I guess it will take a lot of concussed players out of the game.....yeah that works....great for the league,,,,

The amount to head to head contact that happens in the game, that barely registered. I bet you there was hundreds of helmet to helmet hits in that game that were more forceful then that. Like everytime a dline and oline crash into each other.

Tf you say? No precedent for a player being suspended for spearing a qb late after the play? We have tons of precedent for that lmao.
Show me the precedent for a suspended player having his suspension thrown out on appeal. Doesn’t happen.

    that wasn't a spear.

Not like.that they don't..not sure what u were watching...

I've played at that level...and.coach up NCAA recruits...and that's just a gutless intentional act...just shameless and fact his HC didn't pull him off field .. especially with the game circumstances and what he just screwed up is even more pathetic

That's evenore pathetic than pathetic Marino's act...as at least he did his cheapshot within the whistle...while play was going

And Dicklesson for sure saw it..as a penalty ended up being called...and due to game circumstances he would.def look at challenging that...but he saw what happened and knew he had no.hope in helll...he's a lying sac of Rider..aka dung

Guys do that a lot after a play. Get in a guys face and hit helmet to helmet/head butt a guy. I bet if the league suspended Robertson the PA could come up with several examples this year where a player did something similar and didn't result in a fine.

The few differences between this play is that it was one a QB, and two the QB took a dive to make the contact worse then it was.

What u expect from an unqualified HC...and it was shown on reply numerous times and on big screen...is he that out of touch with what's going on?? Especially if a penalty was called and he wanted to challenge?? Like really...if wasn't that bad why would he not have challenged there at that point in game?? That's a key point to challenge...right there that shows what a bunch of bs that is...that..and.what a useless HC he must be to not know what's going on in a crucial point in game...that's just too damn funny

    Well....u would hope??

Just because it was worthy of a 15 yard penalty doesn't mean it is suspension worthy. Guys head but other guys after the whistle a ton. I have never seen someone suspended from it and I would not expect Robertson to be suspended either.

  4. 7 minutes ago, Booch said:

That play on Robertson was hardly a cheap shot and u probably see similar to that several times a game...just so happened he got hurt...but prob due in part to the cheap crap the rider dline gets away with game in and game out..have it on good sources too that Lanier is the same kind of sneaky cheap shot guy too...Sankey too...with a dumb tweet last week "statement made!"....what was it? They have a lousy QB and pourous oline...and total lack of overall team discipline..some kind of statement haha

Booch, if diving head first on a guy on the ground is not a cheap shot then what is? If that happened to willie what would you say?

No u don't...a guy with any type of 4.5 to 4.7 speed can go deep...if a db fails to trail him or let him go won't be in league long...u guys trumpet Duke as this field stretching deep ball talent 50/50 winner...and he prob one of slowest and in poorest shape in the league....no Db is gonna be able to back peddle and keep a reciever in front of him on a post..fly...fade or just flat out down the rail sprint for more than 10 to 12 yards before the flip their hips ...and if u think they can I don't know what to say

Ya but for the timing of the offence you need speed. The riders aren't using Duke to clear stuff out. What we are saying are two different things. Obviously DBs will run with guys if they go deep. But if it is happening later and clogging up pass lanes then it is not stretching the zone and making it easier to defend against. Going deep isnt just to take shots its to stretch the deep defenders and hopefully open up some of the in between stuff.

  6. 26 minutes ago, Booch said:

Any reciever can take it deep....if u run the appropriate route...and actually show the team you are gonna take your shot..then the db has to turn and run with him....if you let them play slightly off and keep it all in front of them...they see everything develop and flow to the ball...hence why it seems so far this yr everything is clogged up.

This in turn opens up the underneath game...as well as sets up the run...why we not doing this is odd...but at pro level ..anyone can go long ..maybe this is the game we open it up...

The problem is you need a guy with speed to press that DB and get him out of a back pedal. You also need to be fast run a clearout. For instance if you are running a dagger type concept the guy running the go needs to clear the zone so the guy running the dig can run into an open area. Speed isnt just about taking shots deep, its about stretching the defense vertically to open things up underneath. As an outsider I think this is where the bombers need to use Grant on offence more, even if he isn't catching bombs he could possibly open things up for other guys.

As much as I like the guy....Bailey hasn't been producing at the level the Bombers need him to. I suspect that's because he is a SB and not a WR. I wasn't a fan of him moving out there and it doesn't seem to be working. If they're going to change something on O I'd like to see a legit WR start in his spot.

From an outside perspective I think you guys have too many big physical recievers. Wolitarasky, Oleary Orange, Ellingson, Bailey, Schoen are all guys that are big and strong. They would also be guys that all benefit from having the waggle because they are not as fast off the line. Unfortunately, for Bailey he seems to be taking most of his snaps from the X position and starting from a stand still. I think the lack of waggle has really hurt him. I don't know how you fix this issue without sitting someone to get more speed/explosiveness in there. Also with how Bailey has played in the past Idk if you can sit him, but the other two Americans are playing better then him.

Montreal only had one more day of prep than SK. Williams wanted to demonstrate some new pass catching method, knock the ball out of the air and then catch it. Worked once, and announcers called it highlight reel, another time and it was incomplete, third time, int for td. Then helmet throwing? Wtf was that child doing?

    Montreal played Thursday, Riders Saturday.

He did correct his game tho in the second half...but if he doesn't become consistent and reliable...yup I can see him becoming 6th again...we still need to see more league games...cause maybe Ottawa is quite good and hence why we had trouble...gotta see what they do to other teams....I still think tho Lapo will be there downfall...guy needs a set of onions and break away from his "formula"...hasn't really worked for 10+ yrs now...and don't go say he won a cup here...that wasn't on him or because of him...

Ottawa's DT dou is for sure underrated by most people. Cleyon Laing is probably the best Canadian DT by a long shot with the slowing down of Laurent. Davon Coleman has been a solid player in the league for a long time. He hasn't got the press of a Dylan Wynn, Stove or Micah Johnson but he has consistently been one of the better American DTs in the CFL. I k

I feel way more offended at Wade Miller.

    Definitely lost some respect.

It actually probably isnt Wade Miller. Out of curiosity I looked up who the riders representative was this morning because a good friend of mines dad has been the chair of the Riders board for the last several years, and I was curious if he was involved in this. The Riders BOG representative was a board member. I would assume the Bombers is probably the same.

Then he needs to STHU & know his role which seems to be butterflies flying & little birds chirping by a beautiful mountain stream on a warm, sunny day. Singing. "All You Need Is Love" while wearing a great scarf. Cum by ya.

No, he wrote the letter. He's the face of the league. People listen to what he says. He deliberately muddied the water to confuse the issue. And to make the offer look a lot better than it is. He's as involved as the BOG's.

He works for the BOG's he is following their direction and trying to get the best deal for them. I dont understand why commissioners in pro sports leagues get so much hate while Owners generally get a pass for the actions that they influence. If you guys are mad get mad at Wade Miller or whoever sits on the BOGs as the bombers representatives

    250k for Lacey?? Good greif

Just said in RF Lacey was not in the top half of starting MLB in the CFL last year. I know he probably more of a Will but I dont see how you pay someone that is pretty much a replacement level player 250,000. Dexter MCcoil is probably regretting his retirement announcement with what jones is tossing around to former defensive players.

  13. 14 hours ago, Booch said:

I call bs on the 300k thing...that's a bit of a stretch and exaggerated number...who would offer that...like really? And yeah...260k for a slow...bad character wideout who didn't impress at all last yr is an overlay..if u think it isn't you are nuts

I mean, Chris Jones is back in the CFL. He already lost out on guys like Willie Jefferson and Masoli so he has money to spend.

Lol @ peoole comparing demski to Tyrrell Hill. I've seen a lot of stretches on this website and that one is near the top

Tyreke is one of one. There is no one in the world that compares to him as a combo of pure speed, quickness, route running, catching ability. There is a reason why many NFL teams have drafted busts trying to get the next Tyreke. I know it is a stretch but if i was to compare Demski to someone in the NFL it would be Deebo Samuel. thick but fast. Canmake guys miss but also be a physical runner.

Marino isn't that good...if anything he is dirty and will cost u in penalties...and u can't discount experience and leadership...Johnson had that in spades there..I don't see a real locker room leader...or core of legit leaders there

I completely disagree. Marino was very good for a first year player in very limited snaps. The discipline thing is for sure an issue along with being able to play multiple snaps (always looked gassed) and injuries. Well as been discussed in this thread already it seems the riders are going for a change in leadership with moving on from Purifoy and Gainey. They brought back Dean which kind of scares me, but he is a veteran guy. Edam is a veteran guy and I guarantee they sign another veteran guy in free agency most likely at DB.

The leadership thing isn't super worrying to me. On defence I am mostly worried about who is going to play DT as a national and what the Linebacker group will look like next year as that was a big weakness.

  16. 1 hour ago, Mike said:

Micah Johnson isn’t a huge loss, but Purifoy leaving creates a void. They’re going to be a very young team next year, they’ve got some pieces here and there but they’ve having trouble retaining guys and you don’t hear them in on a lot of players either.

One of two things is happening. Either the machine in Regina is doing a very good job of making sure their plans don’t leak to the media or the Riders aren’t a desirable team to play for anymore. Money still talks but they used to be able to sell players on the atmosphere, the fans, the building, the program and it looks like a lot of that goodwill is gone.

Micah Johnson is still a good player. His loss is manageable though because we had two young Americans that played well in spots last year in Marino and Lanier.  Wynn and Johnson will be a very physical tandem in Hamilton. I wonder where Ted Laurent ends up now?

I think everyone will be vying for the services of Ucambre Williams, who is pretty good at LT. Shouldn’t break the bank either.

I think the CFL has a bit of a lack of talent at the import Tackle position right now. The two name guy from Calgary is pretty good, Winnipegs guys are pretty good then it seems like a ton of average to below average guys. As a Rider fan I think I want Ucambre Williams but he is not a game changer at tackle. He is better than what we had out there last year but I dont think he is going to be worth what a team will have to pay him.

I don't see it, considering the level of competition he played against I don't think Borsa is going to be the "next one".  His skill level may pan out similar to Wolitarsky and he may find his place on ST but I don't think he's going to be of the same caliber as the 4 Natl. RB the Bombers employed last season.  Hopefully I'm wrong.

Maybe I am biased as I am from Sask, have watched Borsa play a ton and know him decently well. I think he has the potential to be a very good back. If he wasnt suspended for the year before his draft year he would have gone much higher. He is big, has break away spead and is effective out of the backfield in the passing game. I bet he is the third back and special teams guy before getting more and more offensive snaps.

You think he wss making up anger over being lied to on injury compensation from a mostly irrelevant franchise?

That is a very specific gripe

no I think that the franchise is drastically different than the one that lied to him. As i stated earlier new Owner, GM and coaching staff. The anger at BC this year would have been making it up considering all the people that screwed him are no longer there.

So basically we have our starting QB, 2 Canadian receivers' and backup in O'leary Orange, 4 of 5 starters on the O-line, but the fill in will be Grey who has started, and a Backup who was on roster for Last part of season and playoffs...good start on offence for sure. Absolute worse case scenario will have one of the Canadian tailbacks back, and Borsa backing him up...we will be okay there with whatever American receivers we land, and truly think 2 of the 3 will be back in some combination.

Defensive line is missing Stove and Kongbo at moment, as certain Thiadric will be back....If BA is shelved for a while it's a bonus...hide his salary and re-up Stove, and maybe if we dont over spend on WR's give Boateng a look in lieu of Kongbo....he'd be a sweet rotation with the Jeff's....If we can get Rose, Darby and Jones back we be looking really good....2 of the 3...still damn good...gonna be an interesting free agency for sure, but getting themeat and potatoes of our lines back was huge.....especially if we get a Stove to cook them on

Hypothetically if you were to sign Boateng you could sub Thomas out and Run 3 d ends in passing situations which would be pretty ideal. I dont see how you would be able to afford him though paying a guy 150,000+ to be a situational pass rusher doesnt seem like a good use of resources.

On another note I dont know why Chris Jones hates canadians at certain positions. Boetang is a good DE regardless of passport and it should be looked at as a bonus that he is Canadian.
