd also be on board with Khari Jones as HC and Mike O'Shea as DC if that is what is going on here. O'Shea might have realized no one will hire him as HC with only ST coordinator experience, and Chris Jones isn't going anywhere... So he could come here to be the DC. So aside from his success as a special teams coordinator on a team that historically has had good special teams .. there's nothing else? I don't ask to be glib .. I'm one of those people who is curious about *WHY* O'Shea would be a good choice as Head Coach. I don't see the appeal myself .. especially for a team that's struggled (for the better part of a decade) to find an offensive identity.
  16. Maybe it's just me .. but I don't (or haven't) bought into to Collaros hype train. He's been put in a VERY good spot in Toronto .. operating behind a solid offensive line, supported by a staff which sports no fewer than 3 former CFL quarterbacks and has been tutored by a future CFL Hall of Fame quarterback. Collaros *SHOULD* be doing well in TO and I'm not convinced he'll realize the same success outside that organization. Of the two, I've been more impressed with Reilly and his ability to fight through adversity and find a modicum of success in the gong show that was Edmonton this season. I think Reilly has "done more with less".
  17. Something to the effect of (and I'm paraphrasing): why would I want to go there .. it's where kickers and their careers go to die ..
  18. What happened with Sheets ( What did Sheets do / say? Missed this game.
  19. Taking liberties with our guys .. some tough hitting and just a general disrespect for the Bombers .. glad to see the team rally and score before the end of the half. Good fight and turning out to be a better game than I expected.
  20. Make-up call for the hold and missed head shot on Sears. Only compounding the problem by throwing flags for phantom penalties .. players need to know what to expect throughout a game .. make up call .. ppphhtttt .. this isn't hockey .. (not directed at you .. just a comment on the piss poor consistency)
  21. That was one of the weakest roughing the passer calls I've seen this season .. heaven forbid someone bumps Ray .. heh
